Spring Break
Throughout the month that followed, taking a note from his new friend, AC Maughan, who’d also once given up on the silly notion of romantic human companionship in favor of a pet, Stone started the process of adopting a fur baby. Just in time to coincide with spring break, he drove down to the southern tip of the county on the last Friday of classes. At an animal rescue organization there, he picked up a beautiful golden lab, with soulful brown eyes that read love.
Wanting to do everything just right, Stone immediately searched out a basic training course, discovering a listing for one the next day at Pet Mart.
“‘Walk-ins welcome. The class starts promptly at nine,’” he told his new buddy, reading from the website. “Wanna go to school tomorrow?”
