Mackenzie was on cloud nine after the night they had. When they got back in that previous night, Eli chose to stay at his own place so that she would have a chance to decompress. Things had been moving pretty quickly over the past few days. Her apartment was her sanctuary and had been since she got out of the dorms. Growing up in a group home didn't offer much in the way of peace or privacy. She had always had to share her space and could never really be alone in her thoughts. She appreciated everything that she now had especially since she was the one who had to work to get it. She woke up the next evening and decided to clean and get her apartment in order. Since she was now unemployed, staying busy was going to be tough. School was not difficult for her. In fact, her studies came extremely easy and always had. One of the many things she got bullied for in school was being a teacher's pet or being a nerd. Being a nerd, was now one of the things she embraced about herself. She was finally happy with the woman she was becoming.
It started to make her think what her grandparents would think of her. If they are vampire royalty, then how would she measure up. Were they her father's or her Mother's parents? Did she have any aunts or uncles? She was anxious to meet them. She decided that it was time and figured what better way to get started was to have a chat with Eli. He was easily becoming on of her favorite people. He was funny, considerate, and so confident that he was almost arrogant but he manage to be humble at the same time. He has sent her a text earlier to check on her so she responded and asked him to come by. Minutes later, she heard a knock on her door. Looking through the peephole she saw Eli and her heart skipped. Would she ever get used to how sexy he was? When she opened the door, Eli embraced her like that hadn't seen each other in years. The kiss was soft and demanding. As they broke apart she said, "Well, hello to you also." Eli only laughed as he made his way to her sofa. Mackenzie closed and locked her door and joined Eli on the sofa where she leaned into him. Of course he smelled wonderful but she needed to take care of business before she got distracted by him. "Eli, I am ready to meet my grandparents. When can we leave?" she asked. Eli looked at her and the look he gave her was odd. "Well, Mackenzie, the thing is, they are on their way here," he said sheepishly. "I called them when I woke up and they are a bit upset that I did not bring you on the first day. I tried to explain to them that you needed a bit of time and they became impatient," Eli complained. Mackenzie was not expecting that at all! She thought she would at least have a little while to get her thoughts together. Her grandparents were on the way right now.
She was not as prepared as she would have liked. She did not know what to wear, how to act, what to say, or anything. Mackenzie was having a full blown panic attack. Complete strangers were on the way to her home and she had no clue how to behave. She was pacing and waving her hands and talking to herself. Eli could only watch in amazement and then he got up and grabbed her. He looked into her eyes and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. Her brain fried and she forgot what she was even stressing about. "We will be together and they will adore you as I do already. Please, just be your beautiful self," he praised. Mackenzie immediately felt better. She went to her small kitchen grabbed a glass of water, chugged it down, and was finally able to really calm down. "Thank you so much. How did you even do that?," she asked. He responded, "As your destined, I have some power over your emotions. Certain ones anyway. If we were ever to get into a conflict, I am able to dull your fear or the same with nervousness. You will be able to do it for me as well, if it ever comes to that." She was intrigued by this and decided to put that bit of information in her back pocket for later.
The minutes ticked by and the time stretched on for what seemed like forever but it was only about 15 minutes later when Mackenzie looked out her window and saw what had to be an expensive car. She had never seen it before. It was a dark gunmetal grey with chrome detailing along the fender. Even the wheels were shiny. She waved Eli over to ask him what kind of car it was and according to him it was an Aston Martin Vantage. Eli said, "those would be your grandparents." It looked sleek and fast and she wished she could get on I-85 with it and just let go. The car had nothing on the people stepping out of it. Out of the driver side stepped an extremely distinguished gentlemen that had to be her grandfather. He had on a suit that was perfectly tailored and it was gray with a navy pocket square. She couldn't make out the tie but she was sure it matched. The shirt looked to be a kind of salmon color but it paired really well with the shoes, which were a soft caramel brown. Even being an older man, Mackenzie realized he knew he was the man about town and not one soul could tell him different. He had salt and pepper hair that was sort of longish, just hitting his neck. Mackenzie couldn't wait to see him up close. He walked to the passenger side of the car and opened it for what had to be the most beautiful woman that Mackenzie had ever laid eyes on. She wore her hair loose and it hung to her waist and it was the color of jet. Her dress was a simple wrap dress but fit her like a dream. It was a soft turquoise color with 3/4 length sleeves. Her shoes had to be at least four inches and Mackenzie could see the red bottoms from her window so she knew they were Louboutins and they were white with little ribbons sewn on the toe. She was beautiful and adorable all at the same time. Mackenzie immediately felt a connection with them.
She waited with the patience of a small child for them to make it up to her apartment. Mackenzie was fidgety. She would sit then she was up and pacing or getting another drink of water. Finally, her buzzer went off and she raced to the door. She smoothed out her clothes and made sure she didn't have anything in her teeth. She was nervous and excited and knew that this was going to be a momentous occasion.
