Chapter 3

I ignored Chloe's mockery and repeated myself to Jack. "Didn't you hear me? I said go prepare formula." Jack looked slightly uncomfortable under my gaze. Frowning, he took the formula canister from the nurse and clumsily tried to figure it out. Because she was hungry, the baby cried so hard it sounded like she was being torn apart. Nothing could calm her down. Chloe watched with great interest from the side. She even took out her phone and started taking pictures of Jack. I tried to rush forward, but the nurse standing nearby moved even faster. She grabbed the baby and shouted, "The baby is aspirating! Hurry! Send her to a pediatric emergency!" Chloe immediately burst into tears and threw herself into Jack's arms and said, "I didn't mean it… I really didn't know this would happen… Emily, please don't blame me…" Jack held her tightly and turned toward me, shouting angrily, "Look what you've done! You scared Chloe! She was just trying to help! Why are you staring at her like that?!"
