KATOMI - RISE OF THE FAE QUEEN

CHAPTER 14 – SCHOOL YARD BULLY

KATOMI’S POV

My legs were shaking as I walked towards the front of the building where a group of students were still lagging behind, I wasn't looking forward to everyone's questions or hearing people whispering about me all day

‘Kat’ Bronwyn jumped down from the picnic table outside the building ‘What’s this, my studious honour student best friend running in just before the final bell, I guess a certain Alpha is being a bad influence’

'Stop it'

I rolled my eyes and waited for Bronwyn as she pulled on some guy’s hoody, she must have left her jacket at home, she was only wearing ripped jeans and a tight singlet top, I’d have to learn how she got men to eat out of her hands, it would come in handy with Wyatt

‘Mate would do anything for us’ Remi giggled ‘You don’t need to trick him, we should link him, I want to spend the day with them’

‘Books before boys’ I teased her but she growled grumpily and started thinking about the kiss Wyatt and I just had

‘Mate’s not a boy’ She pointed out ‘He’s a man’

‘A man we’re meant to be staying away from’ I reminded her, when ever I was out of his presence I could think clearly again and I new I had to push him away but when ever I was with him all I could think about was having his hands on.

‘So, the rumours true’ A familiar irritating voice sounded behind me, I sighed and turned around

Elizabeth Reynolds, one of our Beta’s kids, she was on the cheerleading team with Bronwyn so I had to put up with her more often than I cared for, she was also the school sl*t, she would sleep with anyone, I felt sorry for her future mate.

She was wearing a thin dress that hardly covered her big breasts and black slip-on shoes, she was actually very pretty truth be told but she ruined it by plastering a gallon of make up on her face every day and her hideous personality

'I'd heard the rumour at the shifting ceremony, but I thought it was a lie' She spat and glared at me

'You mean you hoped' Bronwyn snapped but Elizabeth glared at her before turning back to me

‘How did you trick the Alpha into thinking you’re his mate’

‘Don’t you have some STI to go catch’ I growled at her while a few of the other students laughed quietly at my comment

‘Funny’ Liz glared at me ‘So how’d you do it? Pay off a witch of something?’

‘You’re a complete i***t’ I rolled my eyes ‘There is no spell or potion that can make someone think they’re your mate’

‘Well, you did it somehow’ She snapped, her eyes darkening as her Lycan surface ‘You can’t detect your mate until you’re both 18’

‘Unless one of them is an Alpha’ Bronwyn told her ‘Just go away Liz, or I’ll put you on the bottom of every pyramid from now until the end of the year’

‘Scary’ Liz said sarcastically as Liz's friends laughed ‘I also heard someone tried to blow you up, pity it didn’t take’

‘Just ignore her’ I said as Bronwyn went to say something else ‘She’s not worth it, I don’t care what she thinks’

Wyatt was right, I spent too much time caring what other people thought about me, I’d done it to survive, a habit I’d adapted to keep myself and my family hidden but right now, I didn’t care less

I went to walk away but Liz grabbed my wrist and twisted my arm ‘We’re not done b***h’

‘Let me go!’ I growled and tried to pull myself free

'LET ME HAVE CONTROL SO I CAN KILL HER!' Remi said furiously

A large Lycan came out from the tree lines and began growling at Elizabeth and I remembered that Wyatt had guards following me now

'You really should let me go Liz' I warned her 'Unless you want the guard to rip you apart'

'Screw the guard!' She said dismissivily 'If they touch me my father will kill them'

‘Are you a complete moron’ Bronwyn stepped forward and pushed Liz but she held on ‘Do you realize what the King would do to you if he saw you right now’

‘Please’ She rolled her eyes ‘It’s all bullshit, there’s no way little miss f*cking perfect is our Luna’

‘Liz let me go!’ I yelled, I could feel Remi clawing to take control, she wanted to rip Liz apart

The guard stepped a few steps closer and growled in warning again but then he stood down and turned to the left, I followed his eye line and saw Wyatt walkign down the path

‘LET HER GO NOW!’ Wyatt’s voice made everyone jump and Liz quickly let go of my wrist and stepped back trembling and showing her neck, part of me loved seeing her cower but I hated myself for feeling that way

‘Wyatt’ I turned around to see him marching up the school’s pathway, my jacket in his hand, his other hand was clenched into a fist and his eyes were dark ‘What are you doing back here?’

‘You left your jacket’ He said before looking at Liz ‘What is going on?’

‘Nothing’ I said quickly, I touched his arm, trying to calm him

‘It didn’t look like nothing’ He pulled his arm free of my hand, he knew what I was trying to do ‘What’s your name?’

‘E…Elizabeth’ She shook and kept her eyes on the dirt

‘Why were you grabbing my mate?’

‘Wyatt really, it’s fine’ I said pleadingly but he glared at me, and I stepped back nervously

‘ANSWER ME!’ Wyatt shouted in his Alpha tone and Liz jumped and showed her throat

‘I was’ She stuttered ‘I was just asking her if it was true, if she was really your mate’

‘And you felt you needed to hurt her in order to ask that question?’

‘She wasn’t hurting me’ I touched his arm again, but he grabbed my arm and examined my wrist, it was red from where Liz had squeezed me, Wyatt growled and turned back to Elizabeth

‘You seem to be under some misconception’ Wyatt said calmly, deadly ‘You seem to think that you can touch my mate, hurt my mate and not suffer the consequences just because you’re underage!’

‘Wyatt please’

‘Let me make this perfectly clear to everyone of you’ He looked around at all the students standing around, watching the scene with wide terrified eyes ‘Katomi, is my mate, she is no longer just another pack member, just another school student, she is your Luna, your future Queen and you will treat her with the respect that title deserves, if I hear of anyone trying to hurt her in anyway, I will not hesitate to rip your throats out, is that clear!’

‘Yes Alpha’ Everyone echoed

‘Do well to remember my warning Elizabeth’ Wyatt growled

‘Yes Alpha, I’m sorry’

‘I’m not the one you hurt’ He pointed out

‘I’m sorry Kat’

‘LUNA!’ Wyatt yelled and she jumped again

‘I’m sorry Luna’ She said, her voice shaking with unshed tears ‘I won’t do it again’

‘What is going on out here’ Principal James said as he came outside, wearing his usual light grey suit ‘Everyone get to class right now before I…. Alpha?’ He looked at me then back at Wyatt ‘I didn’t realise you were here, is everything alright?’

‘Get out of my sight’ Wyatt growled, Liz and her two jerk friends took off at full speed

‘Alpha?’ James asked, watching the girls speed away ‘Did Miss Reynolds do something wrong?’

‘She hurt my mate’ Wyatt growled ‘If anything happens to Katomi under your watch again, I will hold you personally responsible, is that clear’

‘Wyatt’ I sighed but he ignored me

James looked at me with concern ‘Miss Aron is back, I thought after what happened on Sunday she’d still be out sick but of course Alpha, we’ll make sure the Luna is taken care of’

‘I don’t need to be taken care of’ I grumbled, knowing it was pointless

‘Good’ Wyatt said to James before looking at me again ‘Turn around’ Wyatt held up my jack, I blushed and did as I was told, he slipped my jacket on and took advantage of our close proximity to run his fingers down my throat, sending chills down my spine

‘Keep your jacket on, it’s cold today’

I nodded and bit my lip as I turned back around to face him, I looked up into his mesmerising eyes and got lost again, dam it, why couldn’t I stop myself from wanting him

‘Leave’ Wyatt said, and everyone rushed away, even Principal James and my guard turned and went back to the tree line

‘By’ I mumbled and went to walk away but Wyatt pulled me back

‘I wasn’t talking to you’ He rolled his eyes

Once we were alone, he examined my wrist again ‘I’m fine, really’

‘I’ve seen you fight’ He said, looking up at me ‘You’re the best in your age group, hell your better than the girls in all of the age groups, why didn’t you make her let you go?’

‘I wasn’t going to beat her up just because she’s a b***h and hurting me’

‘Is this a regular occurrence?’ He asked angrily and looked at the school, no doubt plotting to go in and kill Liz ‘Has she hurt you before?’

‘I’ I looked down ‘Um’

‘Do not lie to me Katomi’ He said before I could, dam it, he was getting to know me to well

‘Yes’ I sighed ‘It’s mostly just her being a b***h but sometimes she goes too far, she’s just a stupid kid, she’ll grow up’

‘Not if I kill her, she won’t’ Wyatt’s eyes darkened, and I knew he was losing control ‘What things does she do when she goes too far!’

‘Wyatt please just let it go’

‘How am I meant to keep you safe if I can’t even protect you from a f*cking teenage girl!’

‘Stop it’ I reached up and touched his face ‘It really doesn’t bother me, I can handle a few mean words, how about I deal with crazy b*tches my age and you worry about everyone else’

Wyatt smirked and shook his head, he pulled me in and hugged me tightly ‘I have to go to class, you’re going to get me in trouble’

Wyatt laughed ‘You still don’t get it’ He looked up at me ‘You run this pack now, you’ll never get in trouble again’

‘That doesn’t mean I should get to do whatever I want’ I pulled my backpack back onto my shoulder ‘Aren’t leaders meant to lead by example’

‘Overrated’ He smiled, he kissed me quickly ‘Alright, go but I want to hear about it if she tries anything like this again, if I find out you kept it from me and I find out from someone else, I’m pulling you out of school’

‘You can’t do that’

‘Watch me’

Wyatt turned and walked off ‘This conversation isn’t over’ I yelled after him, I heard him laugh but he didn’t answer

I quickly rushed into the school and headed straight for my home room ‘I’m sorry I’m late’ I said to Mr’s Lawson who was unpacking her bag

‘That’s fine Miss Aron’ She said waved her hand ‘Take your seat, we haven’t started yet’

I headed towards the back row where Bronwyn and I always sat, I threw my bag under the desk and sat down

‘That was so hot!’ Bronwyn linked me ‘I can’t wait to have a mate, did you see Liz’s face, she looked like she was going to piss her pants’

‘It’s not funny’ I growled ‘It was embarrassing, and Wyatt really would have hurt her’

‘Good’ Bronwyn said dismissively, looking up the front as Mr’s Lawson pulled out the roster and began calling out names ‘About time someone did, I’ve been waiting for you to kick her pathetic ass for years, it’s not like you aren’t capable’

‘I don’t hurt people’ I snapped, and she rolled her eyes

‘Yeah, yeah’ She said ‘I get it, you’re a pacifist’

‘I am not’ I snapped ‘Here’ I said to Mr’s Lawson when she called my name ‘I’m not against fighting, if there’s no other choice’

‘I still say you deck her’ Bronwyn shrugged ‘Here’ She said out loud ‘Just one clean hit, she won’t do anything to you ever again’

‘As if she will anyway, after Wyatt’s warning’

‘That’s not going to stop her for long’ Bronwyn rolled her eyes ‘She’s jealous of you, she always has been and now you’re her Luna, she’s not going to let that go’

‘Maybe’ I sighed

‘And admit it’ She went on ‘You really did think it was hot when Alpha Wyatt came charging over to protect you?’

‘A small, very small part of me thought it was hot’

‘There’s hope for you yet’ She giggled ‘What I wouldn’t give for Beta Beau to look at me like that but us normal Lycan's have to wait until we’re 18 and even then it’s no guarantee that we’ll find our mates, I mean look at Alpha Wyatt, he had to wait 108 years for you and Beta Beau’s like 106, 107 or something and still hasn’t found his mate but of course, I’m his mate so that’s probably why’

I hadn’t thought about that, he must have been so lonely, it must have been so hard on him running things all alone, all I’ve been thinking about is myself, how my secret could come out, I looked down at his ring and ran my finger over it

‘Is that from Alpha Wyatt?’

‘Yeah’ I showed her

‘Wow’ She said as she examined it ‘That’s a lot of diamonds, I’d heard that Alpha Wyatt was loaded’

‘Money doesn’t matter’ I pulled my hand back

‘Yeah, say’s every person who has it’ She nudged me

‘I want to give him something to say thank you’ I went on ‘But I don’t know what he’d like’

‘Der’ She rolled her eyes ‘He wants you, that’s what you should give him, just jump him after school, I don’t know how you’ve resisted until now, that man is pure s*x’

‘Not all of us want to sleep with the first person that comes along’ I pointed out

‘He’s not just anyone’ She reminded me ‘He’s your mate and judging by the way he looks at you, he loves you and wants you, you do want to right’

‘Of course, I do’ I bit my lip ‘Every time he touches me, I just….. but I can’t’

‘Why?’

‘Seriously Kat’ She continued when I didn’t answer ‘Why not, he wants you, even knowing everything about your medical history, he still chose you and you want him, just go for it’

‘I wouldn’t even know how’

‘Goddess give me strength’ She laughed ‘Just walk up to him and shove your tongue down his throat, trust me he’ll take it from there, or better yet, just go to his house tonight and take off all your clothes, there’s no way he’ll resist’

‘I’ll keep that as a plan B’ I smiled and pulled out my English essay

‘What’s that?’ Bronwyn asked and I laughed silently and reminded her of the essay which of course she didn’t do.

The rest of my day went easily enough, I was getting more looks than usual, I hated people watching me, it made it harder to blend in and pretend to be one on of them, despite growing up in the Lycan world, I still had a few Fae traits, I was always drawn to animals, I couldn’t resist them, especially rabbits and horses and I couldn’t stop myself from standing frozen in the sun light if there was a warm spot, I tended to run colder than normal Lycan's but I always explained it away whenever someone noticed.

Lunch was brutal, I got bombarded with thousands of questions about me and Wyatt, but after me saying for the hundredth time that our relationship was private, people started to get the hint and backed off, which was great because it left me a few spare minutes to text Wyatt, I couldn’t believe how much I missed him, this was really bad, I was meant to be distancing myself, this mate pull was a powerful thing and I wasn’t even under the full effect of it yet.

My final class today was gym, and I was looking forward to it, I needed to do something physical, but Wyatt was one step ahead.

I walked into the gym dressed in my workout clothes with Bronwyn, but the moment Mr Green saw me he came over looking his usual annoyed self and glared at me

‘Luna’ He said the word angrily, what was his problem ‘The King spoke with me last night, he told me that you are not to participate in class today so park it’

I growled angrily ‘Mr Green, Wyatt is just being overprotective’ I complained ‘I am fine, he's just’

‘I’m not going against the King’ He snapped ‘Sit down’

I threw up my hands angrily ‘Fine’ I shouted, ‘I’m going to change and head to study hall then!’

‘Very good Luna’

Stupid jerk! I really didn’t understand his issue with me, he was always such an A-hole.

After I changed out of my gym clothes, I headed to my locker to grab some books but when I opened the door of my locker I got a strange feeling like someone was watching me, I’d been feeling it all day but this was different.

I turned around but there was no one else in the hallway, everyone was in their classes.

‘Do you feel that Remi?’

‘Feel what?’ She asked sleepily, she’d been sleeping peacefully, dreaming about our mate

‘Nothing’ I shook my head ‘I’m imagining things’

I turned and headed down the hallway when I heard someone whisper my name, I spun around but again there was no one.

‘What are you looking for?’ Remi asked

‘Someone said my name’

‘I didn’t hear anything’

‘Are you sure, I could have sworn’ I shook my head and turned back towards the classroom ‘I need more sleep, I’m hearing things’

I went to study hall and bashed out my homework while gym class went on but I couldn’t get that voice out of my head, it felt like I new it, like it was someone familiar but I couldn’t quite place it.

‘There was no one there Kat’ Remi complained ‘Now stop distracting me, I’m dreaming about Kai’

I rolled my eyes and continued with my school work ‘We haven’t even agreed to be with them yet’ I reminded her ‘It makes it that much harder when you imagine them like this’

‘Good’ She snapped ‘I want mate, it shouldn’t only be your decision’

‘Do you think I want this Remi!’ I snapped back ‘I love them, I’ve loved them for years, I never dreamt I’d actually get to be with them, but we have to at least try to fight it, think of the pack, we can’t give our mate an heir, we could get our family killed, we could get the pack attacked by Raemair or grandmother, we have to try to’

‘No’ She said stubbornly ‘I don’t care about all of that and neither would mate, he loves us, come on Kat, can’t we at least test things out until we’re 18, see if we can actually be with them without all of that bad stuff happening?’

I sighed and rubbed my face ‘I’ll think about it!’

‘Yes’ She celebrated

‘I’m not promising anything!’

‘It’s only a matter of time’ She laughed ‘No one can resist the mate pull’

‘Just got back to sleep’

I got back to work again until the bell rang, I packed up all of my books and headed out but I got that same weird feeling that I was being watched but as I began to look around, the hall got filled with the students all rushing out of class.

‘You really can’t feel that?’

‘I don’t feel anything’

‘Okay’ I shrugged and went back to my locker, I gathered up my bag and headed outside, the sun was shining brightly so I went and sat down on the same picnic table I’d found Bronwyn on in the morning and leant back in the sun, waiting for Wyatt to pick me up.

After a few minutes a few of my classmates decided to hang out with me for a little, though I suspected they wanted see Wyatt and not spend time with me.

Once Bronwyn joined me, she began to paint our nails and chat happily to the others but by 3pm, everyone was hungry and decided to take off

I tried linking Wyatt again, but I still couldn’t reach him, and he hadn’t responded to my text

‘Do you think he’s ok?’ I asked Remi

‘We’d know if he wasn’t’ She said grumpily, she didn’t like being stood up ‘But if he doesn’t show up soon, he won’t be okay!’

‘Are you sure you told him 2:30?’ Bron asked as she looked at the time on her watch

‘I think so’ I frowned and looked at my phone again ‘He must be having a busy day, I’ll give him another 10 minutes and head off, you don’t have to stay, I’ll be alright, I know how hungry you get after class’

Bronwyn laughed and jumped down ‘Why are you so good to me?’ She asked as she reached over and kissed me on the cheek ‘Call me if he doesn’t show up and I’ll come get you’

‘Will do’ I waved and watched her walk over to her car in the parking lot, it made me miss my car, I'd hardly gotten to enjoy it before that jerk Fae blew it up

'Do you think mate knows anything yet?' Remi asked 'Maybe he found the Fae but hasn't told us yet'

'Maybe' I sighed 'Do you think he really will kill the Fae?'

'Of course, I do' Remi said and I could practically see her roll her eyes.

'I wonder why he attacked us?' I wondered 'It doesn't make sense, why would someone try to hurt us?'

I waited another 10 minutes, swinging my legs over the table in boredom as Remi and I continued to discuss our attack.

I was going to kill Wyatt, how could he stand me up, I looked up at the sky, the sun was gone now and clouds had filled the sky it was going to rain soon, maybe we should just go home

‘Katomi’ A soft voice said on the wind

I jumped down and looked around, but no one was there, what the h*ll was this?

‘Please tell me you heard it that time?’

‘I didn’t hear anything Kat, stop it, it isn’t funny’

‘I’m not messing with you!’

‘Katomi’ The voice called out again but I still couldn’t see anyone, it sounded like it was coming from the woods by the school.

‘It’s coming from the forest’ I took a step but Remi growled

‘Don’t go’ She pleaded

‘It could be Wyatt’

‘It’s not’ She whined ‘I don’t want to go’

'Do you feel that?' I asked her, there was a strange kind of pull around me 'It feels familiar'

I took another step, but Remi started howling and trying to take control 'I don't want to go!'

‘We’ll just take a look, it’ll be fine’

‘NO!’ She screamed and started trying to take control of me ‘Please, I don’t like this!’

‘Ok’ I assured her ‘Okay, we won’t go, let’s go home’

‘Kat!’ A hand touched my shoulder and I screamed, I spun around and was about to twist the persons arm, but he flipped me around and pulled me back against his chest.
