In the streets of Mexico, I had to live through a whole lot of shitty stuff. I had to face fear daily and make deals with death. But despite everything I have experienced in my life, nothing prepared me to ask that one question, "Will you marry me?"
I had never felt so nervous in my entire life as when I waited for her to give me an answer. Absolutely nothing prepares you for the erratic heartbeat. I almost fainted just hoping that she would say Yes.
She hesitated for longer than I thought she would, but then, she asked: "How about I give you an answer at the end of today?"
"What?" My head was spinning because of what she said. "You wanna wait?"
She smiled. "You be a good boy for me, and I'll give you my final answer at the end of the day...deal?"
