Chapter 1

The memories of the war with Alpha Lucas still lingered in the minds of the older generation in the kingdom. The scars of the war were still visible in some parts of the kingdom, with some areas still bearing the marks of the destruction that had occurred. However, despite the devastation, the kingdom had risen from the ashes and had become stronger. The war had united the people, and they had worked hard to rebuild their homes and businesses. As a result, the kingdom had become more prosperous, and the people had become more resilient. The younger generation, like myself, may not have experienced the war firsthand, but the stories and lessons passed down from the older generation serve as a reminder of the importance of peace and the consequences of war.

My name is Nevada Garden Beckett. My parents are Queen Emry and King Quil. I am 17 years old and getting ready to graduate high school. And then the next day I will be turning 18 years old. I stand at 5’5'' and weigh about 138 lbs. I have very long red hair. I have never cut it. Ever! And I love how long it is. So many pack members compliment my hair daily. I was born with 2 different colored eyes. My left is a vibrant purple color. It is actually my favorite eye. Yeah, I know that sounds super corny. I have a favorite eye. But truthfully, I have never seen another like me with 2 different colored eyes. The other eye is a very deep teal color. I was also blessed with freckles. Not that I don't like them, but when I am out in the sun too long, they tend to get darker. And that is what I don't like. I am so excited about this weekend, because I will get to meet my wolf for the first time. I can't wait to see what she will look like and what her personality is going to be like. I do have a boyfriend currently. His name is Heath Tryn.

We have been dating for 5 years. The only thing that has me worried is on my birthday I will also know whether or not he is my mate. I am hoping that he is. I love him with all my heart. But I am nervous that the end result will be that he is not my mate. I want to introduce you to my parents. They are the backbone of this kingdom. And they are the reason it is still standing today. My mother is an incredibly strong and stunningly beautiful individual who holds the title of Queen Lycan.

The Moon Goddess blessed her not just her wolf Moon but also her lycan Starlow. Additionally, my mother is quite vocal and transparent about her thoughts and feelings.

According to my mother, my father possesses some good looks. He also has a very tough demeanor. He is not one to tolerate insults or concern himself with others except for his family, and if anyone in the kingdom needs anything. He keeps his emotions to himself as much as possible. He prefers to speak his mind bluntly. People either appreciate his straightforwardness or do not. Additionally, he remains fiercely loyal to both his family and his kingdom, ready to defend us without hesitation.

My parents and I have been the tight-knit trio of our pack for as long as I can remember.

However, everything changed about two and a half months ago when my parents announced that they were expecting their second child, and the newest member of the pack. A baby girl who will be my little sister. Although my parents haven't decided on a name yet, I've offered them plenty of great ideas. My mother believes that the baby should be named based on her personality, so they're waiting to see her before they finalize anything. My name is a bit unconventional, I admit. My parents named me after a location, specifically Ethel M Chocolates' Botanical Cactus Garden, which is Nevada's largest collection of its kind. When my mother was pregnant with me, my parents visited this beautiful spot on a babymoon, and my mother felt that I was the most active during that trip. It was then that she knew what my name would be.

As a kid, I used to get teased by my cousins about my name. But now, everyone just calls me Nev or G, and I'm grateful that no one makes fun of me anymore. Back then, I knew they weren't trying to be mean, but it still bothered me that they had something to tease me about.

But now, something amazing is about to happen! In just 2-3 weeks, my little sister is going to be born! I can hardly contain my excitement! As the only child in our pack without siblings (except for my cousin Donna), I've been waiting for this moment for what feels like forever.

I can't wait to meet my little sister and show her all the wonders of our world. I've been imagining what she'll look like and what her personality will be like. I hope she's just as adventurous as I am!

I'm counting down the days until her arrival, and I'm thrilled to become a big sister. This is going to be a whole new adventure, and I'm ready for it!

Wow, with all the incredible events happening in my life right now, it's no wonder I'm feeling absolutely ecstatic and a little overwhelmed! I mean, can you believe it? I'm about to meet the newest member of my family! It's truly a blessing and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Every time someone from the kingdom sees me, they shower me with congratulations for my upcoming graduation and 18th birthday. And let me tell you, turning 18 is a massive milestone for someone like me. I'm finally going to get to shift for the first time and meet my wolf! I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get a Lycan like my mother - how cool would that be?

But that's not even the best part. As the only child in our pack without siblings (besides my cousin Donna, who is Aunt Malia's daughter), I'm finally going to have a sibling of my own! It's a completely new and exciting experience for me, and I can't help but imagine what my little sister will look like and what her personality will be like. I'm hoping she'll be just as adventurous as I am!

I'm counting down the days until my little sister arrives, and I can't wait to be a big sister and show her all the wonders of our world. This is truly a magical time in my life, and I'm so grateful for all the amazing things happening around me.

It is a unique experience for me to finally meet my mate. My parents have been telling me about mates my entire life. They believe that having a fated mate is crucial not only for my strength as the next Queen but also for personal growth. One's mate fulfills them, completing them as a person. I have been preparing to follow in my mother's footsteps since childhood, and though I am still learning how to govern the kingdom, I am already betrothed to the crown. Every morning, I train with my father and find him to be an excellent sparring partner. However, I prefer to spar with my mother because she speaks to me during our matches, which helps me anticipate my opponent's moves better. This skill is not easy to master, but it gives me a better chance of winning in combat.

My progress during sparring sessions is aided by my mother's verbal guidance, despite my father's belief that talking is a form of cheating. He is convinced that speaking aloud exposes his next move, a disadvantage in a real fight where such information is not given. I see merit in both perspectives. In a month's time, my mother will return to the training field, and I am taking my training step by step, savoring each moment as it comes. I am excited about my bright future and the realization of my goals, but I have one pressing concern: my upcoming coming-of-age celebration in a few days.

My mother will place the crown on my head. This event is significant as it symbolizes my future reign when my mother steps down. Although I am grateful for the life bestowed upon me by the Moon Goddess, I fear that not only my parents but the entire kingdom may turn against me during the ceremony because of my secret. I harbor a secret that no one else knows - I am unsure if I desire the crown. My current life is fulfilling, with my studies, boyfriend, friends, and exciting adventures yet to come. Being crowned Queen would mean the end of all that. While I could still socialize with my friends, everything would be different. I cherish traveling, and presently, I can go on a road trip whenever I please. However, once I become Queen, this freedom would come to an end.

My affection towards my family and life is immense, however, I do not believe that I am the most suitable candidate. I am currently contemplating a few individuals whom I may offer the crown to during the party. I need to take some more time to reflect. Since I am becoming an adult, I must prioritize my best interests. I anticipate that the transition and meeting my wolf will go smoothly. Turning 18 will be a significant transformation for me, I just need to sit and think about it all.

Let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Heath Tryn. He's a big guy, as my dad likes to say, standing at 75 inches tall and weighing 215 pounds. He's got a unique hairstyle, with the bottom half of his head shaved and the upper half long. I absolutely adore his hair, and he styles it differently depending on his mood. It's so fun to play with! Its not long enough for a ponytail which I keep asking him to grow it out so he could put it into one. However he likes it this length and so do I.

Heath isn't a member of our kingdom, but he belongs to another pack called The Arctic Raven Pack. Our parents have been friends for about 8 years, and my mom always stresses the importance of keeping close connections with those who support and care for us.

Heath used to get picked on for wearing glasses, which others deemed as nerdy. But that all changed the summer before 9th grade when we started dating. It's been 5 years now, and my mom calls it young love while my dad stresses about mates. I understand the importance of mates, but to avoid my dad's lengthy lectures, I've learned to just agree, smile, and nod.

My cousin Donna is one of my closest buds. She's seven years older than me, but that doesn't stop us from being tight. Unfortunately, she hasn't found her soulmate yet, but she does have a boyfriend, just like me. They've been together since high school and are the epitome of high school sweethearts.

Even though they know they're not meant to be, you can tell they're head over heels for each other. She is such an incredible person who would do anything for anyone. Seriously, she would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it. Donna's always volunteering in the community, making sure everyone she meets has everything they need.

My parents and grandparents actually saved her life when she was a kid, so she spent a lot of time with them. When I came along, it was only natural for her to be around.

One thing that bugs me about her life is her boyfriend, Matrius Clive. He's not from our kingdom or realm and has a sketchy story about his pack being attacked, leaving only him and his friend Alana alive. Supposedly, they were given some potion by a witch in their pack to transport them here. I'm not buying it, but Donna is head over heels for him. I've been keeping a close eye on him since he arrived and will continue to do so until I'm convinced he's not up to anything shady.

Oh and the most exciting thing that I get to do today is when I get home from school. Mom went and picked up my dress for my party!!! I can not wait to put it on one more time before the party. Everyone is going to love the dress. When I got to school that morning, I had to meet with Selina and Kyle (they are my youngest cousins). They are taking a trip from 8th grade to check out the high school. And because we're related, I was asked to do this for them. So that they feel a little more comfortable touring the school.
