It only took three seconds before Daniel picked up the call. Georgina glanced at her mother before pressing the speaker button.
Esther, who was sitting near her daughter, glanced at the phone screen, and a bright smile immediately painted her face.
"It turns out that the person who gave you crystal love is Daniel. That boy is a good man. Cherish him well, Gina," Esther shouted, glaring at Nicholas.
Compared to Daniel, Nicholas was trash.
Her smile widened as she remembered Daniel's words. He said he would give them twenty million as a betrothal gift if he married Georgina.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the line, Daniel squatted at the side of the road. His face was pale, and he heaved a deep sigh. Not long ago, he received a phone call from the Godfrey family, telling him they would withdraw their sponsorship.
At that time, he felt the world had abandoned him. Without the support of Godfrey's family, he was nothing. He begged them not to cut off their support for him, but they didn't listen and told him it was because he messed up with the wrong people.
He wracked his brain to think about whom he had offended, but even now, he didn't know who it was.
"Daniel, can you buy that pair of crystal love again?" Georgina's voice rang, snapping Daniel back to his senses.
Despite feeling blue, Daniel forced a smile as he replied, "Are you talking about the fake shoes, Gina?"
"Fake shoes?" Georgina frowned and looked at Louise. She shrugged and glanced at her feet. They could distinguish authentic shoes from knock-offs, so her heels were undoubtedly genuine.
"Yeah. I bought fake shoes for three hundred thousand." Daniel sighed and continued, "Tsk, your useless husband threw them away, but those shoes are still at my house. If you want them, I'll get them for you."
As Georgina listened to him, she grew perplexed. If the counterfeit were still at Daniel's house, who sent her this genuine one? Who else would gift her a thirty million grand worth of shoes?
Gnawing her lip, Georgina hung up the phone and inhaled sharply. Suddenly, she remembered the day Nicholas sent her to work. He said he would give her a pair of crystal love.
With that in mind, she couldn't help looking at her husband. Nicholas was holding the spoon, eating his fill. Others hadn't begun eating yet, but he had already eaten two plates of food.
The guests sitting at the same table were looking at him with disdain.
Seeing this, Georgina felt ridiculous. What was she thinking? It was impossible to be him. He couldn't even afford a car, much less shoes that were thirty million grand.
On the other hand, Nicholas continued eating his fill, then put down the cutlery afterward. He wiped his lips and eyed Louise. His gaze darted to her wrist and saw she was wearing a white jade.
Although everyone knew the bracelet she wore was worth a fortune, no one knew it was antique.
The Godfrey family had an extensive collection of antiques. When Nicholas was about seven, he could already identify precious ones from rubbish.
Back then, the famous treasure appraiser, Freddie Myers, visited their house and stayed as a guest. He also became Nicholas' teacher for two months.
Looking at Louise's bracelet, he deduced it was from the 16th century, and its current price was at least twenty million.
"Please be quiet, everyone," Barbara said and walked over. Her wrinkled face was bright, and a smile was plastered on her lips.
She sat down and turned to Georgina, and asked impatiently, "Tell us how you negotiated with Zion Entertainment, Gina."
Hearing her name, Georgina stood up nervously. She was momentarily silent, not knowing what to say, but her grandmother's intense stare forced her to respond. "...When I arrived at Zion Entertainment, before I could say anything, the president's secretary told me I could sign the contract tomorrow."
When her words fell, the guests erupted into murmurs.
"What?"
"So Georgina managed to clinch the contract without doing anything?"
"Damn! She's so lucky!"
Listening to their discussion, Ryan was angry. His face was green, but he forced himself to calm down and turned to Barbara. "Grandma, when I went to Zion Entertainment, I was kicked out, but our family didn't give up, and we sent Georgina there. Zion Entertainment must have felt our sincerity, so they agreed to cooperate. Even if we didn't send Georgina, they would agree, even if it was someone else!"
Ryan's words sounded ridiculous as he tried to take credit for Georgina's success. However, since Barbara doted on him, she thought his words made sense.
Nodding, Barbara declared, "That's right. Gina, you can't be the only one to take credit for this. Ryan also contributed to your success."
Not expecting his grandmother to take his side, Ryan was ecstatic. He grinned and bowed. "Thank you, Grandma. I'm also the Clark family's descendant, so I'll work hard."
He raised his head and continued, "I heard there's a newcomer at Zion Entertainment. Her name is Heather Ainsworth, and she's a stunning beauty. I think Zion Entertainment will invest in her. If we managed her, we could earn a lot of money!"
"Tomorrow, I'll go to Zion Entertainment to discuss this matter," he added.
"That's good." Barbara smiled, appreciating his good intention. "I didn't dote on you in vain."
As Georgina and Esther watched them, they grew incensed. Georgina was supposed to be the star of the night, but Ryan not only stole her limelight.
Now that Zion Entertainment and CK Group had cooperation, if Ryan succeeded in the negotiation, he would certainly take all the credit.
Despite her rage, Georgina kept her silence. After all, even if she complained, it would only be brushed aside since her grandmother doted on Ryan.
"Let's have a good night, everyone! Order anything. It's on me!" Ryan laughed heartily, apparently happy.
He called the waiter and said, "Serve the wine!"
Shortly after, two waiters walked toward them and handed them a menu.
"Hello, Sir. May I take your order, please?" the waiter politely said.
Ryan didn't take the menu and waved his hand. "No need. Just serve us the most expensive wine. One bottle per table. Remember, the most expensive wine, understand?"
The waiter nodded, and they served them the drinks after a while.
Ryan poured himself a glass and raised it. "Let's drink till we get drunk! Let me toast you all!"
Everyone knew Ryan had a high status in the Clark family. Usually, they wouldn't bother him, but since Zion Entertainment was behind them, everyone wanted to curry favor with him. They cheered and raised their glasses.
They drank and ate to their hearts' content, and it was already late when they finished all the wine. Ryan drunkenly waved his hand, calling the waiter over.
"Hand me the bill!" He hiccupped and whipped out his card. Sitting beside Louise, he thought he looked dashing as he tried to impress her. He grinned as he showed off his bank card.
Almost everyone gasped as they realized his card was Amethyst Bank Platinum.
A regular Amethyst card had a minimum of ten million dollars, while the gold card had twenty million, and this platinum card required at least thirty million.
Although CK Group's net worth was about thirty million, a businessman's net worth wasn't the same as the balance on their card. Usually, business people invest their money, so they seldom have cash on them.
Ryan had been saving up for several years to get this card. It was only made yesterday; naturally, he wanted to show it off.
Louise also couldn't help but glance at Ryan. Even though her family's wealth could amount to two billion, it wasn't hers alone. She only had less than ten million on her account. She had to beg her father to sell two antiques to fill the gaps if she wanted to buy a pair of crystal love.
Ryan felt her gaze locked on him, and he was elated. His heart welled up with excitement. He smirked and boasted, "I'll pay for everyone except for him!"
He pointed at Nicholas and sneered. His cousin-in-law had a low status in their family, so it didn't matter if he picked on him.
"Do you know why I didn't pay for you, Nicholas?" He stood up, seemingly wanting to intimidate him. "It's because of your ignorance. You refuse to give up your seat when we ask you to do so. Just looking at your face is enough to piss us off. Do you think you're worth sitting with us?"
His eyes narrowed as he spat, "Since you made Miss Wright unhappy, I'll teach you a lesson on her behalf."
He turned to Louise and smiled arrogantly. "Don't worry, Miss Wright. I won't pay for him. I think the bill for every table is at least ten thousand, and this loser can't afford it."
Louise just smiled and didn't reply.
The waiter took his bank card and left.
Ryan sat down and propped his chin as he stared at Louise. "I heard you like crystal high heels, Miss Wright. I have many friends, and I can ask them to buy those shoes for you."
When Louise heard him, she had the urge to laugh. Although Ryan knew many people, buying crystal love was nothing but a pipe dream if he relied on his group of friends' connections.
Despite her inner ridicule, Louise politely replied, "Thank you."
At that moment, the waiter who took Ryan's card returned with an apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you don't have enough money on your card," he said.
For a moment, Ryan doubted his ears. When his words sank into his mind, he slapped the table and roared, "Are you f*****g kidding me?! I have thirty-one million on my card, and you're telling me I don't have enough?"
"Sorry, Sir, but your bill is thirty-eight million, two hundred and sixty thousand," the waiter calmly replied.
