CHAPTER 52The gulls scattered out of Josyff’s awareness like dead leaves caught in a bustling autumn breeze. They wheeled and vanished into the distance as though into a vortex, drawing the bright blueness of the sky after them. As it stretched and swirled it became a myriad rainbow colours which began to flow about Josyff, spinning and turning, now graceful, dancing, now giddying. As he watched, Josyff thought he could make out familiar shapes but none was still long enough for him to identify it. They had the elusive quality of a sidelong glimpse into a place not accessible to the normal senses. All around him too were sounds, equally familiar and elusive. They rose and fell in harmony with this subtle confusion... And, without any sense of transition, he was gazing up into a blue sky
