Against all logic and reason

Chapter 3 Adrien was sitting at his grandfather’s cabin on the porch. His grandfather was leaving again. He would never tell anybody where he was going or when he was coming back. “Son, I think you shouldn’t be so worried. In the past werewolves protected humans, and that’s what you did last night.” Adrien nodded heavily, “I know, but I wanted to kill him when he was still inside. Before he did anything!” Blackhawk was organizing his last things. “Maybe somehow you could sense he was having bad thoughts? I don’t know… I need some more answers.” Adrien stood up, “Grandfather, this girl. Sienna… I have never felt anything like it. She touched me and my skin tingled. Like all of my nerves were awakening.” Blackhawk seemed deep in thought, “that is very interesting,” he was talking more to himself by now. “I can’t stop thinking about her. Every thought is about her. Maybe because I saved her?” Blackhawk shook his head fiercely, “that is definitely not the reason.” He sounded very sure of himself. He began rushing Adrien out the door and closed it behind them. His black wolf by his side. “I promise I am going out to find answers. I will be back,” and began walking towards the woodlands behind his house. “Take care of yourself dear boy.” Adrien waved, “you too grandpa,” and he was gone. Adrien sat with his back against the cabin wall, watching the woodlands. Sienna. He couldn’t stop thinking about her. He hadn’t slept since that night and it had already been a few days. He just lay in bed, staring at the ceiling and thinking about her eyes, her face, her scent. If he believed in magic, he could swear that he was under a spell. He doesn’t even remember the last time he ate. That night scared him too. He wanted to shift into the wolf and rip that guy apart. He already felt the strong urge when he brushed by him at the club. He knows better than to shift next to a human or hurt a human. He didn’t remember hurting those women, but he was fully aware of wanting to kill that guy touching Sienna. Her scent was addictive, and so was the smell of her fear. He couldn’t understand what he was feeling or what was happening to him and the one person who might have the answer, was gone. Adrien let his gaze roam aimlessly. A black wolf stood silently beneath a faraway tree. His eyes were a deep blue. He was the Alpha, just like Adrien. Soon three smaller wolves joined him. Two were grey and one was as white as snow. Many packs of wolves lived on their territory. They lived peacefully with each other. But the wolves usually stayed away from the werewolves; it was rare to see them out in the open like this. Adrien knew that his grandfather cared for them. He was the only werewolf in the pack, who walked with the wolves. They must have come here to look for him as well. Adrien’s wolf was also black, just like this Alpha. The two grey wolves turned back, as the white wolf nuzzled at his neck. She was probably his female, Adrien assumed. He lay his head against the cabin wall. He remembered his grandfather telling him about the wolves. Every pack had a male and female Alpha. They usually mated for life and were the only wolves in the pack to have pups. They usually mated between January to March, and it was already the end of December. Sienna. She occupied his mind. He had to somehow see her again. Her touch made him smile. He had not had a reason to smile before that night. Sienna. Her name warmly savored on his lips, as it started to snow. Clarissa knocked softly on Sienna’s door. Maybe today she will finally open up. Ever since that night, Sienna wouldn’t come out of her room. She wouldn’t come out of bed. Clarissa knocked softly again, but nothing. She sighed heavily. “Sienna I am going to the bookstore. My shift ends at nine, so I will come right back, okay?” Silence. She remembered seeing Sienna in the alley, her skirt a bit torn. They had seen ripped panties on the ground, Clarissa later understanding they were Sienna’s. When they found her, they could barely understand what had happened. Sienna was assaulted and somehow Chris was on the ground, a giant gash in his head. He couldn’t remember what happened even after he was treated in the hospital. Sienna didn’t say much. She wouldn’t talk to anyone and seemed to get weaker. Clarissa wasn’t going to let this go on for long. If she had to, she would get a doctor here. Sienna heard the front door close and lock. Finally. Clarissa missed two shifts, so she could watch over her, and she just wouldn’t leave her alone. Sienna jumped out of her bed. She had waited for Clarissa to go. She didn’t want to see or talk to anyone after what happened with Chris, except the man who saved her. His eyes haunted her nights. Could she really have seen their color change? She was in shock, and he was much taller than she was, but she was sure of what she saw. Sienna walked into the kitchen to drink some water. Her head was killing her. She had taken pills earlier that day, but nothing worked. Her head was throbbing. While drinking another tall glass of water, she looked outside the window, noticing that snow had started coming down. She was consumed with him entirely. She couldn’t think of anything else but his eyes. She put on her heavy coat and warm hat, that her grandmother had sent her. She had decided last night that she would go to the last place she saw him. After a quick drive she parked her little car near the club. She had been there many times before, usually when they had psytrance raves. There weren’t a lot of clubs or bars around here. All the students knew the few that were. She had never seen him there before, or on campus. She was pretty sure she would have remembered him. He was striking. The sheer size of him alone, was enough. But his face and his eyes. He was beautiful. Native American and strong. The snow was coming down harder now, and the street was quite empty. It’s now or never. She got out of her car and shut the door. It was cold, and she pulled the wool nit hat over her ears. She walked slowly along the wall where Chris had pinned her, hoping not to find any evidence of the assault she went through. She came to the corner, where the alley was. It was in there where it all happened; could she go in there again? She remembered him pushing her behind him. She remembered clutching his shirt. He was so hard underneath, like he was made of stone. He was enormous, but she wasn’t scared of him. Sienna inhaled deeply and turned the corner.  The alley was quiet and bare. The snow was pilling up on the ground and it seemed peaceful. No evidence of what happened there just a few nights before. Sienna shook her head. How crazy was she to even be here? This wasn’t the best part of town, and she was standing alone in a dark alley hoping to meet her mystery savior. It was beyond ridiculous. She walked out of the alley towards her car feeling foolish, squinting her eyes up against the flakes blurring her vision. Out of nowhere, there he was, coming her way. She stopped dead in her tracks as he walked up to her. He seemed even bigger in the daylight. He hadn’t seen her yet. His gaze was focused on the ground. He was going to crash into her if she didn’t move. She wanted to call out or maybe even jump to the side, but her body wouldn’t move. With his last stride, Adrien lifted his gaze. He thought he smelled something warm and familiar. She was just standing there, in a big coat and a big wool cap. Just standing there, waiting for him. “Sienna,” he whispered as he stopped inches from her. She nodded. This is what she wanted, but she didn’t actually expect it to happen. What are the chances? He smiled, and he was even more beautiful. His strong musk made her knees wobble, and his fierce gaze kept her locked to his magnetic eyes. She wasn’t even sure she was blinking. He drank her in, as he looked over every inch of her face, her piercing blue eyes drilling into his. “How are you, Sienna?” he managed to say. She was so glad he talked. His husky voice managed to pull her out of her daze. “I… I am okay, thanks to you.” She closed the gap between them, stroking his cheek. “You saved me that night. I don’t know what would have happened to me.” Her touch sent shivers throughout his body, and she saw his eyes change a bit again. Becoming more amber than black. He lay his large palm over her hand, as he inhaled her scent, feeling sparks in his skin as he touched her. “I am just glad I was here.” Sienna’s curiosity was getting the best of her. “You won’t believe this, but I actually came here looking for you. What’s your name?” she finally whispered. “My name is Adrien.” They stood in silence for a while, her hand on his cheek and his palm on hers. Snowflakes swirling around them, dancing in the breeze. “I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about what happened. I just wanted to talk to you. That’s why I came down here.” He smiled softly, “That’s why I came here too. To find you.” They stood staring at each other. “Sienna, would you like to get some coffee… with me?” he smiled again nodding towards a small café on the corner. Sienna drew her hand back. “Yes.”  The café was empty. The snow was coming down harder now, and it seemed that soon they would get stuck here, but they didn’t seem to care. Adrien knew the weather was dangerous, especially for a human like Sienna, but he had just found her. How could he leave her now? And because of some silly snow? They ordered their coffees, but the woman behind the bar put it in to-go cups. They were closing because of the blizzard. Aiden chuckled, “I think she is telling us to leave.”  Sienna laughed. She hadn’t even noticed a blizzard; she barely noticed the snow. They walked out of the café and that’s when Adrien noticed the blizzard. Sienna’s little car was getting buried in a white blanket. “My truck is over there, and I have snow tires.” Sienna wasn’t planning on arguing. He helped her climb into the passenger’s side of the massive truck and walked around to the driver’s side. He had on jeans, a thin T-shirt and a leather jacket. Sienna wondered how he wasn’t cold. He jumped in the driver’s seat and turned on the engine. As it roared to life, he turned on the heat. “That’s better,” he said sipping his coffee. Sienna took her cap off and turned to him. “Adrien,” she let his name role off her tongue slowly. “Do you go to school here?” He shook his head, “no. I live on the reservation.” She smiled, “that’s incredible. It must be so beautiful.” He took another sip of his coffee. “It is. Especially in wintertime.” Sienna was getting warm. She put her cup down and took off her heavy coat. Her scent was so strong now. He would recognize it anywhere. It made his pulse race. He was starting to feel warmer too, as he took off his leather jacket. He only had a thin T-shirt underneath. His muscles tight and bulging against the thin fabric. “So, what do you do? On the reservation?” He thought for a second, “I am like the sheriff. It’s different on the reservation than here.” She knew what he meant. She had heard stories from Clarissa’s dad on cases that he took up there. “Well, that’s sounds exciting,” she exclaimed. Seriously could he be any more masculine? “It has its moments, I guess. How about you?” She was going to sound very grey in comparison. “I am a grad student. Psychology.” He genuinely looked impressed. “And to add to that excitement, I also work in the University library.” He laughed. It made her quiver. It was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard. “That is exciting,” he chuckled. “My actually focus more on the brain; specifically daydreaming.” His eyebrows rose in surprise as he hung on her every word. “Once daydreaming was considered all bad. Today we know there is incredible potential to daydream. It can cause problems, basically it can either make you or break you. The great geniuses and inventors of our time daydreamed big. I think it’s a force, an energy we just don’t fully understand yet.” She also finished her coffee and put her cup down. “I came here especially for the research on daydreaming.” He smiled, “Well, I am glad you came here.” She felt herself blushing. “Daydreamer,” he whispered. Sienna felt her core tremble. Something was definitely shifting inside of her. She looked down at her hands. “I haven’t been able to sleep since that night,” she whispered. “Yeah, me too.” She looked back at him. “Nothing like that has ever happened to me. I am always so careful,” she said quietly. “You can’t blame yourself, Sienna. He is just a really bad guy.” She looked away. He made it sound so simple. “I know a little about guilt,” his voice was shaking. He sounded so vulnerable. “It eats you up if you let it. But you didn’t do anything to deserve that.” She blushed. “I liked him. I had a crush on him. He knew that… God I feel so stupid!” Adrien felt something evil stir inside of him. He didn’t like to hear that she had a crush on someone and worst, that she feels that it was her fault. “So what if you liked him? I am a man. I would never keep going if somebody asked me to stop” He stated. His voice was so commanding she felt like she whole heartedly believed him. Those women must have asked him to stop. They were probably screaming for him to stop, but he couldn’t hear them. And now their families don’t know what happened to them and they were just gone. He is much more of a monster than Chris could ever be. “I think I should take you home now Sienna, before they close the roads.” He said filled with self-loathing and guilt.  Sienna suddenly realized how the world had become buried in fluffy, soft, white snow as they were talking. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. My car is probably buried by now.” He reached over her to grab the seat belt. His face close to hers. Sienna just wanted to pull his face in and feel his soft, full lips on hers. His musky scent was engulfing her completely. He pulled the seat belt and buckled her in. Then he buckled himself in and darted out of the parking lot. He drove slowly, since the weather was getting reallybad. The sky was darkening and that was a bad sign. They were quiet for a while, not knowing what to say to each other. Did they both feel this unbelievable magnetic pull? Were they going mad? Suddenly, something black ran into the road. Maybe a big dog. Adrien hit the brakes and automatically his enormous arm stretched across her chest to safeguard her. She grabbed his arm, as the truck came to a stop. She was holding on tightly to his rock-hard arm. It felt like he was made of pure stone, but he was also soft and warm. She felt every nerve in her body come to life. So did Adrien. Her scent was everywhere, enchanting him like a drug. There were no other cars in the road, and he couldn’t wait any longer. He unbuckled his seat belt and moved into her, to make sure that she was alright. He was so close to her; she felt his breath on her lips. She had never felt safer in her entire life. “Sienna, I… I think I really need…” she didn’t let him finish his sentence as she gently moved in and kissed him. Her lips finally touching his. He cupped her head between his giant palms and deepened his kiss. His tongue tasting her lips gently, parting her lips, as their tongues began tasting each other. She wrapped her hands around his neck, pulling him in closer to her, drinking him in. It seemed like time had stopped. The world around them had faded away, and all that was left were the two of them, in this warm truck, moaning softly into each other, as their lust and desire grew with every touch. They hadn’t even realized how long they had been kissing, savoring each other, until someone honked behind them, awakening them back into reality. “Wow…,” Sienna panted as he backed away slowly. Adrien straightened back and kept driving, stunned by what just happened. After a while, they had reached her apartment building. Clarissa texted that she was leaving the bookstore early, but to go to her dad’s house. He wasn’t feeling well, and she was worried. Sienna texted back that she was fine, and maybe Clarissa should stay there overnight since the weather was bad. Was she actually setting up some trap to seduce him? He parked the car and shut off the engine. Sienna began unbuckling herself and putting her heavy coat back on. The words seemed to come out on their own. “Adrien, would you maybe like to come up? The weather is…” “Yes,” he said before she was able to rationalize her invitation. He pulled on his Jacket and got out of the truck. He was at her door faster than seemed possible. He helped her out and shut the door behind her. She smiled at Willy, the doorman, as she walked into the building. He smiled back, but sterned as he saw Adrien. Sienna didn’t know how intimidating he actually was to other people of all species. They reached her apartment as Clarissa texted that her dad was probably going to be alright, but she would be staying the night. They came in and Sienna took off her coat. She put her phone into the charger, since her battery was low, just in case the power went out. She turned to ask him if he wanted something to drink, but his lips met hers before she could get a word out. He threw off his jacker and lifted her by her thighs as she crossed her legs over his waist. This was beyond logic. It was just erotic. He deepened his kiss further, as he tasted every inch of her, licking and sucking her tongue. His kisses were passionate and hungry. Sienna, the one who took personal safety to a whole new level, who was assaulted a few days ago, had a stranger in her apartment. She barely knew his name, but she knew she wanted him. All of him. He pulled back to catch his breath. “Sienna I am sorry. I don’t know what came over me,” he began but she nodded her head. “My roommate isn’t coming back and I don’t want to be alone tonight,” she whispered. “Which one is your room?” she pointed in the direction, and he carried her, still embraced in their kiss. He lay her on the bed and got on top of her, caging her between his enormous arms. They were like two pillars of steel. He could feel his body relaxing for the first time in a very long time. Maybe ever. He nuzzled her neck, inhaling more of her scent. “Daydreamer,” he whispered in her ear again. That seemed to do the trick as she grabbed his face, pulling him back into her kiss. She was drinking in every last drop of him, their tongues dancing, intertwined, devouring each other. She has kissed before and so has Adrien, many times, but not like this. This was different, it was as if they were breathing life into each other.  His black, raven hair tickled her cheek, and she let out a soft giggle. He wanted to make her giggle like that for the rest of his life. He lay on his side and pulled her in to his chest. She fit perfectly in his arms, as though she was sculpted specifically for his body. He could feel the warmth and serenity spreading through his tense limbs. A quiet, inner peace was coming over him. Sienna could feel it too. She also felt how tired she was from not having slept the past few days. All the tension melting away. She pulled away from his soft lips and lay her head on his broad chest, as he adjusted himself into the most comfortable position. He had never felt so calm in his life. They were drifting off into a deep sleep. “Adrien,” she whispered before his eyes closed. “Hold me…”  They hadn’t even taken off their shoes, as they both fell asleep, nestled in each other’s warm embrace.
