I run to the other side of the car as Hazel starts getting into the drivers seat. I hop in and close the door while putting my bag on the floor of the car. She starts up the car and backs out of the parking space slowly not wanting to hit anyone walking or driving behind us. It takes a while to get out of the parking lot but we finally make it out. Hazel turns down the road heading to the outside of town. "Have you been out here before?" She asks looking over at me. "I don't think so." I say shrugging my shoulders, I've always wanted to go to the outside of town but I've never had a reason to until now so I'm pretty excited. "I think you'll like it out here, it's pretty quiet and it's peaceful." "Sounds perfect." I say smiling and leaning back into my seat, I feel so comfortable around Hazel. My phone vibrates in my hand. I look down and see my mom has sent a text. I open my phone. Mom: What time are you gonna be home? I text back saying, I don't know, I'm going to get ice cream with my friend and I don't know what else will happen so I don't have a time. I turn off my phone and my mom texts back right then. Mom: Oh, I'm glad you're making friends. Okay come home when you're done with everything. Me: Okay.      "Who was that?" Hazel asks, she looks kind of worried. "It was my mom, she was asking what time I was coming home." I say which Hazel relaxes, a lot. I'm now confused, why did she seem so worried. "What did you say?" "I told her that I didn't know what time." "What time did she say you have to be home then?" "She actually didn't tell me any time, she said to come home when everything is done." "What does she mean everything?" "I don't know, I said I was going out with a friend to get ice cream and I didn't know what else was going to happen." "Oh, okay." We sit there in a silence that I couldn't tell if it was a comfortable silence or an awkward silence.      About twenty minutes later Hazels turns into a parking lot with only three cars including hers. "Well, we're here!" She says parking. We get out and I walk around to where Hazel is. There is trees around as well as a lake nearby. It smells like pine trees, and I'm loving it. I do a spin to see around us. "It's so beautiful here!" I say in a breathy voice. I hear Hazel say something, I turn to her and say. "What?" "Oh nothing, um do you wanna go order?" She says and I nod. We start walking towards the ice cream shop. Our hands hit each other about ten times before Hazel's hand holds mine. I wasn't expecting it and my heart leaps and my cheeks heat up hotter than it is outside around us. I look over at her which she seems to sense and she looks at me. She just smiles and shrugs, I smile even with the butterflies in my stomach.      "Hey girls, what can I get you?" Says the lady behind the counter with a smile. Her smile seems to widen as she looks down at our hands. "Are you guys together?" She asks teasingly friendly way." "N-no ma'am." I say stuttering. "Mhm.." She says giving us a look of yeah right which makes me blush. I look away from the lady to look at the menu and to get away from that look. "I'll take a chocolate chip sundae." Hazel says. "I'll take a mint sundae." I say looking at the lady then quickly at the floor. "Sorry ladies, we only have one extra large sundae cup left. Do you guys mind sharing?" I look over at Hazel. "I'm okay with it, how about you Leigh?" She says with a small smile. "That's fine with me." I say with a smile. The lady behind the counter gives that look again but with a smile this time. "Okay, that'll be $3.56." She says. "Okay." I say grabbing four dollars from my pocket and walking forward to pay. "No, I got it." Hazel says rushing to the counter. "It's okay Hazel, you drove I can pay for ice cream." "It was my idea to come get ice cream though." "I.." Is all I can say before the lady behind the counter says. "You even fight like a perfect couple would." I look away from Hazel to the ground blushing. "I..., we.., here." I say placing the money on the counter. "For here or to go?" The lady says. I look over at Hazel for her answer, I don't like making decision. "To go." She says, then walks closer to me and as the lady goes to the kitchen to make our sundae. "I have an idea, for where we can go. If you don't mind staying past eight." She says. "I'm down, I don't have a time to be home." I say and we smile at each other before the lady comes back with our chocolate chip mint sundae. The time right now is six thirty.     "Here you go, and enjoy you two!" The lady behind the counter says while handing Hazel the sundae because she's closest to the counter. "You, Leigh I think she said it was. Can I talk to you for a minute?" She says from behind the counter. "Um, sure? I'll meet you outside Hazel." I say as I saw Hazel walk then stop, walk then stop again unsure if she should stay or not. "You sure?" She asks. "Yeah..." I say unsure also. Once Hazel leaves, the lady starts talking by starting off by. "Are you guys actually not together?" "Yeah, but what's it to you?" I say blushing and very confused by why she wanted to talk to me. "Don't need to get mad, you guys would look cute together." "Wait, you're not homophobic?" "Oh, dear no. I'm a lesbian." "I'm lesbian too." "What about the other girl?" "Oh, that's for her to tell." "Well she kind of cute." "Oh." I say with sort of an attitude not liking the fact that someone else likes Hazel. "Jealousy looks kind of cute on you." "What, I'm not jealous!" "You in fact are. Anyway there was more than one cup left." She says before walking into the back. Leaving me speechless, she was setting Hazel and I into an intimate setting. I'm not complaining.
