Chapter Thirteen

1133 Words

Sheila stared, enjoying the blissful comfort of her bed, so warm and cozy against her bare skin… Bare skin? She had never slept naked. Not ever since Jacob's unfaithfulness, which had started in the second year of their marriage. She had stopped sleeping with him from that moment, fearing he might infect her with some deadly s****l disease. She had warned him repeatedly and stayed guarded, making sure she wore clothes to bed—something that had suddenly become a habit. So why was she not wearing clothes? Not only did she feel naked, but she also felt trapped, and a sweet, manly scent invaded her nostrils, a mix of sandalwood, spice, and something undeniably posh. Was Jacob in bed with her? Naked? As the thought sank in, she opened her eyes and jumped up like she had been stung by a bee.
