Chapter Two: Her Thought My Medications

week had passed, and it had been a busy one, as usual. I woke up early some days to avoid being late for lectures, and other days I dealt with my number one enemy at the University Mr. Ade. He constantly made unwanted advances toward me. "Ahhhh, Damilola Adedayo, meet me in my office," he said after finishing his lecture and walking out of the class. I turned to Tayi, who looked at me with pity. "What does this man want from me again? I've told him repeatedly I'm not interested, but he won't listen." Tayi remained silent, but Oma, a coursemate, chimed in, "Maybe you should just give him what he's asking for." We hadn't noticed her eavesdropping on our conversation. "God forbid!" I exclaimed. "I'll never open my legs for that man. He looks like a walking disease." Oma approached us. "I'm just saying, exams are approaching, and trust me, he'll give you a carryover, frustrate your life, and might not let you graduate." I let out a frustrated hiss. "It's not just him; there's also Mr. Sani, who's even worse with his smelly breath." Oma advised, "Think about it, so he can get off your back." I stood firm. "I'm not doing such a thing. I'll not give in to his advances." I gathered my things and left the class. I walked into Mr. Ade's office, knocked, and pushed the door open. "Good day, sir." "Good day, my dear. How are you?" he asked, his eyes scanning me from head to toe, lingering on my chest. "I'm fine, sir, thank you. You asked me to see you why?" I inquired, trying to keep my voice calm despite the fear underlying it. "It's about your tests. You've had zeros on the last four. Wouldn't you want to change that?" He smirked, his eyes still roving over me. "I'd love that, sir," I replied, bracing myself for his inevitable advance. "Well, you know what to do," he said, his smile growing wider. "Just let me make sweet love to you, and you'll never fail in my class again." He bit his lower lip, his eyes gleaming with lust. "Thank you, sir, but I'm not interested," I said, turning to leave. "I'll make your life a living hell in this university, you stupid girl!" he spat. "I'm trying to help you, and you're being stubborn. Let's see how you graduate." I ignored him and walked out of his office, returning to the lecture hall. Overwhelmed with emotion, I burst into tears. After an hour, another lecture began, followed by two more. Finally, the day's classes came to an end. *** Another week passed, and the story remained the same. I had a 2:30 pm lecture, and I checked the time to find myself running late. I sprinted to the school premises, desperate not to miss the lecture, especially since it was Mr. Ade's class. He had made my life miserable for weeks. I arrived at the lecture hall, only to find him already inside. As I entered, he glared at me, his eyes piercing. "What are you doing in my class? Don't you know you're late?" he asked, his voice dripping with disdain. "Get out of my class," he ordered, pointing toward the door. I protested, "But sir, Abdul and chidi came in with me, and you're not telling them to leave." He smirked. "They arrived a second before you. Out!" I felt tears welling up as I walked out of the class. As I stood outside, another student entered, and Mr. Ade allowed her to stay. I watched as he continued to let students in while keeping me out. After two hours, the lecture finally ended. Mr. Ade emerged, saw me standing outside, and whispered in my ear, "You'll see, give me what I want, and this will stop." I remained silent, waiting for Tayi to exit the class. When she did, she approached me with concern on her face. "I'm sorry about what happened today." I shrugged. "It's fine." As we walked back to the hostel together, I couldn't shake off the thoughts of Tenisola. It had been two weeks since we met at the club, and her memory had become an addiction. I found myself constantly thinking about her beauty, smile, and voice. The weeks passed, and my longing to see her again intensified. I yearned to hear her talk, see her smile, and feel her hug. Her thoughts became a sanctuary, a place I escaped to when the university's challenges became overwhelming. "Let's go to the club this Friday," I said to Tayi, who had just finished cooking jollof rice and chicken with the money she got from the rich guy she'd been seeing. Tayi handed me a plate filled with jollof rice, two pieces of chicken, and a Fanta. "Oh, yes! Let's go to the club. But you're the one who wants to go hope everything's okay." As we ate, Tayi asked, "Did you meet someone that day?" I smiled slightly. "Kind of." "Who is he?" Tayi asked, chewing her food. I hesitated. "Well, it sounds weird, but... it's a she." Tayi burst out laughing. "Dami, so you're a lesbian?" I looked confused. "What's funny?" I asked Tayi teased, "My friend is a lesbian! I knew it!" I defended myself. "I'm not a lesbian." "So, why are you always pushing guys away? You're not even giving them a chance."Tayi asked I sighed. "Honestly, I just don't feel ready for any of that. I want to focus on my studies and my future." Tayi raised an eyebrow. "And what about when you're ready? Are you going to start dating then you know what I mean right?" I thought for a moment. "I don't know... maybe I'll just wait until marriage." Tayi chuckled. "You want to keep yourself for marriage, yet you masturbate." Tayi playfully rolled her eyes. Just then, Tayi's roommate, Shade, walked in. "Ah, jollof rice! Your man is really taking care of you." She said picking a piece of chicken from Tayi's plate "You'll pay for my chicken."Tayi joked Shade smiled mischievously while eating the chicken. "Shade, is Dami into women or men?"Tayi asked her Shade playfully replied, "Dami na confirm lesbian na!" (Dami is a confirmed lesbian!) "You see, I told you!"Tayi laughed "I'm not a lesbian, guys," I said, looking at them tease me. Tayi filled Shade in, "She met a woman at the club, so she wants us to go to the club this Friday." Shade, who was now enjoying Tayi's rice, commented, "The woman must be a beautiful person for Dami to want to go to the club." Shade's expression turned supportive. "Well, whoever makes you happy, we'll support you. All that matters is your happiness. If a miss makes you happy, we'll root for you, and if it's a mister, we'll still cheer for you." She said cleaning her mouth with the back of her hand after eating. "Guess what?" she added, making us turn to look at her with curiosity in our eyes.
