Chapter 2: 'He was perfect'

1047 Words
We look around at each other. I would have never thought that this would be the bunch chosen. Aalayah looks like the stereotypically b*tchy kinds of girl. You know, the one girl in every high school movie who you just wanna slap. Liam and Jaiden look like they already knew each other. Liam has the kind of posture and presence of a female. I love it!          " So this bunch seems like a girl with a fat ass, a high school athlete, a spoiled brat and my friend Liam," Jaiden said with a smile on his face. Hmph...well Jaiden is the straightforward asshole. Annoying but I appreciate the honesty.         " Well this girl with a fat ass has a name....I'm Diamonte Harper. Nice to meet you all", I said. And one after the other they all followed suit with the introductions.          " I'm Aalayah Prime, don't forget the name"         " Kaleb Brown"         " Liam Degrassi"         " Jaiden Miles" We call couldn't be more different from each other. Different backgrounds. Different social status. We all lived different lives to get to where we are now. In the end that makes us all the best group to help in the cases. Different cases require different kinds of knowledge. Each of us learned things differently so we all have our own way of thinking. Honestly it seems like we might work.          " I'd say we should go for some drinks. Yeah? On me, " Jaiden said walking backwards up the stairs exiting the classroom. We all nod in agreement and follow Jaiden to a bar that was down the street from campus. Jaiden bursts in the bar loudly. Inside people are dancing, drinking, and honestly it looks like they are having the time of their lives. The group sits down and we all order our own drinks. I ordered Hennessy, Kaleb and Aalayah ordered Tequila and Liam and Jaiden took shots of vodka.          " Oh so you're a Hennessy kind of girl, I see" Kaleb say sliding next to me. I smile and nod my head. I don't know how I am able to tolerate Henny. Many people don't like its taste but I love Hennessy on my lips.         " What can I say? I'm full of surprises," I say taking a sip. Kaleb follows suit and winks at me. I smile at him as a pull back a piece of hair behind my ear. The rest of the gang soon join us.         " So Diamonte...tell us about yourself newbie," said Jaiden to me, taking a sip of his drink. All eyes turned on me. Yeah, totally no pressure at all except my very next words will determine whether or not I could make friends.         " Well, just turned 21. My mama is Trinidadian and Puerto Rican. My father is caucasian . So I'm multiracial in a sense. Ummm...I have a little brother, Miguel. I was a cheerleader in high school. By senior year, I wanted to be a lawyer since my aunt was wrongly put in jail for a crime she didn't commit," I said taking a sip of what's left in my cup.         " Tu mamá es puertorriqueña? El mío también. ¿Qué parte de Puerto Rico?", said Liam with a slight eagerness. A bright smile spread across his face. Aalayah rolled her eyes and look a shot. I smiled at Liam.          " Oh, vaya, crecí en San Juan hasta los 12 años y luego nos mudamos a los Estados Unidos," I said with a smile. San Juan is the Puerto Rico's capital. I remember as a nina, I would roam around the Old San Juan neighborhood and I would see colorful Spanish colonial buildings and El Morro and La Fortaleza, massive, century-old fortresses. I was a very adventurous child. I gave my parents a very hard time. Sometimes I would sneak out in the mist of the night and explore as my parents slept. My mother used to scare me to sleep with La Llorona. La Llorona is supposed to be a mother that lost her children and that in the night time, she could be heard crying and begging for the children she lost. In Puerto Rico, that legend is set in the town of Coamo. Many drivers say that they have seen a woman on the side of the road by the Las Calabazas Bridge. They mentioned that ignoring her wasn’t enough because she would appear inside the car. Many people think that this is the reason why there are so many accidents on that bridge. At the time I was young so I didn't know that Coamo was a very long while away.  Kaleb then grabbed my hand and lead me to the dance floor. The music is pulsating around us. The sound of the music drowned out as I looked into his eyes. We circled each other, our gaze remained locked. He stepped behind me and placed his hand on my waist as I gently placed my hand on his neck. Together, we danced to the music, our feet in perfect sync to the beating of my heart. As we progressed I felt relaxed, and allowed a small smile to form on my lips. He was perfect. Our bodies grinded in sync as were our every move. His lips whispered sweet nothings into my ear. We giggle and as things heat up, i turn around. Our gaze met once again and our breaths are heavy. In the moment, our lips almost collide but we are interrupted by the sound of a phone ringing and our gaze as well as our bodies break. That's just great. Whew..for a minute there I thought we were about to ki-         " I hope you all are sober enough. It's time to go see Professor Belle at the firm", Liam said gathering all of us in one place. We all go to grab our things. Right before we leave, I caught a slight glance from Kaleb. The tension between us is still intimate. He smiles and breaks the gaze. Don't fall for him, Didi.
