“Move,” I said, my voice low and firm, carrying the kind of authority that didn’t need to be raised to be obeyed.
The guards immediately stepped aside, clearing the path without argument or hesitation. Their reactions told me everything I needed to know.
They were already shaken, already aware that something irreversible had happened tonight. At this point, they knew better than to challenge me.
I tightened my hold around Lior instinctively as I walked, his small body pressed against my chest, his fingers still clutching the front of my jacket as if letting go meant falling into something darker.
His weight felt heavier than it should have.
The black car was waiting exactly where I’d ordered it to be, engine running, headlights dimmed but alert.
