Time for war

1389 Words

Cole's POV In a few days, everything has changed. I stand at the entrance of the underground cells, the air thick with the smell of iron, sweat, and blood. The lights flicker slightly, casting harsh shadows against the concrete walls. Screams echo faintly from other rooms, but the one I’m here for is silent now. Nolan. I walk forward slowly, my boots heavy against the floor. The guards straighten when they see me, stepping aside immediately. The cell door creaks open, and there he is. Chained to the wall. Bruised. Bloody. Still smiling. That smile makes something dark twist in my chest. He lifts his head when he sees me, eyes gleaming despite the blood running down his face. “You might think this is the end, Cole,” he says calmly, like we’re just having a conversation over drinks.
