Chapter 2: Failed escape

“What do you really want with me?” I growl, slowly pushing myself as I refused to be ridiculed and treated like a piece of garbage. “Like I said revenge.” he grits, eyes burning as he takes a step forward, allowing his face to shine brightly under the soft bulb. His eyes gleamed like molten amber, warm and golden, yet seeming to burn fiercely. His gaze was cold and predatory as he ran those eyes along my body, making me shrink back in fear like a predator hunting his prey. Face filled with hard, angular features that seemed chiseled from granite, ever slowly his lips quirked up in a nasty smirk. “I haven't done anything to you, what revenge do you want?” I spit out, narrowing my eyes as the memory of Sir Martin's dead body plagues my mind. Will he ever be found? Given a proper burial? Or would he just rot there, and seize to exist? I refuse to be scared of this bastard. “Oh, but you do. You see, I found out the only thing your dear father cares about is yo–” “You must be delusional. He hates me, and cares all about his new wife that he married three months after mom died.” I bark, my veins popping as I move forward. He smirks, sizing me up before slowly stepping back only to be immersed in darkness once again. I can't see him, but I can feel him. Every hair on my skin rises up as I frantically look about trying to find the bastard. “Do you know why I hate you?” he grits, his voice so close yet so far away. “No, let me guess. Because you have nothing better to do with your life,” I bark, pressing my clenched fist on my thighs. I know I shouldn't provoke him, but f**k it. He killed Sir Martins. The only person who actually cares for me. He killed the one person who truly cared for me. I hate it. I hate him. “Now let's start with your session for today. Your papa must be waiting for you by now,” his voice resonates. Stepping under the light once more, he takes delightful steps towards the table, his fingers twirling around a two-sharp-edged knife. “You know I have been watching you for a while. Strong, smiling, independent, never shows weakness or fear. The list goes on, and on," blah, blah f*****g blah.” He snarls, moving forward. “Ahh!!” a scream tears out of my lips as he latches his fingers into my hair, tugging so hard I had to scream. “When I am done with you, papa dearest won't even recognize you,” he scowls, then presses the tips of the knife down on my cheeks. Hot crimson liquid spurts out, trailing down the knife as he drags it on, eliciting a scream from me. “There, much better.” he chuckles, tossing my head back as he steps away to look at my bloodied cheeks. “Tch tch tch. I am just getting started,” he says, tilting his lips up as his eyes gleamed darkly. “Boss!! We have an emergency,” a voice barks from outside, causing his hand to pause mere inches away from my eyes. “Speak.” he booms, his voice deeper and scarier. “Mr Torrez,” at the sound of my dad's name, my head snaps up towards the door. Impossible!!! He couldn't have gotten here so fast. “Oh no Barbie, he can't find this place anyone can,” he says, lips turning up into that devilish smirk. “Wh–w-where are we?” I stutter, clenching my fist harder than I should. “That's left for me to know, and you to find out,” he snarls, then strides out of the room with so much authority oozing off him. I was once told the eyes are the window to the soul. If there is no light in the eyes, then the soul is dark as night. I never really got it, but seeing that strange man who kidn*pped me, I get it now. His soul is so dark I know I have to get out of here or else that same darkness will consume me. My eyes scan around, filtering a way out when a small creaking sound echoes through the room. Oh s**t. The door isn't closed properly, slightly ajar. My escape. Despite my head screaming at me that it's a trap, I can't help myself as I drag my body up. It's better I die trying than to die waiting. With my mind made up, I drag myself towards the door, hissing as pain slits through my body. Ever gently I pry the door open, darkness greets me as I take cautious steps forward. Shooting my arms out to hold the nearest wall for stability. My finger grazes a handle which seems like a door. Without thinking, I push it open, only to be greeted with sharp blinding light. I shut my eyes for a moment before prying it back open, only to be met with broad daylight. “Oh my goodness!!! I made it.” I giggled, roaming my eyes around the trees that stretch into deep woods. I don't know where I am, but I have better chances at surviving out here than in there. I step out, and dash unto the woods, running so fast I barely register the scabs, and cuts piercing through my skin from the tree branches. My feet pad against the earth as its clayey smell wafts through my nose, feet thumping against the soil as I weave my way through the woods. After running for what feels like forever, I dash out onto a long lonely road. By now it's already dark. “It was too easy to escape,” I whisper, dragging my feet along the asphalt. It was too easy, or maybe he was just a dumb-ass fool. Honk My head snaps to the incoming vehicle, and without thinking, I dash into the road. “HEYYYY!!!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. “HELPPPP!!!” the car speeds by before slowly coming to a halt. I dashed forward, flinging the door open and stepping in. I shouldn't have done that. “Hello there, pretty,” a dark muscular voice says, causing me to stare at him. “Didn't mama tell you never to enter a stranger's car?” another says. That's when I realise. There were four other dangerous-looking men in the car, looking at me like they had found dinner for the day. Oh s**t!!!
