Angel awoke tired, but felt wonderful, as if she had just had the greatest s*x of her life. She was disappointed that it was all a dream, but amazed that she could have such a vivid and powerful dream about a complete stranger. Strange how her dream had seemed so real and yet she had never truly felt much while being with a man. She had gotten close a few times, but it never seemed to happen like all of her romance books described. The only constant had been the faithful "bullet" for twelve dollars from Jeans Passion Party.
Angel turned on the shower to a warm temperature to help wake her up, silently cursing Mondays because she had to work open to close at the diner. Hours of pouring coffee, taking orders and standing on her feet, otherwise known as hard work. If luck was on her side, tips would be enough to cover the rest of her rent...or maybe he would come back.
Stepping into the shower, she knew it was too good to be true. He was getting married in less than a week. Come to think of it, she didn't even know his name. Grabbing the body wash, she poured a dollop onto her shower puff and began massaging her body while fantasizing about the mystery man. Standing under the spray and rinsing the soap from her body, she ran her hands down her torso feeling the softness of her skin, wondering why men never stuck around very long. Her dad left when she was a baby and her mom worked two jobs just to support them. She had managed to graduate high school, but did not have enough money for college, so it was right to Emerald Isle Diner. She kept telling herself that it was only for a short while to save some money, but that had been seven years now and still very little money saved. As if she were coming out of a daze, Angel came to her sense realizing that she had already washed her body. Running her hands down her stomach and between her thighs, she gasped at finding her lips swollen, tender and very wet from within. "Must have been one hell of a vivid dream if I reacted like that...wonder what the real thing would be like?" Angel finished and turned off the water. Reaching for the towel, she found herself smiling with thoughts of that gorgeous man who had sat at her table. Thinking to herself she remembered that he was getting married soon and obviously had better things to do than to sit at a back booth and wait for her to bring him some bad coffee and watch her.
Angel dressed in her uniform and gave Swoop a squeeze as she put her food and water down in the bathroom. "Your kitty box is clean and you are all set here. What kind of music do you want today?" Swoop looked up at Angel and mewed slightly. "Oh, you picked a good one today." Angel placed the radio quietly on a top 40 station to keep Swoop company. "Bye Swoop. Be good."
Angel walked on cloud nine all day. She hummed while pouring coffee, singing a few bars of her favorite song while putting plates of tuna salad and chips in front of customers...all while daydreaming of him. The humming seemed to lift the spirit of the Emerald Isle Diner a notch higher than it had been the day before. Customers tipped Angel a little more than the usual five percent. Cooks, waitresses and even Jean smiled more. Angel finished the day easily. No aching feet or back, and no sign of the nagging headache from the smell of fry grease. Side work took half the time and she was in such good spirits that she walked home instead of taking the bus.
It was only ten blocks to the trail in the park that would lead her to the entrance of Knollwood Apartments. The weather was surprisingly warm for October so she didn't mind the walk. Angel was only partially aware of her surroundings while the rest of her was caught up in the memory of last nights dream. She never heard him coming. Angel felt the arms around her midsection, pushing her into the alley. She tried to scream but the combination of foul body odor and a dirty hand over her mouth would not allow the scream to come to life. Her thoughts trying to make sense of what was going on while the bile rose up in her throat. Angel could feel the bricks of the building scrape against her cheek as the man shoved her up against the wall, the warm blood trickling down to the corner of her mouth.
"I saw you...you didn't see me, but I sure saw you with your ass swishing back and forth at the diner. I said to myself, I gots to have her." The arms were strong, too strong for Angel to push away from the wall. Angel could feel her heart pounding like it would explode if she moved. The arm around her waist moved to pin her to the wall while the other caught hold of the black skirt and slid it up her thigh slowly. "Yes ma'am, I knew I had to have you." A hand slid under the skirt to find the edges of Angels thong. Sliding his fingers between her thighs, fingers that were rough from the weather and much too quick to give a woman pleasure.
Sobbing as the man removed his hand, Angel hoped he was finished. She knew deep down that the true terror was just getting started when she heard him take his zipper down. Angel struggled to break free from the fear of what was sure to come. Swinging her arms, moving her legs to prevent access to the sweet spot. The arm pushed her closer to the wall than she thought possible. Moving was no longer an option. Tears streaming down her face, Angels' mind drifted back to the handsome stranger from the diner the night before. As she remembered his smell, the way his body looked in those jeans...Angel went numb.
The fingers were back, ripping at the thong. Tearing the material, groping at her thighs. Reaching around to the front of her, just as the hand stroked the front of her thigh, Angel felt the waves of nausea and panic. Weakness set in and Angel could no longer stand as the darkness took over her mind. The arm across her back fell away. Without the support, Angel slid down the wall scraping cheeks, knees and nose. Angel never felt the ground come rushing up to meet her as all went black.
