And without pause.
He concluded: “Whatever all this is about, and it’s utterly beyond me, two things are uppermost in my mind. Firstly, I will finish this job — for several reasons, not the least of which is that working will help keep me sane. But as well as that, I’m a professional surveyor and it’s what I’ve been sent to do, and, in any event, it seems that this is what everyone — Adroyan, First Comers and the Diirredyn — want me to do.”
Badr spoke for the first time. “Maybe that’s a good reason for not doing the work.”
