23 EXHAUSTION WASN’T ENOUGH to send Nick home for the night. Between the coffee he’d bought, the adrenaline surge from the tail, and the anger swelling from Willie’s apparent betrayal, all he wanted to do was eat. There was only one person in the world who would tolerate his company when he was this keyed up. The night nurse smiled at Nick as he signed in at the front desk.
