Thirteen years ago.
"Hello? Princess?"
"I can still hear you, mom." Jennifer sighed in frustration, unable to hide her angst.
"Darling I'm totally not in support of this. This is the height of it all! There is really no going back after this! Do you think you can live with the guilt of taking a person's life?" Jennifer's mom admonished her daughter from the other end of the phone. Jennifer was silent for a brief moment as she contemplated over what her mom had told her. For the first time, she was beginning to have doubts. Was it all worth it? She wondered. Today she had planned to do something really terrible for the man of her dreams. She was about to take a huge leap in her life for this man, and all the while she had not had thought about it twice, not until this moment. She shrugged as if shaking off the indecision, then she spoke.
"I'll consider it as a little sacrifice I have to pay to get what I want." She answered before ending the call.
Jennifer picked up a glass of brandy, as she stared into empty space absent mindedly, reciting all over again her meticulous plan to eliminate her biggest problem. Driven by desperation, she had orchestrated a plan to kill Fabulous so she could have Buchi all to herself. She was still lost in her own world, thinking about the near future that she did not see Buchi enter the bar, nor take notice of him approaching her.
"Hey, hey! What are you doing?" He whispered as he took a seat beside her, yanking her out of her head.
"You're a life saver!" Jennifer exclaimed with glittery eyes, pretending to be intoxicated.
"My God. You're really wasted." Buchi muttered angrily.
"Is it that obvious?" Jennifer asked, feigning concern but glee evident in her voice.
"C'mon give me your keys. I'm driving you home." Buchi offered, helping her up to her feet.
"No please don't!" Jennifer exclaimed worriedly. "I don't want my parents to see me like this. Especially not my father."
"What do you suggest we do then, because I can't let you stay here another second."
"I'd rather spend the night at your place than mine. At least not in this condition." Jennifer suggested cautiously.
"Yes this is a very good idea. This way, I can get to keep an eye on you." Buchi agreed as he helped her out of the bar to her car. Jennifer was excited, acknowledging within that she deserved an Oscars for her acting.
It had already gotten dark before Buchi finally arrived at his place, and Jennifer clung onto him seductively as he helped her walk up to the entrance door. Buchi rang the doorbell once and on the second time, the door was opened by his father who did not seem excited seeing them like that. He muttered a greeting as he walked past his father and laid Jennifer gently on a couch.
"Okay Jennifer. Just wait right here, while I go get you medicine." Buchi instructed Jennifer after adjusting her weight properly on the couch.
"Yes sir!" Jennifer answered and began to laugh hysterically, garbling unintelligible things. Her laughter echoed about the house, waking Fabulous from sleep.
"Sshhh!" Buchi cautioned her, placing his index finger on his lips. "Quiet! It's late, and my wife's still sleeping."
"Oh is she?" Jennifer asked nonchalantly, as she grabbed Buchi by the shirt and drew him forcefully to her. Buchi was caught by surprise and he stumbled onto her, his face brushing against her bosom. "My God! Do you know you're really handsome?" She asked rhetorically, biting her lower lips.
"Jennifer what are you doin... ?" Buchi was about to ask before she kissed him; just at the moment Fabulous entered the livingroom.
"What the... ?!" Fab exclaimed, shocked by what she had just witnessed.
Everywhere was silent now. Jennifer was excited her plan was going smoothly, Buchi was yet to understand what had just happened and Fab was just shocked. She didn't not speak anymore as tears began to fall freely from her face and she wheeled back to her room, heartbroken. Buchi chased after her immediately, screaming apologies.
They spent several long minutes in their room arguing heatedly, their loud voices filling the house; and a few moments later Fab was rushing out of the room with her luggage and her little boy in one hand.
"What are you doing?" Buchi screamed after, but she did not reply him. She kept a straight face as she continued, but glowered at Jennifer once they crossed paths. She stopped to say something to her, but words refused to come out once she opened her mouth — she couldn't stop herself from crying. And when Jennifer expected it the least, she slapped her real hard, and continued briskly towards the door. Buchi tried stopping her by grabbing her by the arm, but she shrugged it off and gave him a slap too.
"Taking the boy with you is not a good idea" Buchi's father finally interfered, blocking her path. "Give him to me. I'll take care of him till everything is resolved. Trust me." He requested stretching out his hand to her. Fab was silent for a brief moment as she pondered over what he had told her, then reluctantly she handed her little boy to him.
"Champ, mommy will come back for you, okay? I promise." She assured her little boy, showering him with kisses so he could stop crying. "C'mon Tiger, please stop crying. See mommy's not crying anymore." She lied to him, forcing a smile on her face. "Now go play with Super cool grandpa!" She instructed, signaling her father inlaw to take the boy away, then she left.
"Babe where are you even going?" Buchi asked worriedly, following behind her.
"Anywhere far from here." Fab retorted as she walked briskly towards her car. Buchi tried stopping her once more, but she pushed him away violently and entered her car. Matching down on the acceleration, Fab zoomed off into the night; and a strange car that had been parked by the side of her house began to follow after her.
As if the heavens were aware that something terrible was about to happen, the sky began rumble and soon it began to rain.
