CHAPTER 17 “I should be a year married today.” The words were muttered and sounded odd to her ears. A silence waited for an answer that didn’t come. “I should be a year married today.” The words came again, louder this time and closer to her. She looked around, and then it dawned on her. She had spoken those words. There was grass underneath her hands and grass stains on her white dress. Her right hand rested partially on the ring finger of her left hand, paused in a gentle caress of the silver ring and its single stone.
