Brand New Start

Mackenzie woke up the next evening feeling super warm. She tried to roll over and realized that she had a whole man wrapped around her. Eli opened his eyes and Mackenzie was amazed at how soulful they were. "Good gloaming or whatever Gomez Addams used to say," Eli joked. Mackenzie let out a laugh. She disentangled herself and realized that she had woken up without the blood sweat. "Eli, could you explain why I would sweat blood while slept?" She asked. "That is part of your transition. Until you drink from your destined, your body gets rid of your human elements. When you reach the age of 21, your body starts to gear up for your first feeding," Eli explained. Mackenzie noticed that his eyes started to change like they had done the previous evening and once again she was getting lost in them. His hands began to roam and her body began to respond. I never intended for us to be together like this so soon. Your grandparents sent me here to keep an eye on you," Eli explained. Mackenzie still could not believe she had family. She stopped trying to figure where her family could be a long time ago. After a while, it just stands to reason that she knew she was alone in the world. All she had was GSU and her job. 

Holy s**t!!!! Mackenzie had completely forgotten to call or email or anything. She rushed out of the bed to cut on her laptop and when she opened Outlook she had bunches of emails. One specifically from her team leader that she knew demanded a response but when she opened the email it said, "We received your letter of resignation. We are so sad to see you go but please go to your family. We all hope it goes well and hope to hear from you soon." Mackenzie sat at her desk in astonishment and she hadn't even realized that Eli was standing near her until she felt his hand on her shoulder. "What's the meaning of this? I didn't resign. I love my job. What am I supposed to do now?" Mackenzie cried. She couldn't stop the tears. She could only think of the kids in the program who needed her. Her heart broke because she could relate to each child she had worked with. Eli turned her towards him and wiped the tears from her face when he said, "do not worry about the kids. We have found good human homes for them. As for living expenses, you are vampire royalty and therefore loaded." Mackenzie couldn't even believe what she was hearing. Family, security, and a new man all in the same 24 hours. Usually, if it's too good to be true then it's bound to come back and bite you in the ass. She would just have to see where things would go from here.
