CHAPTER FIVE : MASTER ANGELO
Rosetta, who was scared, followed the direction where everyone's eyes were settled. The man stood up moving to the front, he walked gracefully to the stage and all eyes followed each of his steps. The room fell silent and the sound of his shoes' soul clicking against the tiled floor echoed through the place.
She saw him walk towards the stage. Every step of his bringing him closer to where she was.
As his view got clearer, his eyes were set on hers and hers on his. It was the man from outside that she asked to save her, his face was more visible now. She had seen plenty of handsome men back home in her town but none could compare to this man.
When he finally came closer, she took note of his dark eyes she noticed them outside but now that they were staring at her they looked darker like a empty emotionless abyss.
He had high cheekbones, eyebrows dark, his hair was covered by his hat but she saw from the little locks that showed, his hair was a thick black mane.
As they stared at each other, she saw something dark and dangerous lurk behind his eyes which put her alert. Stopping only when he came to stand in front of the stage.
"Don DeLuca!" The auctioneer greeted the man with a nervous undertone in his voice, "Are you buying this girl?"
The man didn't break his gaze away from the young girl who was staring just like he did. The auctioneer on seeing this took it in another way and bowed his head down quickly and pushed her head down so that she would show respect to one of the greatest mafia men, Don Angelo DeLuca.
Angelo broke his gaze away, he looked up at the auctioneer. "My right hand man will give you a check in the name of Angelo DeLuca"
"Of course" the auctioneer bowed smiling happily and grabbed Rosetta's hand.
"Keep your hands to yourself". Angelo warned.
"Sir?" The auctioneer didn't understand what he meant. He was overjoyed; he had just sold a girl for fifty million, happy was an understatement. That was money one of his kind could only dream of.
"Take your hands away from her"
The man didn't need to be told twice, he quickly moved his hand away from the girl whose hand he had been holding.
"You can collect her from inside " the auctioneer told him, keeping his distance from Rosetta as Angelo glared down at him.
Unlike the auctioneer who was of an average height of a man, this man who stood in front of them towered in his height.
With the rude auctioneer's hand not on her anymore, Rosetta wanted to look at the man who had bought her but wheb his gaze fell on her, she felt intimidated.
The man before Marco, came onto the stage and bowed his head respectfully to the man who had just bought her.
With the way he commanded the girls and had almost killed her, he seemed very petrified to be standing in front of this man.
"Do you need anything?"
"No of course not" Marco let out a small laugh.
Angelo didn't respond to it. Instead, he glanced at the young lady who stood in front of him. He dragged his cigar stick, puffing the smoke out in her face.
They moved backstage to not disrupt the auction, and they continued there.
Angelo placed a phone call to Ricardo, "Bring the car here" he ordered him.
"Will you be going home?" Ricardo asked him.
"Yes. Get the car here immediately" Angelo said, discarding his cigar stub into a waste bin.
She was the same girl from outside who begged him to save her, thought Angelo as he walked towards her. He wasn't surprised to see her there, he had expected she was going to be sold. Her hair and body was no longer drenched and now she was dry, the clothes she loved bearly appreciated her feminine curves. He wanted to drenched her again so he could enjoy looking at her gorgeous body.
Now that she belonged to him he had all the time in the world to do that.
Her blond hair was let down cascading on her shoulders to her waist. It was oddly long but he liked that.
Her blue eyes glistened in the room lights, she had bags under eyes meaning she had cried a lot. He examined her from head to toe, his eyes catching a bruise on her right arm.
Rosetta could feel the man's burning gaze at her and she wished he wasn't looking at her in such a way that made her want to hide behind a wall in fear. She didn't know what to do and cowered internally wondering what was going to happen to her now.
The man who had bought her didn't seem like an ordinary man.
"Don DeLuca" A man greeted him with his head bowed to show respect, the man who bought her didn't bother to respond, instead he walked towards her.
Rosetta hadn't noticed as she was looking down at the ground she saw his silhouette. He held her by the chin and lifted her head up, his dark eyes inspecting her closely.
Her eyes widened when he grabbed her arm. "Who did this to you?" He asked, and she was too surprised to reply to him with his sudden forwardness over her.
"Answer me"
"The man ...outside in red" she answered stuttering. He didn't say anything to acknowledge her reply.
"Don DeLuca" Marco bowed as Angelo came to him. "Do you need anything?"
"Do you have a sharp object like a dagger?" he asked in a cool deep tone that seemed harmless but Marco still shivered as the man spoke and only nodded in response as he brought out a dagger from his pouch.
"Is it very sharp?" Asked the mafia lord, bringing the dagger close to his face to inspect it.
"Yes. It's very sharp" Marco confirmed
"Nice" he remarked, twisting the dagger slowly in his hands. Within the blink of an eye, Rosetta didn't expect it when Don DeLuca used the daggers to stab Marco's shoulder. He had been stabbed with the same dagger he had given the Mafia lord.
Marco yelped in pain feeling the burn on his shoulder, the pain spreading across his entire arm, "Don DeLuca please I apologize"
"Why did you scar her? you used this same dagger to hurt her. This is for that." he said calmly, his deep voice holding power and danger.
Rosetta realized why he had done that and her heart shuddered in its little cage. He did it because of her.
"Please forgive me" he cried in pain. Angelo scoffed, ignoring his pitiful behavior that didn't move him.
"Let's go" Angelo commanded, speaking to Rosetta, she slowly moved toward him and Angelo's patience ran out.
"I don't have all day" he commented deadpan, he could see how hesitant she was to come forward, he only took two strides towards her, his long legs made the journey shorter.
“I don’t like being disobeyed” He stated firmly frightening her and she quickly moved outside. They moved towards the car and Rosetta didn’t want to get in, she didn’t want to go with them. Angelo had already gotten into the car; he had lost his patience and refused to wait for Rosetta.
“Ricardo let me drive” he ordered his right hand man to sit in the driver’s seat. He started the gear, the engine's sound was powerful and Angelo put it in a high speed.
Rosetta was confused with what he was doing. He drove away and left her there, she watched the car go till she couldn’t see the back lights again.
Stranded, she stood staring around, it was cold and she was abandoned in the middle of the road. Her ears picked up a sound, it was the sound of a car coming in full speed and it was heading in her direction.
In shock she stood staring at the car, her brain couldn’t comprehend anything at that moment, in the next second she let out a scream as the car reached closer.
