Hyacinth vs Max III

When the bird couldn’t do anything as it was entangled with Max, he quickly grabbed the bird’s neck and put it on a chokehold. It was only a preparation move before Max does an over-the-shoulder throw. The super drill gantlets now stay on the ground near Max when he is doing this.

After he managed to throw the big bird away, he stepped on the whirling wind from the gauntlet that is spinning in place. As soon as his right leg is above it, as if he is stepping on a spring, his body immediately launched forward.

Hyacinth didn’t expect such kind of movement from Max. Once again, the five shield birds tried to turn into a blocking wall in front of her, and Max clearly has anticipated this since he saw it earlier. Gathering a ball of wind on his palm, Max sends it downwards, and immediately, the pressure emitted from the move sends his body upwards. He is jumping over the blocking shield.

Hyacinth didn’t even realize that Max right now has gone past the bird’s shield as her vision is blocked by it. While in the air, Max summoned the last of his power to send a wind bullet towards Hyacinth’s balloon.

If it was a battle to defeat the other party, Max might not be able to win since he has spent all of his energy. However, since the condition to win this round is by blowing up the balloon, Max still has a chance.

Hyacinth noticed Max’s attack with her A-rank sensitivity and asked the hummingbird to come and protect the balloon. However, she was just a fraction too late. Just when the hummingbird is going to protect it, the balloon already blows up.

“Hyacinth eliminated. Max’s team win.”

Looking at the outcome, Hyacinth let out a bitter smile as all of her birds returned to her sleeve, and Max landed in front of her.

“Nice fight. I got lucky there.”

“No, I know that you’re still hiding your real power. I can feel it.”

Max is surprised to hear Hyacinth saying that. However, it also makes him respect her more as she could accept her loss with a big heart.

“May we trade contact number later?”

“Sure.”

Max felt that there wasn’t any demerit in becoming her friend and asked for her contacts. After that, he returned to the waiting area alongside her.

“Sorry I lost.”

“It’s alright, miss Hyacinth. It’s us who is ashamed to have dragged you down.”

While Hyacinth received consolation from her teammate, Max receives a warm welcome from Jhonny, Norton, and Linda. However, Chloe is acting tough in a corner, not willing to praise him too much.

“Hmph, not bad.”

“Max, that was amazing. I never thought that we would be able to win that round after my mistake. That was super cool! I can’t believe you survived through the rock hand move.”

Jhonny is doing his best to praise Max to reduce the feeling of shame he has for being the first to be eliminated from the team.

“I’m just lucky. However, I think that the real MVP of this match is Linda. I think her contribution is the greatest.”

Max realizes that if it weren’t for Linda, he would have a hard time facing the opponent team. She has eliminated four of the enemy team member, and it wasn't wrong for Max to say that she is the real key player in this match.

Linda, however shy about it and being humble. “If it wasn’t for the chance you guys created, I won’t be able to eliminate even one person. It’s a team battle after all.”

With one win, the team's mood is getting better, and they are now waiting for the next phase of the newbie competition.

Max also realized that most of the team had finished their match, only a few teams left still entangled in battle. Of course, none of the strong contenders lost. Giovanni, Iki, Heinrich, Kieran, and Elica all got through the team round.

With that said, the round quickly concludes. After this second stage, 100 heroes are left.

“For those who got eliminated, don’t be sad, and thank you for participating. For the rest 100 heroes here, you’re the cream of the top of this year's hero examination test. Are you ready to show your worth?”

Elrisa is greeted with a loud cheer from the participant, and finally, the competition is getting tenser.

“Next stage of the competition will be individual rounds. After making sure that you’re performing well on the team, you will need to show how good you are. Aside from the hot newbie award, there will be the most popular awards voted by viewers and most fair play heroes voted by participants. So, this is the chance for you to shine! We will have a half-hour break so everyone who gets injured can get treated for fairness.”

Max also headed towards the treatment area since it was said that they could help restore everyone's energy. It was only applicable by using a unique ability. Max knows that Kalina’s powers also include this healing ability since she uses it when training. She could summon a healing plant that could mend Max’s wound and help with energy recovery.

Visiting the treatment tent, he saw many heroes lining up to get examined at the table. After getting examined, they will then lay down in a medical pod and then fill with liquid. Five minutes later, they go out feeling refreshed and fully healed. It seemed that the liquid contains healing properties and could replenish energy spent at the same time.

It didn’t take long before it was Max’s turn. When he is inside the medical pod and feels the liquid around him, he thinks that the effect of Kalina’s plant is better than this. He couldn’t complain, though since the United Heroes Association managed to provide this kind of healing for all participants, it seemed that they have splurge a lot of cash in this. It is to be noted that heroes that could use healing ability are rare, and the cost of such healing liquid that he is enjoying right now must be expensive.
