CHAPTER 22 – EMBARASING STORIES

WYATTS POV

The rain was really coming down hard, after bringing Kat back home the storm hit in full force, I didn’t mind it though, it meant I could keep her all to myself for the rest of the day and night, I’d lit a fire in my loungeroom and put down a blanket and cushions for us to cuddle on, there really was nothing better than having her in my arms.

I was leaning against one of my couches and Kat was snuggled between my legs, resting her head on my chest, causally tracing patterns with her fingers on my arm that was wrapped around her, the electric tingles it left over my skin was incredible, I couldn’t wait for her to feel it when she turned 18 and was under the full effect of the mate bond, I’d casually started pulling the clips out of her hair and unwound her braid so I could run my fingers through her hair, if she minded, she didn’t say anything.

We’d been silent since we finished eating dinner that Kat cooked, she’d made roasted herbed vegetables for herself and lemon chicken and vegetables for me, she really was an amazing cook, I once again tried to persuade her to eat the chicken too but she just glared at me, every time we ate together since I found out she was a vegetarian, I’d been trying to get her to change her mind about this whole ridiculous vegetarian bullshit but she was stubborn, I wasn’t letting it go though, she could get seriously sick not eating meat now that she’d shifted

I’d never had such a comfortable silence with anyone, least of all a girl, I was so completely at ease and content, I was glad she was feeling better, when Liam linked me and said that Kat had run off into the woods having some kind of a panic attack, Kai and I nearly lost it, hearing her crying, knowing the pain she was in over not giving me children, over never being a mother herself, was the worst kind of torture, I didn’t know how to help her but I would, I didn’t lie to her, I had contacts that I could reach out to, witches that owed me favours, I’d make sure she got everything she deserved, everything she wanted.

I don’t know how Id missed it all of these years, how did I miss how much pain she was in, I’d watched her, her whole life and she never gave away her sorrow.

Only once did she ever show signs of the depression I saw in her eyes today, it was last year, I’d found her in the woods, she’d been crying and refused to tell me what was wrong, I thought she’d had a fight with her father who came and took her home before I could question her further about what had upset her so I let it go but after reading her medical history I now knew why she’d been crying, the date I found her coincided with a note she’d scribbled in the folder.

‘NO MORE!’ She’d written ‘I AM DONE!’

It was written next to the final entry her father or Shay had written about a failed attempt to cure her.

It broke my heart reading all of the failed attempts, she’d been through so much and I was clueless.

In front of others, she was always smiling, always saying the right things, it made me wonder what else she was hiding, what else she was keeping bottled up because she felt like she had no one to count on.

I was a terrible mate, I’d left her to suffer through it all alone, all of these years and what was I doing, I was going out and f*cking around, telling myself it was ok because she was just a child, telling myself that I should be allowed to blow off steam because I worked so hard for the packs and needed the release

Kat shifted and looked up at me, her gorgeous blue eyes sparkling in the light of the fire, I’d noticed another new thing about Kat tonight, she didn’t seem to like fire, when I lit it, she stepped as far back as she could and sat down against the couch I was now leaning on, it was only after I’d pulled her between my legs that she seemed to relax, I didn’t ask her about it, she’d had enough stress today.

‘It’s getting late’ She said, I looked down at my watch, it was only 9pm ‘I should get home’

‘NO!’ Kai growled angrily

‘I don’t want you out in this weather’ I gestured to the window, the wind was howling and there lightning and thunder were going wild ‘I’ll drive you home in the morning, you can stay here tonight’

Kat blushed and sat up ‘But I’ She bit her lip in the nervous way she did, it was such a turn on

I leant forward and kissed her, sucking on her bottom lip and nibbling on it myself, when I pulled back, her cheeks were flushed, and the smell of her arousal was in the air

‘I’m the only one who’s allow to chew on that lip’ I warned her ‘Now, come on, you can have a shower and I’ll get you something to sleep in’

‘But what about my dad’ She asked

‘What about him, he has his own clothing’ I teased ‘I don’t think he wants to wear mine’

‘Wyatt’ She laughed and rolled her eyes

‘Katomi, I don’t need your father’s permission for anything’ I pointed out ‘And neither do you’

‘Just because I’m your mate it doesn’t mean I’m not still his daughter’ She pointed out as she looked up at me ‘He does have some say if his 17-year-old daughter spends the night with her boyfriend’

‘Boyfriend?’ I smirked ‘Is that what I am’

‘Aren’t you?’ She asked in confusion, frowning slightly

‘I don’t like that word’ I told her and pulled her closer, her lips inches from mine ‘I want more, you’re my mate, not my girlfriend and no, you’re father doesn’t have a say, not anymore and one day soon, he’s going to finally accept that fact but is this really about your father or are you just nervous about spending the night alone with me?’

I was going to offer for her to sleep in a separate room if she had an issue with it but that was going to be a last resort, I wanted her in my own bed.

She looked down and I ran my fingers through her hair ‘I promise’ I told her ‘I will be on my best behaviour, I won’t push you to do anything you’re not ready for, not ever, I don’t want you to go, please baby…. stay with me’

I looked deep into her eyes, and she nodded ‘Ok’ She said quietly, blushing lightly

I stood up and reached for her hand, once her small hand was placed gently into mine, I pulled her up and lead her towards my bedroom, she still hadn’t been in there yet.

Kai and I were both thrilled that she was staying the night, I’d been having a lot of sleepless nights since I’d spent the night with her in the hospital, I couldn’t sleep without her scent anymore, I couldn’t wait for her to move in, perhaps if she spend more nights here, she’d finally feel comfortable enough to move in sooner.

‘Just order her to move in’ Kai growled but I ignored him, he demanded this at least once a day

I pushed open my bedroom door, leaving it opened as I pulled her inside, I left her to look around while I headed towards my walk in, it was a bedroom within itself, but half was empty, I’d always kept one side free for Kat.

‘We could tell her we have nothing for her to wear’ Kai suggested ‘Perhaps she’ll sleep naked’

I laughed ‘Yeah nice try’ I rolled my eyes

After getting her one of my shirts and boxes, which were probably too big for her, I wondered back out, she was standing at the foot of the huge four post bed, running her fingers over one of the rabbit engravings

She turned to me with a large smile ‘I remember’ She told me softly ‘I didn’t before but I remember now, you were looking around at all of the beds and I saw you from outside so I came in, I just wanted to talk to you, to be near you, all of my friends were so scared of you but I wasn’t’ She smiled at the memory ‘I think I liked you, even then’ She laughed and looked back at the bed ‘I remember you asked me what bed I’d choose and I took you by the hand and I pulled you over to this one and you asked me if I’d like to have a bed like this when I was bigger’ She turned back to me ‘I said yes and you said’

‘I’ll keep it safe for you’ I finished her train of thought ‘And one day, I’ll let you have it’

She laughed quietly ‘I remember telling Bronwyn that you said I could have your bed when I got bigger and she so jealous’

I laughed and walked over to her ‘Well would you settle for sharing it instead of me giving it to you’

‘I don’t know’ She pondered, smirking at me ‘I do hog the bed and you tend to take up a lot of room, I might have to take it all for myself and you can just sleep on the couch’

‘Is that so’ I growled playfully, I picked her up and threw up gently on the bed before I pounced onto of her, I quickly pinned her down by her wrists and leant in as she squealed in laughter ‘Take it back or I’ll be making you sleep on the couch’

‘You wouldn’t dare’ She giggled and wrapped her legs around my waist, she was too inexperienced to understand what this did to me ‘Kai wouldn’t let you’

I growled in warning ‘I’ve told you not to play us against each other Kat’ I leant in and kissed her throat ‘Or I might have to punish you and trust me, we’re in complete agreement for how we’d do it’

She gulped and I sucked down on her neck again, leaving hickies behind, they’d be healed in a few hours, but I still loved seeing them on her

‘Mine’ I purred into her ear before I pulled her mouth back to mine, when she was completely out of breath I leant back, I could feel my c**k throbbing against my pants and judging by the way Kat shifted under me and blushed red, she could feel it too

‘Do you want to shower first?’ I asked and went to get up, but she grabbed a hold of my shirt to stop me

‘Wait’ She said, her voice sounded rough, she cleared her throat ‘I.. I want’

‘You want what?’ I asked, coaching her when she paused and looked away from my eyes

‘I want you to kiss me again’ She said, her voice low and timid ‘I don’t want you to stop yet’

She didn’t have to ask me twice, I leant back in quickly and pressed my lips against her soft wet ones, savouring her taste, I couldn’t be sure if it was purely a mate thing or if there was something different about Kat because she was a silver Lycan but she tasted better than anything I’d ever experience before, she didn’t taste like a Lycan, the Lycan women I’d been with in the past always tasted slightly bitter, even the human women didn’t taste this incredible, Kat tasted sweet, fresh, I would never tire of this taste, never crave anything else, it had to be the mate bond

I pushed my tongue inside of her mouth and Kat opened up more, allowing the intrusion, her own tongue slowly touching mine back, she was hesitant and unsure in her movements, but I increased my speed, encouraging her, tempting her, dominating her.

I hated myself for wanting to dominate my mate but it was an Alpha’s nature, I wanted to take control, I wanted to do whatever I wished regardless of her refusal, I wanted to order her to let me take her but the other half of an Alpha was to protect his mate at all costs, to kill if it meant keeping her safe, keeping her happy and so I pushed back my urge to rip her clothes off and take her without her permission, my two side were always at war whenever she was with me, always fighting, one side always trying to gain the upper hand.

The only way this war would ever come to an end would be if Kat allowed me to f*ck her of her own free will.

I groaned in pleasure as one of Kat’s hands ran through my hair, gripping it tightly and pulling my face closer to hers, her legs around my hips tightened and she began to purr while her other hand slipped up the inside of my s**t at the back, her gentle nails scratching up and down my skin was leaving electric tingles in their wake

‘F*ck’ I groaned to Kai as her scent became more potent ‘I need to get away from her’

My control was slipping again, I was on the edge

‘NO!’ Kai roared ‘Mate asked for this, she doesn’t want to stop, give me control, I’ll make her happy’

‘You’re worst then I am’ I pointed out ‘You won’t be able to stop’

I felt Kat pull back from my mouth and looked up at me, worry in her eyes ‘Did I do something wrong?’ She asked and I realised I’d stopped kissing her while I debated with Kai

‘No baby’ I shook my head ‘You’re perfect, too f*cking perfect, that’s the problem, I don’t want to stop but if I don’t now then I won’t be able to soon’

‘Oh’ She blushed and bit her lip smiling ‘I’m sorry’

‘Don’t be’ I said and sat up, ruffling my hair, I looked down at her, her hair was messed and sprawled around her beautiful face, her lips were swollen, and her clothes were ruffled ‘Why do you have to be so f*cking sexy’

Kat giggled nervously and blushed as she shifted her position and sat up, closing her legs and bending them under her

‘Here’ I reached behind me where I’d dropped the clothes and passed them to her ‘The box’s are probably to big but you use a hair tie to tighten them’

‘Thank you’ She said and took the clothes

‘The bathroom is through the walk in’ I pointed to the door to the left I’d gone in earlier

‘Do you have a spare toothbrush?’

Crap, ‘No’ I shook my head ‘Just use mine’

‘Are you sure?’

‘It’s fine’

Katomi nodded and climbed off the other side of the bed, I watched her ass with longing and once she was gone, I groaned into my pillow and punched the bed in frustration

‘I told you not to stop’ Kai growled ‘It’s your own fault’

‘Shut up’ I groaned

I took my shower after Kat, which was a terrible idea, I should have showered first or in another room, the heat left over from her shower was mixed with her scent and it somehow made her smell even more delectable, was this normal, why did the heat affect her scent more, why did it make it better.

I groaned when I realised her first heat would arrive soon, Lycan women would go through their first heat about a month after shifting for the first time and then every 3 months after that and if hot water made her smell this good, this irresistible, her natural heat was going to kill me, I’d have to take precautions, I’d have to speak to Beau.

I pulled on sweats after my shower and headed back out to Kat who was sitting up under the covers and looking upset.

‘What’s wrong?’

‘My dad’s not happy that I’m spending the night’

Oh, she must have linked him, I pulled back the covers on the right side of the bed, I usually slept on this side, Kat must have noticed my phone sitting on this side of the bed on the bed side table and assumed it was my side.

‘Who cares’ I said as I got comfortable, sitting next to her with my back against the headboard

‘I care’ She rolled her eyes ‘He wanted me to come home so I kind of lied and said I was sleeping in the spare room’

‘I’ll talk to him’

‘No’ She waved her hands ‘Please stay out of it, I’ll talk to him myself, it’s a dad, daughter thing’

I didn’t want to make things harder for her ‘Fine, I’ll leave it to you but if he keeps making things difficult, I’ll be stepping in’ I warned ‘He needs to realise that I’m your mate, not to mention his Alpha, if I want you with me, he has no say’

‘Thank you’ She smiled and kissed my cheek, I noticed her blush as she looked down at my uncovered chest

‘You know’ I murmured and ran my fingers down her arm and leaving goosebumps behind ‘It’s still pretty early, we could think of something fun to do before bed’

‘Really’ She rose her eyebrow at me but then she smirked, what was she up to ‘Lie down then’

I looked at her in disbelief, but I laid down comfortably

‘Ok’ She said and leant in, my heart started racing in anticipation ‘Now’ She kissed my lips softly for a second ‘Close your eyes’ She kissed me again

‘Now what?’ I asked, closing my eyes, enjoying her game

‘Go to sleep’ She pulled back and giggled

‘What’ I complained, I went to get up but she pushed me back down, I could have fought her easily but I liked her touching my chest

‘I meant what I said earlier’ She told me firmly ‘I want to take care of you too and I’m starting by making sure you get more sleep, you work too hard, even your mom thinks so’

I laughed ‘And what else did you and my mother talk about?’

‘Oh, nothing much’ She smiled and laid down on her side, I moved onto my side as well and placed my arm over her waist ‘Just this and that’

‘What this and that? I frowned as Kat giggled again

‘I wouldn’t feel bad’ She smirked at me ‘Not everyone can ride a horse’

I froze for a second, I can’t believe my mother told her that story, I was around 23 and we went away to another pack to pull there Alpha into line, he was refusing to send troops to fuel my father’s insane war and there were a lot of horses there so I thought I’d try riding for the first time, but horses are naturally skittish around Lycan and werewolves.

I tried to get on and the horse freaked out, I got kicked and fell back into a large pile of sh*t, my younger brother never let me live it down, Kat laughed at my embarrassment, she tried to cover her mouth, but it didn’t lessen her tears of laughter.

‘You do realise I’m now banishing my mother from the pack right’ I felt myself blushing slightly, but it only made her laugh more ‘And on that note’ I grumbled and turned off the lamp beside my bed, causing the room to darken ‘It’s time for bed’

Kat laughed again ‘Don’t worry’ She said, gasping for air ‘I can teach you to ride, or at the very least, actually get on the horse’

‘That’s it’ I shoved her over and started to tickle her, she squealed and laughed as she hit me and tried to push me away

‘Stop’ She pleaded, completely out of breath

Finally, I had mercy on her ‘We will never discuss this again’ I said firmly

‘Never again’ She smiled ‘I swear’

‘Good’ I kissed her on the nose and laid back down on my side and looked at her in the darkness, thanks to my Lycan eye-sight I could see perfectly, everything just had a dark purplish black tinge which somehow made Kat look even more beautiful

‘Am I at least allowed to talk about the time you thought you were a dragon and fell off the packhouse roof thinking you could fly’

I growled and she began laughing harder ‘I’m going to kill my mother’ I rolled my eyes ‘I was 9’ I defended myself ‘And I broke nearly all of my bones, it wasn’t funny’

Kat pressed her lips together and tried to stop laughing ‘You just wait’ I warned ‘I’ll be speaking to your father and Shay to get your embarrassing stories’

‘Nice try but they’d never tell you anything’

She thought she had me beat ‘Then I’ll just speak to the twins or Bronwyn’

Kat’s eyes widened and she sobered up instantly ‘I’ll stop’ She said sincerely

‘Yes, I thought so’ I growled playfully, I pulled her in and kissed her forehead before tucking her safely under my chin ‘Goodnight baby, I love you’

‘Goodnight’ She murmured happily and snuggled up.
