1st Round

“I see a lot of familiar faces. It was fortunate for me to be the host for this year's hero examination test since I know a lot about the heroes participating in this year's newbie competition. ”

Of course, all the newbie heroes cheered seeing Elrisa. Not only because of her friendly personality but her sexy figures that is such a treat for sore eyes.

“This year, competition will be divided into several rounds that are exciting and competitive. I don’t want to make the viewers at home wait for long, so let’s start right away! For the first round, you will all be entering a group competition.”

As they entered the venue earlier, each of them got a round electric device. As soon as Elrisa finished her explanation, the machine beeped, and a number is shown on it. Everybody immediately realized that they would be put into a team according to the number displayed on the device.

“Everybody that failed to get into their team in ten minutes will be eliminated.”

Hearing Elrisa’s explanation, everyone immediately went into a panic. Ten minutes seemed to be long, but with thousands of people here, there is no guarantee that they will be able to do it. Not to mention it become chaotic the moment the time limit is mentioned. There is even an enormous 10 minutes countdown timer displayed above the stadium.

Max also looked down to see the number displayed on his device. “It seemed that I would be in team 999. I don’t know whether it was a lucky number or not.”

The first question is how to find his team member. Definitely, shouting out the number won’t work as the people in the area tried to shout out their number with no result, and it only makes the scene more disorderly.

“723,124,333.”

Max can hear people shouting out their team number, but there doesn’t seem to be any effect. More importantly, the people here don’t even know how many people will be in one team.

While max is thinking about that, suddenly a loud explosion can be heard from a corner of the stadium, and everyone immediately looked in that direction. From where the explosion sound comes from, a large crater has been formed. It was clear that it was manmade as there’s a trace of a fist on the ground.

“My team number is 462. All those who have the same number, please gather around me, and we will move to the side to avoid this mess.”

Max is familiar with the owner of the voice. It was Iki Hawthorn. His method might seem brute, but it was effective. It also shows his hot-blooded spirit and managed to make himself stand out from the crowd.

This kind of action is loved by the broadcaster of the Olympics and by viewers at home. It immediately invites cheers from the people watching the events. Of course, Iki’s team member immediately went to him since he made his team number clear. It can be said that Iki’s team is the first one that has been successfully formed.

Everyone is also paying close attention to this since they could determine the number of people in a team. As soon as Iki’s group is formed and moved to the side, they immediately found out that it was five people per team.

Soon after, many D-rank newbies performed their best move to gather their team members. A colossal flame sign forming team numbers can be seen floating in the air, and they quickly become the second team that finished finding their member. Looking at the two teams' success, everyone doesn’t want to lag behind as they do their best to display their team number.

Max himself is trying to find his team member by looking around to see if anyone is putting up a 999 sign.

“Oh, it’s over there.”

Max can see a dolphin made out of the water with the number 999 carved on its body. It can’t be missed even in the middle of glorious displays from other heroes as it is eye-catching. Max followed the dolphin to a corner of a stadium and found four heroes have been waiting there.

“Hello!”

Max showed his electronic device with the number 999, and they immediately welcomed him to the group.

“Looking at the timer, there are still three minutes left. So I think we can use this opportunity to introduce ourselves and get to know each other.”

The one who is saying that is a fiery-looking man with a fifteen centimeters long pompadour hairstyle. His overall look is intimidating, but a loli girl refutes his suggestion.

“What if the next event is free for all battle among five of us? I would rather have us introducing ourselves after we know what the content of this round is.”

Max then nodded his head along with the other two people on the team. Since the loli girl refutes the man’s suggestion, the situation turned awkward, so all of them can only look at the timer and hope for it to end soon.

“Everyone, we’re entering the last ten seconds. Quickly find your teammates, or you won’t be able to participate in the competition. 4…3…2…1. Time’s up! For those who failed to find your teammate, please exit the arena. One team is made up of five D-rank heroes. For those who only managed to find less than that, please exit the arena too.”

“It’s not fair!”

“Yes, we haven’t even shown our ability, why we must be eliminated.”

“Yes, I don’t accept this.”

Of course, those that got eliminated don’t feel it was right for them to be sent home without having any chance of showing their capabilities.

“That’s not our fault. We have given you ten minutes to show your abilities. In those ten minutes, you could have performed your abilities to make you stand out from the crowd and be recognized by your teammate. Look at those who have managed to find their team. They clearly displayed their abilities.”

“That’s luck! I don’t accept this. This is only because of luck.”

“Then, if you have a stroke of bad luck to have a meteor fall on top of your head and die, will you blame the heavens? Anyway, it would be best if you guys didn’t make a fool of yourself. You know that this is broadcasted live throughout the world, right? What will the viewers think of your childish act right now? Just accept the fact that you’re eliminated like a man and cheer for the other that is still competing.”

After hearing that from Elrisa, the heroes complaining earlier can only swallow it by themselves and leave the stadium.

“Alright, since those who haven’t meet their team have been eliminated, let’s proceed to the next step!”
