My breath hitched as soon as I turned around and saw Ilona approaching us. She looked radiant in her sunflower yellow dress, her every step echoing with poise. Her dirty blond hair was tied up in a ponytail yet her curls bounced with every step she took. Kai leaped in my heart with joy and longing, excited to see her after what felt like ages.
“What a sight for sore eyes!” Kai howled, his tail wagging with delight.
Obviously, I was beyond relieved to see her too and that she chose to appear by my side. Her presence alone saved my grace. Yet, I couldn’t move on from the doubt and uncertainty that plagued my mind. I didn’t know if she was still in favor of Alpha Xander or if she had come to her senses.
