-MIA- The audience rose to their feet in an ovation. My mind barely registered the blur of bodies as I climbed off the stage. Someone’s eyes were holding me captive, pulling me in like gravity. Asher was swimming through the crowd with purpose, trying to reach me. People stepped into my path, trying to say things that hit my brain like static. "Great… show… singer… Beautiful…" But my goal was him. And finally—after what felt like ages—I reached him. His rough hands lifted to my face, sweeping my hair back with care. "You were incredible." His voice was deep, straining to reach me above the noise. "I’m so goddamn proud." His lips curled into a small smirk. The air between us felt electric, charged with everything we’d hung between us but hadn’t yet said out loud. I was beaming. B
