Esme’s POV The sound of the gunshots shatters everything. For half a second, my brain refuses to accept it. Hospitals are not supposed to sound like this. Clean places. Safe places. But the sharp cracks echo down the corridor, loud and unmistakable, followed by screams and the chaos of feet pounding against tile. Raid moves instantly. He grabs Lior from my arms so fast I barely have time to react. My heart leaps into my throat. “Hey—” I start, panic surging, but he’s already turning, Lior pressed securely against his chest. “We need to get out now,” he barks over his shoulder, his voice sharp, commanding, leaving no room for argument.
