(Jehovah’s Valley, 5 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2013)
ADAM WAS GETTING ANXIOUS. Stephen could almost smell it. He didn’t pace. He didn’t fidget. But he was looking at every shadow. He wouldn’t be willing to sit on the porch of Stephen’s house much longer. Stephen had gotten past anxious, past tired. He was just waiting. What would happen, would happen. And he just hoped it would be God’s will.
He didn’t hold with the platitude that whatever happened was God’s will. That implied there was no free will. No, people stepped out of God’s will all the time. It took effort to walk in God’s will, to seek His will for one’s life. And when people stepped out of His will? Bad things happened.
