Carlos got up from his chair and walked up to my mom. "It's fine Luna. Your daughter is the love of my life, I can't hold grudges against her."
My mom shook her head at me. "Such a good man, despite everything you have put him through, he still cares for you and defends you... You are such an ingrate."
Carlos clasped his hands together. "Well, food is on the table, come let's eat." He gestured us toward the dining table and my mom followed him.
I held her hand before she could move away. When I got her attention, I asked her in a low voice. "Where is my father?"
