Arthur came home late that evening, and even though he was home now, the weight of the shareholders meeting he'd just attended kept hanging on his shoulders as if a boulder had been placed there. His tie was loose around his neck and his jacket was thrown over one arm as he walked into the mansion, wearing a tired, sharp look. He barely acknowledged the maids who stepped out of his way and greeted as he passed because he felt numb. He climbed the staircase slowly, his mind running through the endless discussion, numbers and arguments that he'd faced all day.
