A Mother's Disapproval

The sharp chill of the air prickled my skin as the oppressive darkness wrapped around me. My heart raced with each passing second. We are locked up with the others in the theatre with nowhere to go. It wasn't safe, apparently, to be in the hallways. The captain had announced on the radio that they were trying to put the engines back on but each second that the lights didn't come back on drove me crazy. I hated being in the dark. “ Are you okay? Do you need my jacket?” Paul asked as he stared at me noticing my hands rubbing against my shoulders. “ I'm okay,” I replied politely. The door opened and Zachary walked into the theatre panting hard. Watching him enter the room, I ran immediately into his open arms relieved. “ Are you okay? Did you get hurt?” Zachary asked as he checked me.
