Mackenzie was excited to know that she had family. Being alone for so long had become a way to survive but now she had people of her own. The discovery warmed her heart. Eli was a bonus because he didn't have to be with her but he had chose her. Now, all she had to do was figure out how to get her father back. In order to start getting answers, she needed to go to the source. The coven would be the best and only place she knew of to get any clues so that she could get started. She got out of bed and still couldn't get over the idea of being a vampire. When she got to her bathroom, Mackenzie looked in the mirror and could see subtle changes in herself. Her eyes were brighter and somehow they reflected the light that hit them. Her hair now always looked like she came fresh from the salon. Her complexion had improved leaps and bounds. This vampire thing had a lot of ups so she could only wonder what the downside could be.
She showered and threw on her most comfy robe. Mackenzie grabbed her cell phone to text Eli and ask him to come down to her place. There were some things that needed to be discussed and she still had questions about her new life. Eli was knocking on her door in no time at all. It was as though he transported because it seemed like she had just sent the text. Eli greeted her with a kiss. Not just any kiss but a kiss to let her know he had been thinking of her. Mackenzie had missed him as well, even though they had just seen each other the day before, it always felt like something was missing when they weren't together. They melted into each other and the kiss turned into something more. Eli began to slowly slide the robe from her shoulders. He planted soft kisses on her neck and across her collar bone. Her body responded to him and she loved the way he made her feel. As he continued to disrobe her and slowly touch her she became wet with desire. She felt her fangs drop but she wasn't hungry. It was as though drinking from him made a connection. Every since she drank from him, she was always able to sense him and somewhat know where he was in the building. It was like a GPS tracker. Mackenzie pierced his neck in one smooth bite as he entered her. The orgasm rampaged through her like nothing she had ever felt. Eli looked at her in awe and as though he could watch her forever. She watched his fangs descend and it was beautiful. In that moment, she only saw how handsome he was and she felt everything he had to give her. She had only but to completely let go and let him in. She rode him and as she drank from him, it was pure magic.
Laying breathless next to him, Mackenzie said, "I guess one day we will have a conversation before we bump uglies." Eli laughed and she joined him. He got her sense of humor and appreciated him all the more for it. "So, I want to go to the coven. When is the best time? Should I call first? What's the usual protocol for unexpected guest?" she questioned. As Eli caught his breath from laughing, he finally said, "we can go whenever is best for you. The coven is your home and your grandparents will swiftly reprimand anyone who denies you entry." Mackenzie forgot she was vampire royalty and figured she should just get used to the perks. She decided that they should leave at that moment before she lost her nerve. They got up and decided to meet downstairs in an hour. She showered and was about to get dressed when she realized that her clothes may not be up to par for vampire royalty. Mackenzie had a full on freak out. She was so nervous and tossing clothes out of her closet and around the apartment wasn't helping her anxiety at all. She stopped to take a breather and realized that when she met her grandparents that they didn't even notice or pay attention to any of that. Mackenzie realized she was being foolish so she settled on a deep eggplant colored peasant top with a pair of distressed jeans and some black booties to finish the look. She decided that she might as well be comfortable and cute.
By the time she was ready, she was rushing out the door to meet Eli, but when she got downstairs he was nowhere to be seen. The only thing outside was a sleek navy colored Bentley and she only knew what it was because a few of the local rappers that lived in the area had them. Mackenzie could definitely see the appeal. As she stood there, the driver side door opened and Eli stepped out and Mackenzie's jaw dropped. "I had no idea this was your car. I didn't even know you owned a car," Mackenzie spoke flabbergasted by the luxury vehicle. Eli walked around and politely opened the passenger door for her. Mackenzie sat in the softest camel colored leathered. It was so soft and smooth that she could have melted into it. The difference between this Bentley and the other ones she had seen in Atlanta was that this one was vintage. No fancy technology for this baby but when Eli started the car, there was a distinct growl coming from the hood. This old girl had power and Mackenzie loved it. They pulled off into the Atlanta streets and headed for I-285 and it was a relaxing drive because this late in the evening, there was no traffic. The drive was only about 20 minutes and it made Mackenzie so happy to know that she had relatives so close. They pulled onto the exit and drove through Marietta to a neighborhood that could only be described as posh. These were estates not regular mansions and it was just an amazing thing to ride by these homes and see all the glitz and glam.
They pulled up to a beautiful wrought iron gate and it had detailed filigree iron work. It was as though the metal ivy was alive as it twirled and intertwined on the bars of the gate. The keypad didn't have numbers, but instead Eli used a magnetic key card that he swiped across and pad and the gates slowly began to open. The drive went on forever and it curved to the back of the house but Eli parked in front. He got out to walk around the car and let Mackenzie out. She had never seen a home like this before. It was older than the homes around it and had an elegant look to it with the brick and woodwork. The other homes in the neighborhood were more modern. Mackenzie and Eli walked to the front door together and Eli walked in as though he owned the place. "You don't knock or anything? Security? who does that?," she said as she looked around frantically for an attack dog to appear from some dark corner. "I live here. Remember?" Eli chuckled.
As they entered they were greeted by a palatial foyer with marble flooring that had gold and black veins running throughout. The walls were painted a rich navy blue that made the space feel warm and inviting. Mackenzie was not extremely cultured but she knew enough to recognize that the art that hung from the walls were not your everyday TJMaxx finds. The continued through a hallway and just as they were about to enter into a large alcove her grandmother came flying around the corner with a huge smile on her face. Cecelia was dressed what she thought had to be casual in a teal cashmere sweater and some soft gray slacks and of course this was paired with some soft blue suede Louboutin's. Cecelia hugged her and planted air kisses on her cheeks. "I am so happy to see you. Eli called and told us you wanted to visit. We are so glad you are here. Please come to the family room. Everyone is not here but you get to meet a few of your cousins," Cecelia exclaimed. Her smile and energy was infectious and Mackenzie's nervousness dissipated. Cecelia dragged her down a hallway and around a corner and into what had to be a small movie theater. There was a screen and projector set up that had a movie playing that Mackenzie was sure hadn't hit theaters yet. Large, plush movie style seating, a small concession area, video games, and all the fixings of a movie theater without having to leave home. Sitting in the movie seats were a young woman and a young man, both had to be younger than Mackenzie. They greeted her with a smile and introduced themselves. "I am Artemis and this is Apollo. also lovingly known as the twins," the young woman explained. Apollo got up and walked towards Mackenzie and pulled her into a huge bear hug. He had such a huge smile on his face. "My brother is not able to speak which makes him extremely affectionate and obnoxious," Artemis said with a laugh. They all explained that all vampires have powers specific to each individual and Apollo's voice basically made him a sort of pied piper. His voice hypnotized people and made them want to follow wherever he led them. Artemis' power was that she could see for long distances and had somehow achieved 360 degree vision.
Mackenzie realized that this meeting was only scratching the surface of what she needed to learn about being a vampire. She was taking it all in stride and knew that there was more family to meet and that she would need to be prepared for the differences and unique abilities of everyone.
