Bon Fire

Zack walks into my bedroom as I'm grabbing a red zip up sweater from my walk in closet, to go with my red halter top and dark blue jean shorts. My Mom was gone for the weekend, as she usually does. "You ready to go?" he asks as he sits on my bed. " Yes" I reply as I fold the sweater under my arm, and my over night bag. We made plans to stay at Zack's tonight after we left the party.

We went back to Zack's to drop off my bag, Jess and Austin arrived as we were going into the house. Nobody else was home, his mom was gone out and his brother was at his friends, who was supposed to meet us the bon fire later on. Jess and Austin put there bags in the spare room and I put mine on Zack's couch in his room, and we headed back out to Zack's red jeep to head to the beach. Jess and I crawled into the back seat while Zack drove and Austin got into the passenger seat." This is going to be the best party ever" Jess squealed as we were pulling out of the driveway. "I'm excited to see what all the hype is about" I replied. "It's so much fun, the fire is huge, booze, and people everywhere, some people get too wasted and end up passing out or you know hooking up with random people" Jess says. Oh great some guy will probably try to hit on me I think to myself looking out the window. Zack must have noticed the look on my face and said "Don't worry Sam, I'll be with you the whole time" I look at him and smile. Zack was always looking out for me. I've never even considered dating anyone since my last boyfriend cheated on me with best friend at the time.

We made it to this wide open field Zack parks the jeep next to this black Chevy truck. "Looks like Lucas, and his buddy's are here" Austin says looking at the truck before getting out of the jeep. I never heard them mention Lucas before, so I'm guessing he's not really a close friend of theirs. The four of us walk on this trail in the field that takes us down to the beach, Jess had her arm wrapped around Austins, as me and Zack walk side by side. As we approach the top of the trail that goes down to the beach I can see people everywhere and the fire is already blazing, there are three guys stoking the fire and adding more wood. We find a spot on a huge log kinda away from most of the crowd. Austin and Zack asks us if we want anything to drink. I'm not much of a drinker, but said yes. I'm here to enjoy the last night of freedom before school starts back up Tuesday. Jess sits next me with a smile on her face, "Sam, you have no idea how happy I'am you came with us, I know big crowds are not your thing but means a lot to me and besides you can keep Zack company" she said nudging me in the arm laughingly. I smile at her as Zack and Austin are headed back this way with drinks in their hands. Austin hands Jess a mikes hard lemonade cooler, and passes one to me too, he's got a beer for himself, Zack just got a water. "Sorry no drinking for me, I gotta drive us home later" Zack says sitting next to me. "Smart cookie" I reply looking at him with a smirk on my face. As we were all sitting there talking and laughing enjoying the evening, something caught my eye off in the distance, a guy was watching me I was trying to figure out who it was he started walking our way I felt my breath slowing down as I kept thinking to myself oh my god who is this guy. Zack notices and asks if I was okay, I barely heard him as I'm so focused on who this person us. Jess looks in the direction "I'm pretty sure that's Lucas coming our way" she said. He walks passed us and says "Hey guys enjoying the party" with a smile on his face looking dead at me, and keeps going. Lucas was tall built, light brown curly hair, and ocean blue eyes. What the hell was that feeling that came over me I was asking myself.

Within an hour Jess and Austin decided to go for a walk alone, Zack was being good company. He got up " I have to go take a piss I'll be right back". "Okay, no problem" I reply. As he started walking into a wooded area, I seen someone coming towards me. "Hey, nice evening isn't it" Lucas said standing next to me, he had such a deep voice."Yes, it's great" I reply. He sits down next to me. "The names Lucas" he said putting out his hand to me. "Sammy," I replied shaking his hand. "So, you and Zack an item?" he asks. "No", I reply "we are just friends". I see Zack heading back he has a stern look on his face as he see's Lucas sitting next to me."Surprised to see you sitting here" Zack says sitting back down. "Hey Zack, I'm just introducing myself to Sammy here" Lucas replied. "I was actually going to ask her if she wanted to join me for a walk" I looked at him surprised."Thanks, but I'm good right now" I reply. I can feel Zack relaxing. "Oh okay, well I'll see you around then" he said getting up smiling at me before leaving. Jess and Austin came back shortly after, we decided to head back to Zack's as I was getting up I found my self scanning the area to see if I could see Lucas anywhere. No luck damn I thought to myself.
