Prove Me Wrong

The next morning, I was still feeling hot about what had happened between V and me. V was his normal nonchalant self. He looked unbothered by what had happened and what was happening between us.

"Ready to go back?" he asked.

"Yeah," I told him. "Thank you for helping me and calming me down."

"Anytime," he said. He accompanied me all the way back to Callisto. Cloud and Paul were waiting for us as soon as we landed.

"I'm glad to see you're taking this seriously, even though I would have preferred sir Edmund," Paul said. V looked at him and smiled while grabbing my waist as if to show him he had won this game. I slapped his hands off of me and went to my chambers. Venus and Samantha helped me get dressed and I headed back to the grand hall.

"So when will you announce your marriage," Paul asked.

"As soon as I find those creatures and make sure they don't come back," I declared.

"Alexandria," Paul sneered. "You need to not speak of foolishness, they were not real."

"Prove me wrong," I said to Paul. "I am your king and you will address me as such. I say we will look over the entire planet until we find them and kill them." Paul looked dumbfounded. V was grinning and even Cloud had a slight smile on his face.

"You sound and look like your father," Maze said as he entered the room.

"More like her mother," Cloud added.

"I was looking into the crawlers and I think they might have returned. They tend to leave a trace of energy behind when they die," Maze explained. "There were traces of it at the festival after you, well you know."

"So they were there," I said.

"They never had the ability to be invisible before," Cloud said.

"No, they didn't but whatever is allowing them to go unseen is worrisome," Maze said. Paul continued to look shocked and in a state of disbelief but now that I knew I wasn't crazy I had to do something.

"Send out as many men as you can and have them look for that energy source," I told Paul.

We suddenly heard a loud crash and ran outside to go look at what it was. Crawlers and dark spirit holders were attacking the palace. Cloud quickly took out his sword. V got into a defensive pose. I marched right in front of the men and ran towards the attackers. I was ready to fight. I used my air spirit to knock down the crawlers that were climbing on the side of the palace. One of the dark spirit holders tried to rush towards me but V used his flames to burn the man. Cloud used his sword to kill four men at the same time. We had nearly killed all of the attackers when suddenly we saw a dark figure throw a huge fireball at the palace. He threw another and then another. My home was now going up in flames. I heard Venus and Samantha come out screaming. Venus tried to use her water spirit to put out the flames but it was too intense. I felt my anger build inside me. I was about to release my phoenix spirit when the man finally came out of the shadows.

"Sec," Paul shouted. I looked over at Paul and he looked shocked to see this man standing before us. I didn't care to have any more words spoken. I released my phoenix spirit and flew to the man. I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him to the ground. He was laughing and found this amusing.

"Truly incredible," the man said. He soon disappeared and so did the remaining attackers. I looked at my home burning in front of me. I quickly took in the flames and felt them consume my body.

"Easy, sire," V said. It was hard to control but I knew I was strong enough. The palace was no longer on fire but it was too late, not much was left. I fell to my knees and began to cry. Every memory of my parents was now in ash or ruined beyond repair. I wanted to run inside and see what could be saved but I was too weak to get up. Cloud came by my side and helped me up. I stayed there leaning on him.

"You can stay with me," V offered.

"No, everyone will come to Caligo and stay with me," Cloud demanded. I didn't say a word but just got in my ship and headed to Clouds home.

"Who was that man?" I asked. Paul and Maze looked at each other in concern. "TELL ME!"

"He is, he was your father's uncle," Paul said. "Your grandfather's brother." I was left shocked not because he was family but because for centuries now, our families have never had more than one child so that there would be no rivalry on who inherited the phoenix spirit from their father.

"Where has he been all this time?" I asked.

"No one knows, honestly we thought he gave up his spirit and died," Maze explained.

"He is a fire spirit?" I questioned.

"Yes, and an air spirit but he never used it," Paul said.

"So what does he want?" I asked.

"If I had to guess he wants your phoenix spirit," Paul told me. "He wanted back then he sure still wants it now."

"Well, he burnt down my home and attacked us. I will hunt him down and kill him, family or not," I said.

"The sooner you give your phoenix spirit to your husband the better," Paul said.

"Son of a b***h," I thought. Paul was still on that. After everything I said and everything that happened he still doesn't understand. V took his own ship back to his home and as soon as we arrived at Caligo Cloud showed us to our chambers. I decided to take a walk but I knew Cloud had followed me.

"Everything is going to be alright," Cloud said.

"I know but I just feel less connected to my parents now," I told him. "I need to be home, my people are without their king."

"You are king to an entire galaxy," Cloud reminded me. "Not just Callisto."

"I know," I told him. "Thank you."

"And your parents are right here," he said as he pointed to my heart. I took his hand and held it in mine. We continued to walk hand in hand and it felt nice. We walked back and he walked me all the way back to my chambers. He went inside with me and asked me if everything was okay and if I needed anything. I told him everything was fine but then I thought there was something I needed.

"Stay with me," I pleaded. He looked shocked and worried.

"I can't," he said.

"Please," I said.

"I can't stay," He let go of my hand and I went to the closet to change my clothes. He was still in the room when I came out. He looked angry and I was just sad. I laid down and drifted off to sleep. I never noticed if he left or not.
