"Nathan, what is happening here?"
We stopped at what was heard from behind us.
"Is she the reason for all this?" The woman asked irritably in anger. I could see his sharp gaze at me as if she wanted to slap me.
"Veronica, why are you here?" Nathan said calmly as he immediately approached the woman and grabbed her arm.
"... let's talk outside, not here."
"And why? Are you afraid your woman will hear us fighting?" She scolded Nathan as she removed his grip on her arm.
Nathan looked at me with concern and pulled Veronica out. She struggled but she couldn't handle the strength of Nathan's grip on her.
"Calm down, will you? Don't be scandalous here," he said.
The two exited the kitchen and went to the living room of the house. I was left speechless and unable to think of what to do as I witnessed the incident. I don't know who she is in Nathan's life. I wonder why she was so angry when she saw us cuddling and kissing. I thought of just leaving but curiosity prompted me to listen to what they were talking about.
I slowly made my way out of the kitchen toward them. I don't want to interfere, but I also have the right to know the truth. I peeked slightly at the two of them from behind. I could hear them quarreling because of the strength of the woman's voice. Only now have I noticed her beauty. Based on physical appearance, I can say that Veronica's beauty is goddess-like. She is not very white but you will notice the smoothness of her skin. She is also sophisticated when it comes to dressing like a rich and powerful woman.
As I stared at her, I suddenly felt belittled as I asked myself if everything Nathan had told me was true. Why me and not her? Comparing the two of us, I'm not at Veronica's fingertips, and most of all, I'm a paid woman.
"I haven't even signed our divorce papers yet but you're already flirting with her? Doesn't that seem like an insult to me? She shouted in anguish yet full of anger.
I saw Nathan stay silent. He didn't even react to Veronica. Is it guilt or shame? I don't know. All I know is that she's still his wife. He lied to me. They're not separated yet. But why did Nathan tell me he was divorced? From what I heard from Veronica, I immediately left them. Nathan noticed me and stopped me as I was leaving their house, but I didn't listen and continued anyway. I ran out as fast as I could with tears falling in my eyes. I was hurt. I thought it was him who could love me for who I am.
