"Jacob, they're here…" Chloe's shaky voice echoed from the bedroom entrance. He had been waiting for any news about their marriage—anything at all that would pull Sheila back into his web. "Who’s here?" he asked, standing up from his small cabin. To his mother and sister, he appeared to be idling around, avoiding the responsibility he had so proudly claimed he would take. But what they didn’t realize was that he was simply plotting something. He wanted to strike when it was most beneficial. Sheila couldn't just serve him divorce papers and expect him to do nothing. "I don’t know," Chloe said, her voice unsteady. "Some mean-looking men. They're ordering us out of the estate. I think your wife finally sold the house." She wasn’t bluffing when she said she’d put the house up for sale. D
