Max vs Giovanni

Max’s gaze eventually falls into Giovanni’s body, and Giovanni is also looking at him simultaneously. Max gives him a nod while Giovanni smiled at him.

“Since the main characters for today’s match are ready, let’s all do the countdown! The match starts in 3…2…1.”

The countdown is very loud as every audience counted along Elrisa. When the count is down, Max is the first one who made his move. Sending out a few wind bullets towards Giovanni, Max tests the water, trying to determine whether Giovanni will evade or block his attack.

Looking at the fastly approaching wind bullets, Giovanni didn’t flinch at all as his hands glowed as if he is holding a ball of light. With the luminous hands, Giovanni caught all of Max’s wind bullets. The strange thing is, the wind bullets seemed to disappear when they came into contact with the glowing hands.

“Oh, look at that! The dark horse won’t go down without a fight and taking the initiative to attack Child of Light. Child of Light shows new moves that made him defend against the attack without breaking a sweat.”

Today’s match is graced with Elrisa’s full commentary as she explained to the audience about what is happening in the arena. As for the final, even the United Heroes association is paying more attention to it.

After seeing that his first attack doesn’t even do anything to Giovanni, Max didn’t panic at all. After all, it was only to see how Giovanni will react. Giovanni is now stretching his hand towards Max to launch his own attack in return for his wind bullet.

This is one of the moves that Giovanni has shown before. A light ray suddenly comes out from the glowing hands, and Max raised the wind to block in front of him. The wind wall doesn’t seem to be effective as the light ray managed to pierce right through it without any resistance. Looking at the beam of light that is heading towards him, Max tried to dodge, but the speed is too fast. He got hit on his left shoulder, and it causes some stinging pain as it couldn’t pierce through his hero costume.

On their first move exchange, Max suffered some losses from Giovanni. Max didn’t lose his will to fight at all. It even reignites his competitive spirit as Max is now covering his whole body in wind armor and moves towards Giovanni.

Max saw from Giovanni’s fight against Beastboy that he seemed to be pressured because of Beastboy’s persistent effort. Thinking back at Giovanni’s flickering body, he seemed to realize that Giovanni’s speed would then showed its full potential if he is given enough room to move. But it was all only Max’s deduction.

Seeing Max coming at him, Giovanni could easily dodge and kite Max from afar using his light beam. However, the fight won’t be interesting if he does that. Not to mention he is interested in finding out Max’s hidden power.

Giovanni prepared to fight in close range, looking at the approaching Max as his hand is still covered in illuminating lights. On the other hand, Max doesn't show any sign of stopping as he is going to tackle Giovanni in a full-speed body charge.

Realizing that Max is coming onto him with the purpose of colliding their body together, Giovanni’s body flickered and appeared few meters away, dodging the frontal charge.

Max, however, didn’t stop as he took a sharp turn and charged at Giovanni again. After four failed attempts, Max realized that he wouldn’t be able to achieve his plan. Looking at Giovanni that is still taking a wait-and-see approach, Max decided to just get into close-range battle as Giovanni also seemed to be expecting that.

Max then approached Giovanni with a slower speed. Stopping in front of him, Max launches punches which Giovanni easily evades. Giovanni himself is still having the upper hand as he closely examined Max’s attack.

Noticing that nothing is special, Giovanni frowned and called out to Max.

“It seemed that it was thinking of you too highly. I thought you have something different as you defeated Elica yesterday, but after facing you now, I didn’t see anything special.”

Max can only smile wryly at that declaration. After all, he knows that the thing that makes him able to defeat his opponent so far is the grey world and the white particle. Surprisingly, it didn't even appear today when he is facing Giovanni.

“Then, why don’t you end this quickly?”

“I am planning to do that.”

After saying that, Giovanni’s body then flickered as he is going on the offensive. Max's body went tense as he needs to defend himself while guessing where Giovanni would attack him from.

Giovanni’s speed is too fast for Max’s eye to follow. However, Max’s body, on instinct, ducked down, and at that time, a punch went past his body. If Max didn’t ducked just now, then the attack will surely hit him.

“Oh. You could dodge that. Not bad.”

Giovanni seemed surprised that Max could dodge his attack. from their interaction just now, he knows that Max won’t be able to keep up with his speed. It means that Max predicted his attack was coming and know the direction where it comes from as he ducked down.

While Giovanni thinks that Max has predicted his attack and dodged it, Max is the only one who knows the truth. He couldn’t follow Giovanni’s movement with his eye, more so predicting the attack.

If there is one of Max’s stats that stands out and enabled him to dodge the attack just now is his high sensitivity. When Kalina first tested his sensitivity, it is already nearing A-rank. After years of training, it has improved, and just now, Max could sense the movement of the elements in the air, which is how he manages to dodge the attack.

It wasn’t luck. It also wasn’t the grey world. It was Max’s sensitivity that enabled him to perfectly get out of the danger just now. Max himself doesn’t know his actual stats right now since Kalina asked him to get all D-rank evaluations at the hero examination's test. Only Kalina knows about Max’s stats right now.
