Chapter 9.

Ruin my life “Not that one, it’s too sweet. Besides yellow doesn’t look good on anyone” Sarah said trying to help me decide what to wear for my date with Alexander. I ended on a little black dress and a black blazer to go with it. Sarah was kind enough to do my makeup since I had no idea of what I was doing. I put on a pair of leather boots that were pretty high and took one last look in the mirror. My reflection was different, I was different. I liked what I saw. I had a small frame but curves and in this particular outfit I looked very mature. He knocked on my door at exactly 19.00 PM, so he was way more punctual than me. Good to know. I opened the door and he almost had a heart attack. I could hear his pulse, actually I think everyone on my floor heard it. “Amaya…you look so beautiful. I can’t believe how lucky I am” I smiled and gave him the elevator-look: “You don’t look to bad yourself”.  He was wearing a black suit with a black shirt and looked so sexy that I would have given him my virginity right now if Sarah had not been in my room. f*****g Sarah. I broke the intense starring contest with “So should we get going?”. “After you, my love” and Sarah could not hold back “Awww have fun you two. Be back before eleven” Alexander and I left without a word. He opened the car door for me and got in the driver side before he kissed me. Took him long enough. We drove in silence for a long time before I said: “So where are we going?” He smiled: “You’ll see soon enough” a few minutes later he pulled onto a small road that turned out to be a hotel driveway. Alexander shut off the car and said: “This is our first stop” then he got out of the car and went to my side to help me out. The ground was gravel and I had a hard time walking in my heals, as heals was not really something I wore. Ever. I almost tripped but Alexander caught me and carried me bridal style all the way to the door of the hotel before he gently put me back on my feet. “Thank you… my love” I winked at him. He smiled and took my hand. We had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant where he told me all about his life and I told him all about my fake family. He shook his head every time I called them that by the way. Everything Sarah had not already explained to me Alexander did in that restaurant. “A Luna is very special Amaya, there are very few left in the world and for the most part they are celebrated and worshiped as Gods. But they are also hunted by few. My love… a blood Luna is so much more. We have not had one in decades. A Luna have powers, it’s different for every Luna but a blood Luna has the ability to create more werewolves.” I had come with some s****l comment along the lines of “Can’t we all make werewolves wink, wink”. He chuckled and said: “I mean you can turn regular people into werewolves, you can make an army of pure breeds. And you might need to. But let us not talk about that tonight. Tonight, is about something else”. I bit my bottom lip, squinted my eyes and leaned forward: “So when are we getting to what tonight is really about”. Alexander waved a waiter down and asked for the check, paid and then we went back to the car. “I actually want to show you something Amaya, before we go back to my room and make love, is that okay?” he asked with that smirk. I honestly did not think it would happen tonight anyway, so I happily nodded with a big smile. We drove for twenty minutes or so, when Alexander pulled over the car. It was dark outside, the little light in the car was the only one for miles. He put his warm hand on my thigh for a few seconds before going for a flashlight in the glove compartment. He is such a tease. We both got out of the car, he went to my side and turned on the flashlight. He picked me up and with a smile said:” Your shoes wouldn’t like this walk either” I put my arms around his neck in agreement and he started walking into a wooded area. After a few minutes we were in a clearing which held a huge rock in the center. “What is that?” “It’s a rock Amaya” he responded with a smile and sarcasm so thick you could cut it with a knife. “It’s a wish. A prayer. There was a time when there were many Lunas. But then one Luna named Harlow went mad. She wanted to gather an army of wolves and erase the human race which ended in a giant battle. That was 30 years ago. My father fought her, actually died fighting her” “I’m so sorry Alexander” I said and placed my head against his. “It’s okay my love, you can’t miss something you never had. In the battle were my father died many great wolves fell too, on both sides. There were only a few packs left and most of the Lunas had been killed by Harlow. The few that are left lives in isolation” “Where are Harlow now?” I looked at him nervous and questioning. “We never found her, but I hope she crawled off somewhere and died. There are not enough wolves left for her to make an army and even if there was, I would kill them all before she could get to you” “Me? Why would she come after me?” my eyes were wide and the scary war stories had taken the confidence out of my voice. “Isn’t obvious? You can turn people into werewolves, and she wants or wanted to erase humans. Don’t be scared, she’s most likely dead” he said with such calm. “This stone was placed here the day the last blood Luna died; her name was Amaya. That was 150 years ago. My mother told me that my blood line was created by her and…” I did not let him finish “Wait back up, her name was Amaya? Are we all named Amaya or what?” he chuckled a bit and said: “No that’s just a coincidence, or maybe your birth parents wanted you to have a piece of your history with you” “EXCUSE ME?! My birth parents as in I’m adopted ?! put me down right now!” Alexander looked confused but put me on my feet as he said: “You called them your “fake family” all night, I thought you figured it out?” “NO! I didn’t, I just meant they were fake as in lying to me my whole life!” I yelled at him with tears forming in my eyes. “I’m so sorry Amaya, I’m so so sorry. I honestly thought you figured it out. They are still your family, they raised you and…” I cut him off again “and lied to me! Every child has a right to know where they come from. I HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHERE I COME FROM” I could not hold back the tears and started frantically walking back and forth, trying to catch the wind that had just been knocked out of me. I hit something on the ground but before I fell Alexander caught me, picked me up bridal style and said: “Storytime is over for today, let’s get you home”. We drove in awkward silence, even my tears ran down my cheeks in silence. It was so dark outside, which soothed my state of mind. I cannot believe that this is my life. My parents are not my parents. I am some kind of special dog with a dead lady’s name. AND I could have gotten my drivers-license two years earlier! My mind was spinning out of control when a voice inside me said: “Calm down, you’re going to make me come out right here in his car” Alexander suddenly pulled over. Could he hear her too?
