Chapter 7

Rain arrived in a flurry of activity, as if she were moving in for good. She had finally made her grand entrance, and she wasted no time in dropping all of her bags onto the bedroom floor. Nev couldn't help but be taken aback by the sheer amount of luggage she had brought with her. "What in the world did you bring with you, girl?" he asked, incredulous. Rain began to unpack her bags, revealing a plethora of beauty supplies and clothing options. "I have a bag full of makeup, a red bag full of hair products, and this bag contains my dress and shoes," she explained. "I also brought a few extra pairs of shoes in case you guys want to switch things up. And of course, I have my clothes to change into and my bathing suit for tomorrow. This small bag has all of my essentials for staying the night." As Rain continued to unpack, the room was filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. It was clear that she was here to work her magic, and everyone was eager to see what she had in store. With her bags unpacked and her tools at the ready, Rain was ready to transform the space into something truly spectacular. Jokingly, Mel told Rain that I should give her a spot in my closet. The 3 of us broke out in laughter. I love these girls like they are my sisters. They have always been here for me. After we had a good laugh, we each took our dresses out and hung them up to check and see if any of them needed a quick steaming to get any wrinkles out. My dress is the perfect party dress for me. It's a stunning dark green bodycon dress! It has a really fun graphic pattern and a flattering mermaid hem. The dress is designed with a strapless neckline and is sleeveless. It is also backless and has a zipper that adds a touch of glamor to the dress. Mel said that the high waistline emphasizes my figure. The dress is made from sequins and at first I thought this dress was going to be very uncomfortable to wear, but I was very wrong. The stress is so comfortable. It is also a maxi length and Rain says that it's sure to turn heads at my party. I am going to wear a pair of strappy black heels, but I am going to keep my flats close by. I have always heard that your feet will kill you by dancing in your heels all night. I will also be putting my hair up in a sleek ponytail of curls. And for an extra pop of color, I am going to wear a very bold green lipstick. Mel's dress is really going to make a statement, in my opinion. Her dress is a stunning light blue, body-hugging sheath/column dress. It really is an exquisite, shimmering style, it screams Mel. It also has a strapless neckline, and a court train hemline. It is made from a combination of sequined, velvet, and satin fabrics, and has a sleeveless silhouette with a sequin embellishment. She is wearing a pair of white strappy shoes that have diamond-like gems all over them. Her hair is also going to be curled but be left down. And she is also going to wear a bold dark blue lipstick. Rain’s dress is a chic and stylish party dress. It is a champagne-colored bodycon dress! It also has a high waistline, a pencil hem shape, and is a mini dress so she can show off her long legs. It is backless and has cut-out details to make the dress a bit daring. It also has a halter neckline and sleeveless design so she doesn't get too hot while dancing. Her words, not mine. She has chosen to wear a nude shoe, to make sure her legs look the longest. As for any jewelry, she picked out a bracelet to wear. She didn't want to be too flashy with jewelry, afraid that it would take away from the dress. For her hair, Mel and I are going to work together to make it go faster. She wants a french braid, with some loose pieces of hair to be curled so that her halter top neckline on the dress is shown off. And like the rest of us, she is also wearing a very bold red lip color to make everything pop. We each take our turns in the shower. My mother bought a tank top and a pair of shorts for each of us to wear as we got ready. This is to make sure we don't get any makeup or any hair product on our dresses. Once we were all done showering, Rain took out her bluetooth speaker. Rain- Hey Mel, sync your phone to my speaker, and put some music on. Mel- Now we are talking!!! Mel syncs her phone and then she puts on “ About Damn Time.” And then Rain blasts the song because it is one of our favorites. We all start to sing along as we are doing our makeup. Then next comes the hair. This was easy for Mel and I because all we really needed to do was curl our hair, but Rain needed help because she needed a french braid. Unless you have practiced doing it yourself, it needs to be done by someone else. Rain- I can't believe… OW! Geese Mel, don't you think that the braid might be a little tight? It feels like you are pulling my brains out. “No, it needs to be tight. Do you plan on dancing tonight, right?” Mel questioned Rain. “Yes, why wouldn't I?” Rain said to Mel, giving her a look like she had lost her head. “Well, then it needs to be tight, so it doesn't come loose when you are dancing.” Mel answered with a little bit of a devilish smirk. I know that she is going to love getting it as tight as she can. Rain then went back to talking about our dresses, and how putting them on meant that it was almost time to meet my wolf. It was almost time to meet my wolf, and with that came the realization that I would finally find out if Heath was truly my mate. The weight of this knowledge bore down on me, threatening to crush my spirit. As tears threatened to spill from her eyes, Rain spoke up, trying to offer me comfort. But I couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom. What if Heath wasn't my mate? What would happen to their relationship? Everything was starting to become surreal. Mel's voice cut through my thoughts, reminding me of the advice she had given. Even if we weren't mates, it didn't mean Heath and I could not be close. But I knew the truth. Heath had already made it clear that he couldn't handle seeing me with another guy. The thought of losing him was almost too much to bear. Rain tried to reassure me, promising to be there for me no matter what. But the weight of uncertainty still hung heavy in the air. I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would I find her mate, or would I lose the one person who had been by my side through it all? Only time will tell now. As we embraced each other, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. I quickly checked my makeup, making sure it was still intact, and then we helped each other slip into our stunning dresses. Our laughter filled the room once again, and we chatted about anything and everything, distracting me from my own emotions. We snapped countless silly selfies and took pictures to capture this unforgettable moment. Little did we know, there would be even more pictures taken tonight by others. But I had a plan. "I need both of you to do me a favor," I said, turning to my friends. "Any pictures you take tonight, please send them to my phone. I want to print them off and create a scrapbook of this special night." Mel nodded in agreement, and Rain was already on it, sending me all the pictures we had just taken. I couldn't help but feel grateful for these two amazing friends who were there for me in every way possible. This was a night I would never forget, and thanks to them, I would have the memories to cherish forever. As the night approached, we shared a pre-party drink, non-alcoholic of course. The excitement was building, and we were all getting into the party spirit. There was going to be dancing, delicious food, desserts, and so much more. My mother even decided to surprise us with a photo booth. It was going to be a night to remember. After getting ready, we made our way down the stairs, only to be greeted by our entire family. It was embarrassing, but we knew it was all in good fun. As we took pictures, I couldn't help but notice that Heath was nowhere to be found. I wanted to ask if anyone had seen him, but I didn't want to make a fool out of myself. If he wanted to be left alone, I would give him the space he needed. Despite the absence of Heath, we continued to enjoy the night. We took funny pictures with each other and our cousins, but the best one was the one with my father. As the night was just starting, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
