Yuna's investigation

1213 Words
The wind exploded below Max, and it gives the boost that his body needed to reach the second floor where his room is located. The only problem is that the wind is only propelling his body upwards. To reach his room, he somehow needed to move forward too. “Ah, wind, please explode once again.” Max summoned a ball of wind behind him in his panic and once again made it explode to send his body forward towards his room. *bam* *crash* The result is as intended, but he touched the wall of his room due to the power. Thankfully, he managed to put Yuna down on the bed before he hits the wall. Max separated himself from the wall, looked at the mark where his body touched the wall and laughed. This is a rare occasion where he completely let go of all the stress on his mind and laughed just like peers of his age. “Haha, that was fun.” Max is laughing due to his action just now, which seemed to be funny and comical for him. Looking at Yuna that is now sleeping soundly on top of his bed, Max put a blanket over her body and sighed. “I guess for today; I need to sleep on the floor.” Max then take some clothes, laid them out on the ground and sleep on top of it. ****** “Hey, wake up.” Max can feel that someone is poking his nose. However, he can feel that it was something hard like a tree branch or a selfie stick. “Let me sleep five more minutes. My alarm clock hasn’t even rung.” “Who gives a care for your alarm clock? Where is this?” Max wakes up and realizes that usually, nobody disturbed his sleep. He also remembers that right now, there’s another person inside his room, Yuna. “Yuna! You’ve wake up?” Max looked at Yuna on top of his bed that is sitting while clutching her legs and poking him with a selfie stick that only God knows where she got it. “That’s not important. Tell me, where is this?” “This is my room inside the orphanage.” Hearing Max’s explanation, Yuna facepalmed herself. Max is confused, but it seemed he overlooked something important. “Max, do you realize my condition last night?” “Yes, it seemed that you are being chased by someone and asked me to run the first moment you saw me before you passed out.” “Then you should understand right. I am being chased by someone that I couldn’t handle to the point I need to run away. It would be best if you understood that since I have a hero license, the people that are chasing after me shouldn’t be good people and highly dangerous. For you to bring me to the orphanage, did it ever cross your mind that you’re putting the people in the orphanage into a dangerous situation too?” Hearing Yuna’s question, Max realized his fault that is putting the orphanage at risk. Thankfully nothing happened right now, but still, he is doing something that he shouldn’t have done. “It seemed you realized your mistake. Suppose the people that is chasing after me didn’t give up, or I didn’t manage to erase the imprint that they put on me. In that case, I am afraid that I won’t be able to open my eyes again or when I open it again, all I can see is the dead body of the children from this orphanage, including yours.” Max didn’t retort anything since he fully understands that one wrong step, and he could meet his parents in heaven without him realizing it. “So, how did you bring me in last night? I doubt you carried me through the entrance, right?” Max pointed at the window, and it immediately makes Yuna laughed. She must be thinking that he climbed the wall while carrying her strapped on his back or something similar. “Anyway, why are you in such a sorry state yesterday? Did you take a mission that you couldn’t handle and meet a powerful villain?” Max tried to divert the conversation in case Yuna doubted him and his superpower get exposed. “Ah, about that, Max. I think the enemy that we’re facing is the people that are out of our reach.” “What do you mean? Does it have something to do with Lindt and Vanya?” Yuna nodded, and she continues to explain to him of what happened. “So, I came to Vanya’s address and asked around. After getting a little bit of clue here and there, I finally arrived at a place that seemed to be their former hideout. I doubted it was their current location as I found it way too easily. It was something more like a trap since when I asked around about Vanya and Lindt, the next thing I know is someone launched a sneak attack on me.” Hearing Yuna’s explanation, Max could imagine her in a much more perilous situation than she made it out to be. Yuna is sensing the guilt and worry in Max expression as he might be thinking that she is in this sorry state partly due to his fault. “Thankfully, my sensitivity is higher than normal people. When I sense a disturbance in the air, I release my fire power thinly just like a spider web and detect the attack and dodge it. After that, I continue to run without looking back. Since I am running in a hurry, I tried to run in the direction of my fire imprint since I didn’t leave it in just anybody but people that is important and stronger than me. Well, you’re an exception. I was hoping that I could meet my colleagues and will be able to catch my pursuer with their help. Who knows that I run into you instead?” Max smiled bitterly as he didn’t know whether he should smile or cry. It was a good thing that nothing unexpected happened, and they managed to return safely to the orphanage. “So, what’s your plan for now?” “I believe the investigation about Lindt and Vanya need to be put on hold. At least until I am stronger than now. If not, I would only be courting death. It’s okay with you, right?” “Eh, why are you asking about me?” “After all, you’re the one who gives me the information and seemed to be eager to find them.” “Ah, if even the rising star of the hero world is saying that we need to put the search on hold, what can I say?” “Are you teasing me?” Once again, Max is being poked by the selfie stick before Yuna laughed and Max laughed along with her.
