God Xolotl

It has been 3 hours since that stupid child Yaretzi’s Nahual Tochtcli had scratched me, and I am starting to see the God Xolotl and his dogs, the Xoloitzcuintli.

“Tlatocapilli Alacan/ Nobleman Alacan! I have seen that the hallucination has started, and you have called me to help you, but you have broken the trust and instructions I gave you, and now I must take you with me. You are genuinely a stupid man for someone I have trained since he was ten years old. Did I not tell you not to harm the girl before she became queen?” Said God Xolotl

I am quiet and then nod to God Xolotl.

“Did I not tell you, Tlatocapilli Alacan, that we would have to wait till she is about to receive the crown from taking her down?” asked God Xolotl

I look down and nod.

“Then why did you not wait till it was time for you to make the right move and instead do the opposite of what I have trained you?”, Asked God Xolotl.

I move my eyes to look at God Xolotl and respond, “ I never thought that she would be crazy enough to defend a stupid servant's daughter. I thought it would be for another reason instead of this one!”

God Xolotl looks at me and responds,” Well, now you know that today was the day, and now you are poisoned. Her Nahual Tochtcl has cut you in multiple places on your body, and now it is starting to take effect. You will have one chance not to become crazy and die gruesomely.”

“Tell me what do I have to do, God Xolotl? I do not want to die, and Yaretzi is to blame in all this.” I ask.

“ You must go and find Yaretzi, she is still with the Tepatiqui sleeping. Then you will say. God Mictlantecuhtli, I offer you Yaretzi so that you may come and help me reign this land with God Xolotl. With that, he will remove her Nahual Tochtcl nails where the venom lies, and you will drink the venom from each nail. In doing so, you will recuperate, and the venom will leave your body ”, said God Xolotl.

I am looking at God Xolotl with ojos de que- eyes that say what. This is because God Mictlantecuhtli is known to be ruthless and does not wait to take everyone that calls upon him to take him to hell. It has been said that one day a woman called for him and asked him to take her husband. God Mictlantecuhtli asked what she could offer him to do such work. The woman offered her 3-month-old child, and God Mictlantecuhtli agreed.

God Mictlantecuhtli went down and talked to his queen Mictecacíhuatl and talked to her about their new offering that was offered by the woman. Goddess Mictecacíhuatl told God Mictlantecuhtli that she would modify it so that the woman would fully receive what she wanted. Still, no one knew what would come from Goddess Mictecacíhuatl's mouth until the demons finished their task.

The next night God Mictlantecuhtli sent some of his demons to go and get the woman’s husband he told the demons where to find the family and what would be the offering. The demons became excited, this is because it had been over three centuries since they had tasted a live person and not only ate from the skin of the dead.

At night the woman could hear movement next to her house and saw that her husband was completely asleep. The woman shook her husband and told him that she had heard something. Her husband gets up and checks everything, but when he turns around and is about to enter his house, the demons grab him and hold him in place. The husband screams at his wife and tries to have her help him, but in the end, she begins just to laugh and gives them her 3-month-old child.

The husband becomes astonished and starts to scream at his wife. She explains to him that she is doing that because she is tired of having that baby scream all of the time, her inability to sleep well, and him being her husband just being one of the worst men in the world. The husband does not know what to say, and his head drops. He thought he had cared for his wife the best he could, but she always asked for more, and he was a commoner.

The husband starts to cry and tells the woman that he hopes she lives the life she deserves and that she is haunted for the rest of her life by offering her husband and child. What would come next from the demons astonished the woman and her husband.

While the woman was laughing, she did not see a demon in the back of her waiting till she spoke her truth. Once that was completed, he took hold of the woman, and she was astonished. She started to scream at the demon that her husband and child were with the other demons and that she was meant to be left alone.

The demon started to laugh and then told her that Goddess Mictecacíhuatl and God Mictlantecuhtli both agreed that she would be the one to be sent to the underworld, but before that, she would become the offering.

The woman’s eyes were wide open, and she started to scream. She knew what would happen to her and could not avoid her punishment. Right there started to cry and say to her husband sorry and her child. Her husband looked at her with sadness because even though she was an awful mother and wife, he still loved her.

Before the man could do anything, the demons released the man and give him his baby. He tries to talk to a demon about his wife, but by the time he can speak, the demons have taken his wife. The husband screams her name, but all he can hear is the screams of his wife being eaten by the demons. The husband sends a little prayer to his wife and the gods, saying thank you for sparing his child and his life.

While I remember that story, God Xolotl calls my name multiple times, trying to have me look and listen to him. When I return to reality, God Xolotl says, “ If you can not complete this task, my Xoloitzcuintli will guide you to the path where Goddess Mictecacíhuatl and God Mictlantecuhtli will be waiting for you. Remember, you can not run or hide from me.”

With this new information, I have entirely new strength and energy to go do what is needed, or the venom's effects will take over and eventually kill me.

I arrive at the Tepatiqui and try to see if I can find Yaretzi, but to my surprise, all I can see are the soldiers posted next to a room. If I am not wrong, I believe the guarded room should be Yaretzi’s.

I walk around the Tepatiqui home and find that Yaretzi’s room has an opening where the roof and the wall connect. I try to find something that would give me a boost to be able to see Yaretzi and if there are any other soldiers inside. I find some boulders near the Tepatiqui home and stack them with sticks and stumps. Once I have reached the correct height, I can see how Yaretzi is situated.

Yaretzi’s POV

I do not know why but Tochtcli is going crazy. He is going in circles and telling me,” You have to wake up, Yaretzi! I know you are in pain, but there is no time, and you will have to move!”.

I look at Tochtcli as if he has another head and respond,” Why do you want me to move Tochtcli? We have just been injured, and the Tochtcli told us not to move because our wounds would open again and we might die.”.

Tochtcli hairs start to stand, and I feel my body is heavier. When I start to wake up and open my eyes, I am startled by staring into someone else menacing eyes, and I know it is” Nobleman Acalan.”

Nobleman Acalan POV

I have started to nudge myself at the small hole the house offers, and with that, I am being cut by the twigs the ceiling of the house has. I can insert my right hand and then push my right leg to the rocks with my left leg at the wall. With the strength of my left arm entered Yaretzi’s room easier. Before I know it, I am midway inside the room with both hands pushing hard to the wall and my feet flying, making me feel I can fly.

With one last push, I drop to the floor and make a loud noise, but immediately go to one of the darkest corners hiding from the soldiers. Once the soldiers hear me, they immediately enter the room and only see Princes Yaretzi sleeping beside that stupid servant girl’s daughter Chimalli.

The soldiers wake Chimalli and tell her she must leave and return tomorrow when Princes Yaretzi can receive her. Chimalli turns around and says,” Goodnight, Icuh. I will see you tomorrow.”. Chimalli leaves the room, and only I and Princess Yaretzi are there.

I walk out of the corner and get close enough to the soldiers. I hear one of the soldiers say to the other that he will go to the bathroom. He will be right back. With that new information, I hold off until I can not hear anyone or the soldier and take a stance at the back of the soldier taking the post and kick him in the head. His head hits the wall with the force of my kick, making him unconscious.

I do my best to have the unconscious soldier moved to another room and wait in Yaretzi’s room for the other soldier to return. In less than 5 minutes, the other soldier returns and looks for the first soldier. Once he peaks his head inside Yaretzi’s room, I hit him in his temple at his face and hold his neck until he knocks out. I start to giggle because Yaretzi will never be an issue for me once I complete the task God Xolotl sent me.
