Mission Reward

1217 Words
The more Max thinks about it, the more he realizes that something must have been going on. However, he is still a new D-rank hero who still needs to work hard finding money every day. So he doesn’t want to overthink about it and change the topic. “I see. A-rank heroes and below support the current heroes’ world. Let’s contribute and become a good example. Marie, have you found a mission to take today?” “Max, I’ve gone past through your record and see that your best forte is finding a missing pet. That’s why I’ve found a similar mission for today. This one, please find my missing cat.” “Oh no, not cat again!” Max tried to run away from responsibilities after talking coolly about contributing and becoming an example. However, the mission has already been taken, and there’s no way to cancel it except if he wants to pay a penalty fee. So, with a heavy step, he walks out of the office to find the cat. Today, just like any other day, there’s nothing special happening as Max finished the mission. But, with Marie’s help, he is able to locate the cat much quicker than usual and completed the task just one hour after lunch. Even if he is able to finish a mission quickly, doing two missions in one day is nearly impossible unless the hero has high speed, stamina, and efficiency. On average, one mission is done per day. Returning to the association headquarters after delivering the cat, Max is reporting mission completion to get the rewards from the mission. Today, however, there’s something different as he makes his report. “Okay, Air Hero. The association has confirmed your mission completion. By the way, there’s a pending reward that we haven’t sent to your account.” “Pending reward?” “Yes, the amount of money is $300,000.” “Eh, that’s a lot of money. How is that possible?” “It is said here that you earned the bounty from subduing Crawley. Usually, a C-rank mission's maximum reward is only $200,000, but Crawley is considered to be half B-rank villains, and the reward is increased. Unfortunately, the money hasn’t been sent to your account since you haven’t made any report about the process of the battle.” Max finally remembers. He has told Kalina about what happened, but he hasn’t made any report to the association. That is why the money is still pending and hasn’t been sent to his account. As for his feat of defeating Yann and Bonio, it wasn’t recorded by the association, and it is considered as classified information. Hence, Max won’t get any reward from it. “Is it possible to make the report now?” “Yes. However, we will have to verify it first.” “Okay, no problem. So here’s what happened.” After reporting about what happened with Crawley, the mission receptionist then make a call to verify the information. Not long after, the $300,000 reward money has been delivered to Max’s account. “I couldn’t believe it. I worked hard for three months to get barely enough money to build the computer and rent a place, but suddenly I earned twice that amount. It seemed that being a high-rank hero is very lucrative. Well, I almost trade my life for it, so the risk equal to the reward. However, I don’t even know what I’m going to use the money for.” Mansions, supercars, being a high-rank hero with millions of income every month is almost like having a celebrity lifestyle. However, for Max, he doesn’t have that kind of wish yet. Not to mention, there are cases of heroes that fall from their primetime because they indulged in depravity and alcohol. Gambling life and immoral s*x party are one of the taboos that have caused many heroes to succumb in desperation and become a villain in the end. “What should I do with this money? Should I split it with big sis? Since we have a contract of 40-60, she should get $180,000. Let me make a call first.” Max took out his phone and pressed Kalina’s number. “Big sis, I’ve got good news.” “Oh, what is it about?” “I just got the money for defeating Crawley. It’s $300,000! Should I sent $180,000 to you?” “Oh wow, that’s a lot of money. However, you don’t need to send it to me. I don’t need any money from you yet. How about you use the money to buy something for yourself. After all, you never have any money to buy something for yourself. I only sent you money every month for your food allowance, and that’s it. Use the money to treat yourself.” “Even if you only sent me money for food allowance, that’s all I need, big sis. Buying something for myself. Hmm, should I get a car? Lately, I’ve been using the public bus to go to another district, and it’s becoming quite troublesome.” “Eh, are you talking about the smelly bus incident?” “Big sis! You’re teasing me again. But, yeah, I don’t want something like that to repeat.” “The first question, do you know how to drive a car?” “Erm, I don’t. but I can always learn how to drive one.” “Rather than a car, how about getting a motorcycle. $300,000 is barely enough to buy one.” “Eh? Isn’t a motorcycle is around $3,000?” “That’s a normal one. If you want a custom-made motorcycle with wheels that never get a flat tire, that will be costly. Custom-made heroes’ vehicles will have better armor and could even be used as a weapon to run down your enemy. Not to mention you won’t have to spend too much time learning how to ride a motorcycle than a car.” Max never think about it before, but heroes usually have their own vehicle. Alexandra with her helicopter and Max now realized why the helicopter looked different than normal ones. It must have come with extra armor and capabilities. When he is on Yuna’s team, their car also looked different from a standard vehicle. He didn’t realize it before, but that seemed to be the case. It should have come with bulletproof windows and enhanced armor. Not to mention minor modifications made to the engine, interior, and others. “Then, do you know where to get a good motorcycle, big sis?” “Of course, my old friend opened a hero’s vehicle shop. I’ll send you the location now.” “Thanks, big sis. I’ll be going there now.”
