Chapter Ten The marks inflicted by Baz were barely discernible after a couple of days. The whip stung ferociously but it didn’t bruise me. As soon as those tell-tale marks did go, I forgot the guilt and started looking for action. Meeting Cotter’s wife appealed. I had a problem though, the only way I could contact Edward was at Lil’s. I made sure I turned up when he was there. Facing the old bag alone was a no, no. She knew how to raise my hackles and get under my skin. So I waited out of sight until he came home. Lil answered as expected. She put her large frame in the doorway and asked. “What do you want slut?” “To speak with Mr Cotter,” I told her. “He can do without the likes of you bothering him.” “That’s for him to say.” “He’s eating.” “Don’t worry I won’t pinch his dinner.”
