CHAPTER 19 – DRAGON CLAN

WYATT’S POV

I stood in my office staring at the blood on the carpet, my heart was still racing in fear, seeing her throw up blood was torture.

‘I wish we knew who’d stabbed her’ Kai said with vicious longing

‘I know’ I growled ‘I feel the same way’

‘Well, that was crazy’ Beau commented as he walked back into my office

We’d spent the past half an hour trying to calm down the pack, I was shocked at how much they cared about Kat, she wasn’t of age yet and they were already shifting to protect her.

‘I want to go see mate!’ Kai demanded ‘She’s hurt, we need to be with her!’

‘Soon' I told him ‘We have to get things finished up and then we’ll go to her, now please stop’

There was knock on the door and I linked the guards to let the person in.

A man in his mid 40ty’s walked in holding some rolls of carpet, his name was John, he was one of the carpenters in the pack.

‘I have what you asked for Alpha’

‘Thank you’ I nodded and pointed to where Kat had thrown up the blood ‘Please cut out this patch and replace it’

‘Yes sir’ He looked down at the blood soaking into the carpet before looking back at me ‘Is the Luna alright?’

‘She's fine, please get to work’

‘Yes sir’

‘We’ll work out of your office for an hour’ I told Beau and grabbed some papers and my laptop from my desk ‘John, link me once

you’ve finished’

‘I will Alpha’

We walked into Beau’s office and I remembered to contact my mother for Katomi

‘Mother?’ I linked her as I sat down on Beau’s single armchair and opened my laptop

‘Yes darling? She responded instantly

‘Kat won’t be coming to lunch today’

‘What, why not?’

I quickly explained everything that had happened and asked her to push lunch until next week.

‘I should go visit her’

‘No, she’s resting’ I told her ‘Please just wait until next week’

‘Very well darling but make sure you check up on her’

‘Of course’

‘And take her some flowers’

‘Why?’

‘Because she’s sick’

‘No, because you want to know her favourite flower’ I rolled my eyes

‘That too’ She said in amusement

‘I will let you know’ I told her ‘I have to go’

‘Alright darling, be well’

‘You too’

I cut the link and rubbed my face ‘Right’ I said to Beau ‘Where were we?’

We worked until the early evening but Kai was getting to restless, we had to see Kat so I left the packhouse, passing several pack members who still seemed upset.

I was driving towards Williams when I remembered what my mother had said about flowers so I made a quick detour into the main part of the town

As I walked into the florist, I got a few strange looks from the pack members that were walking around the area.

I'd never bought flowers for anyone, and I was surprised by how self-conscious I felt.

Now that I'd announced Kat as my mate, I knew that I'd be getting watched more than ever to see how I was treating her

I'm sure everyone expected me to behave much as my father had, sleeping with whomever I wished while still pretending to be the perfect mate in public but I would never do that to Kat.

I headed over to a rack of flowers, the scents were nice, but nothing compared to Kats scent, she really did have an exquisite smell

'Hello Alpha' Gloria, one of the florists greeted me.

She walked over to me as she wiped her dirty hands on her brown apron.

'Hello Gloria' I said back politely 'How are you'

'As well as can be expected at my age' She smiled 'Now, how can I help you?'

'I’d like to get something for Kat'

'Oh, how sweet' She gushed 'I heard that she was hurt, this will cheer her up a lot, did you have something in mind?'

'Actually, I'm not really sure what flowers she prefers'

'Well Katomi, I'm sorry, Luna' She corrected herself 'She always buys the wildflowers, she's very fond of the Harebells or the blue-eyed grasses, or perhaps the chicory'

'Right' I nodded, not having a clue what any of these flowers looked like, my mother was the gardener in the family 'Can you gather up a good selection of each and mix the bouquet with everything'

'Of course, Alpha' She said and started gathering up the flowers she thought Kat would like

'And I'd like a rose too' I added, I would give it to Mia, it was always a good idea to get the sister on your side.

'Yes sir' After about 20 minutes, Gloria had finally finished my bouquet which she added a pretty blue bow too, the same colour as Kats eyes but I asked her to change it to purple, that was Kats favourite.

'Thank you' I said happily 'How much do I owe you?'

'Nothing at all Alpha' She waved her hand dismissively 'I’m happy to give you them but please let us know if the Luna ever needs or wants any more flowers, we'd be happy to help'

'Thats very generous of you, thank you'

I quickly returned to my car and headed to see my girl, I'd been anxious to see her, she'd better be in bed resting.

'She should be in our bed resting' Kai commented 'I don't want mate to sleep away from us anymore, I'm sick and tired to living without them!'

'What would you have me do Kai?' I snapped, even though I felt the same way 'Kidnap her, force her to move in?'

'Why not?' He asked as if it was a completely normal thing to agree too.

I rolled my eyes and ignored him for the rest of the drive.

I pulled up in William’s driveway and pulled out the flowers before walking towards the house.

For the first time I paid attention to the garden, it was filled with wildflowers, Georgia had been right about Kat loving them and I made a mental note to speak to my gardener about changing up my own garden to fill it with flowers she'd love.

I knocked on the door and waited, I hated having to wait, I should just be allowed to walk inside, this was my pack and my mate was inside.

The thick door swung open, and Jerome smiled at me 'Hello Alpha' He said excitedly 'Come in, Kats in the lounge room'

I growled internally, why the f*ck wasn't she in bed! I followed Jerome into the lounge room where the family were watching a

movie.

William and Shay were cuddled up together on a love seat while Jerome laid back down on the ground on top of a fold out body cushion and Mia was curled up with Kat on the long sofa.

‘Hi’ She smiled up at me.

She was dressed in a silk set of pj’s with rabbit on them and her hair was pulled up into a messy bun but she was still absolutely stunning, a huge part of me wanted to take her right there but I kept that desire in check and focused on my annoyance.

‘Hi’ I said testily as she sat up ‘Why aren’t you upstairs in bed resting?’

Kat pouted as Mia quickly moved and joined her brother, I suspected to get away from me.

‘I got lonely’

‘Well, you’re going back up there now’ I placed the flowers on the table next to the love seat and went to pick Kat up, but she moved back and tears filled her eyes.

‘No’ She said sadly ‘I don’t want to be all alone, everyone’s down here and we’re watching a movie, can’t I stay, please?’

Sh*t, I instantly sat down and wiped her tears from her cheek, I didn’t realise me making her go upstairs would stress her out so much.

‘It’s alright’ I said quickly and kissed her forehead ‘You can stay down here, I’ll stay with you until the movies over’

‘Thank you’

'Alpha, with all due respect' William linked me as I kissed Kats forehead again before standing up and grabbing the flowers 'But you do realise she played you, don't you?'

I looked at him in annoyance 'She'd never do that'

‘She used to pull that act on my when she was a child’ William told me ‘But I stopped falling for it’

‘I didn’t fall for anything’

'No, Williams right for once' Kai joined the conversation 'She totally played you'

Kai and William laughed but I ignored them, she wouldn't do that.

'Are they for me?' Kat asked and I looked back at her

'No' I smirked 'They're for your father'

Shay laughed 'Will prefers sunflowers'

I laughed and held out the flowers to Kat 'Of course they are for you, do you like them?'

'They're beautiful, thank you' Kat smiled and smelt the flowers

'And Mia' I knelt and held out the rose 'This is for you'

Mia blushed and nervously took it from me 'Thank you Alpha Wyatt' She said softly and stood up 'I will go put it in the vase, Kat do

you want me to take yours too?'

'I can do it' She said and moved her blanket but I shot out my hand and gently took her wrist in my hand.

'Stay put' I ordered and took her flowers and passed them to her sister 'Thank you Mia, that would be very helpful'

Kat sighed and slumped back in the chair as I sat down beside her.

I put the small cushion on my lap and held up my hands.

'Lay down and rest'

Katomi blushed and looked at her family 'You want me to lay on your lap?' I smiled and shook my head patiently

'Baby your family is right here' I pointed out 'What exactly do you think I'm going to do to you if you lay on my lap?'

Kats cheeks reddened more 'Nothing, I didn't think you wanted me to do anything, I....' She looked at her parents again before

quickly laying down and pulling the blanket up to her chin

I smiled and pulled Kats hair out of the tie and began running my fingers through her soft hair.

'What are you watching?' I asked to distract myself as Kat hugged my knee and rested her hand on the inside of my thigh.

'I wish we had mate all to ourselves' Kai pouted

'Kung Fu panda' Jerome answered me 'It’s my favourite and it was my turn to pick the movie.

This was a strange concept to me, my family never had movie nights together.

'Great' I said and got comfortable 'I've never seen it'

'Really?' Jerome said excitedly 'Dad, start it over so Alpha Wyatt can see the whole thing'

Everyone groaned and Kat laughed but her father reset the movie, and everyone fell silent again.

I didn't really pay attention to the movie, though some parts were funny, mostly I enjoyed touching Kat and I linked a few people to get some pack work done.

Once the credits were rolling, I looked down at Kat to see her eyes were nearly closed

'Come on baby' I said gently and helped her sit up 'It’s time for you to get some proper rest'

'I'm fine' She complained and yarned 'You all worry too much'

I growled and she looked nervous 'I worry just enough' I told her 'Now get up, do you want me to carry you?'

'No' She blushed and stood up, I hated that she wouldn't be sleeping in my bed tonight 'I can walk, I'll walk you out'

'No' I told her and stood up too 'I will walk you up to your room, I don't want you to get lightheaded and fall down the stairs'

Jerome started laughing and Kat growled at him.

'Sucks to be mated to an Alpha' He joked

'Shut up' Kat snapped and started to walk towards the stairs 'Night'

'Goodnight sweetheart' Shay responded

'Night' Her father said as he watched me following Kat with a disapproving glare.

I couldn't help but watch Kats ass as she climbed the stairs and I made yet another mental note to f*ck her from behind on my stairs one day soon.

Sh*t, don't think about f*cking her, I warned myself, as I felt my c*ck hardening.

After a second set of stairs Katomi paused by a doorway with her name on it and a painting of a rabbit

'Thank you for walking me up to my room' She said but made no move to open her door and I smirked, she was still too shy to let me into her room 'And for the flowers and for coming to visit me'

'I wouldn't have to visit you if you'd just move in with me' I commented and heard a quiet growl come from her father downstairs, but I ignored him, he'd have to get used to Kat being mine soon enough 'But you're welcome baby, how are you feeling anyway, we didn't really get a chance to talk tonight'

'I’m alright' She shrugged as if it was no big deal and I growled in annoyance.

'Would you start taking his seriously Katomi' I said firmly, and she looked down at her feet 'You could have died because you forgot your pills, I've seen someone die from silver poisoning and it’s not a peaceful way to go so I never want to watch that happen to you, is that clear?!'

'Yes'

'Do not forget your pills again'

'I won't' She said quietly and shuffled her feet 'I didn't mean to this time, I just got distracted because you got hurt'

I sighed and rubbed my face 'I’m sorry, I know it's my fault but'

'It wasn't your fault' She said quickly and looked up at me, goddess her eyes were gorgeous, I couldn’t look away 'You didn't mean to get hurt and you literally saved my dads, it's my fault for forgetting, I should know better by now'

'Yes, you should' Her father said from the lounge room and I growled in annoyance, this is one of the reasons I wanted her to live with me, I wanted privacy with her.

'We'll talk more tomorrow' I told her.

'Alright' She said glumly, did she want me to stay, should I offer to spend the night with her?

'Yes' Kai said quickly

'I could always stay' I suggested through the link but Kat blushed and her eyes widened.

'No' She shook her head 'I'm not ready for us to have s*x'

'I just meant to sleep baby' I said but I couldn't help but tease her and I gently pushed her up against the door and looked down at her, but Kat kept her face down while her heart went crazy.

I put my hand under her chin and lifted her face 'Unless you want more?'

I knew her answer would be no so I didn't give her a chance to respond.

I trapped her between my hands as leant in and pressed my lips against hers.

Kats hands gripped my shirt and she pulled me closer, though I suspected she didn't realise she was doing it or the reaction she’d illicit from me, especially when she pressed against my c*ck

Before I got myself too worked up, I pulled back and looked down at my girl, what I’d give to take her into her bedroom and rip her clothes off.

‘I’ll see you tomorrow baby’ I said and kissed her on her forehead

‘Goodnight’ She responded shyly.

I smiled to myself and began to walk away but Kat grabbed my arm ‘Wyatt’

‘Yes?’ I turned back to her but she moved quickly and wrapped her arms around my waist.

She hugged me tightly and I instantly wound my own arms around her, I loved that she didn’t want me to leave, good, it wouldn’t be long now before she finally gave in and moved in with me.

‘Please don’t ever scare me like this again baby’ I pleaded through the link ‘I never want to see you in pain like that’

‘I’m sorry’ She responded ‘I won’t get distracted again’

‘Good’

‘Have a good sleep’ She said before pulling back

‘You too my Queen’ I said and kissed her gently once more before leaving.

I said my goodbyes to her family before leaving their house, I was very tempted to just stay at Beau’s so I could be close by but I was training in the morning and my house was closer to the training field.

My office door opened on Tuesday afternoon, and I frowned, my guards knew I was in a meeting, who the hell were they letting into my office!

‘The Alpha’s just in a meeting right now Luna’

‘Mate!’ Kai purred and his tail started wagging and I found myself sitting up straighter as her scent filled the room

‘Oh’ Kat responded in an unsure tone ‘I will come back later than’

‘Come in Katomi’ I called out to her, she was so cute.

Kat walked into the small lobby area and I felt myself getting hard, she had to know what she was doing by dressing like this.

My sister had been very into fashion so I knew Kat was wearing a white peter pan collar button up shirt with black suspenders attached to a black striped skirt that fell to her mid-thigh and thigh high black striped socks and white sneakers.

Her beautiful hair was down the way I liked it and she’d placed a diamond clip on the left side, pulling the hair out of her face.

‘Hi baby’

‘Hi’ She said awkwardly as she looked around at all of the elders.

‘Good day Luna’

‘Hello Luna’

Several of the men greeted her and she blushed a little and fidgeted with her fingers

‘Hello’ She smiled back at everyone

‘So, this is your mate King Wyatt’

I glared at Briorn as he rose from his chair, but I growled in warning and two of the elders stood up and moved in front of Kat who stepped back in surprise

‘I was just going to introduce myself’ Briorn looked at me innocently

‘Well do it from your seat’ I told him firmly, I’d remained in my chair, I didn’t want Briorn to know how much he’d frightened me by trying to get close to Kat, I couldn’t show weakness but inside I was on edge and Kai was fully alert

‘You Lycan’s are far to protective’ Briorn told me as he sat down again ‘I wouldn’t be stupid enough to harm your mate while I’m in the middle of your territory, I don’t feel like dying today’

‘Good’ I snapped before turning back to Kat who was looking at me with a confused frightened expression ‘Kat, this is Briorn, he is a representative from the Dragon clan’

‘Dragon clan?’ She said and her eyes widened ‘Which clan?’

‘Ironor’ Briorn answered and showed the tattoo on his wrist and Kat’s eyes darkened slightly

'Ironor?' She asked and scanned the room again ‘Is Bora with you?’

‘You know my King?’

‘I met Bora when we were little’ Kat surprised me, I didn’t know she’d been to a dragon clan before ‘He pushed me in the mud because I beat him in a race’

A few of the men laughed but I didn’t like hearing this, I would get even for her the next time I saw Bora

‘Yes, my King doesn’t like to lose’ Briorn smiled ‘May I ask what you were doing in our clan, we don’t often let in outsiders, especially Lycans, no offence’

‘I wasn’t in Ironor’ Kat answered, and her face fell ‘I was in the Perida clan, 12 and half years ago’

Briorn shifted uncomfortably in his seat and looked at Kat with a strange expression and his heart raced, what was going on.

‘I see’ He said and looked down ‘Terrible tragedy, a lot of good dragons died back then’

‘Back then?’ I wondered to Kai

‘There was an attack 12 and half years ago’ Kai reminded me ‘The Fae attacked them’

‘Right, I remember that’ I told him ‘Father refused to help them, I didn’t know Kat was there during that fight’

‘There’s a lot we don’t know about mate’ Kai said with concern

‘Yes, they did’ Kat said firmly and glared at Briorn for a second ‘Your King walked away fine though, didn’t he’

‘As did you, dear’

Kat glared at him again before looking back at me ‘I’m sorry to interrupt, I’ll wait in your main office’

‘I won’t be to long’ I told her and watched as she walked away, f*ck, her ass looked so good in that skirt.

‘She just left school’ Kai reminded me angrily ‘Boys saw her dressed like that all day!’

‘I’ll talk to her!’ I told him

‘Your majesty?’ Elder Mike said to gain my attention again

I cleared my throat ‘Right, sorry, where were we?’

‘We were discussing their demands’ Elder Richards said with an amused tone as he looked over at me ‘Unless you’d rather discuss things later’

‘Don’t start’ I rolled my eyes ‘I’m not negotiating territory’ I got back to work and tried not to think about Kat bending over in front of me in that skirt ‘I will allow your clan to farm in the area, but you will pay for it’

We continued to discuss the Dragon clan treaty for another hour while I listened to Kat, she must have been doing schoolwork because I could hear papers moving around and books being opened and closed.

‘I will return home tomorrow and speak with Bora about everything’ Briorn told me as he stood up ‘I’m sure he’ll want to send your young mate a gift in respect of her new title so I will let you know when it is coming’

‘That’s very generous’ I told him ‘Let me know if Bora would like to discuss anything further’

‘I will, thank you’ He bowed his head and left the room followed by two guards I had watching over him while he was in my territory, I noticed him pause in the lobby and look at Kat for a second but when one of the guards stepped in between him and Kat, he left quickly

Once I’d said my goodbyes to all the elders, I went into my office to find Kat sitting with her legs crossed on my sofa with a cushion on her lap and an open book on top of that.

‘Hi’ I said and leant against my door frame so I could take her in

‘Hi’ She smiled brightly ‘I’m sorry I interrupted, I should have linked you first’

‘I’ve already told you that you are always welcome here’ I told her ‘You don’t have to ask permission’

‘Right’ She nodded and looked at the carpet ‘The bloods gone’

She hadn’t returned to my office since Saturday, we’d mostly been spending time together at her house, or rather, the woods by her house, I would take her for an evening walk so we could talk and be alone together.

‘I had the carpet fixed’ I looked at the area and cringed internally at the memory of her throwing up blood

‘Did you have to remove the whole carpet?’

‘No’ I smiled ‘Just the small spot’

‘Is she intentionally trying to distract us?’ I asked Kai

‘I never knew you’d been to a dragon clan before’

Kat tensed ‘It was after my mom died’ She answered ‘Before coming here’

‘And Bora was mean to you’

‘You can’t trust him’ She told me seriously and her eyes darkened a little

‘Because he pushed you in the mud?’

‘No’ She rolled her eyes at me ‘Because he’s a monster’

‘You haven’t seen him since you were little’ I said reasonably ‘People change’

‘He isn’t a person’ She continued to argue ‘And people don’t change that much, I could tell, he was a monster, you should be careful’

‘I will’ I smiled ‘Thank you for your council’

Kat glared at me ‘Don’t mock me, I wasn’t’

‘I wasn’t mocking you’ I told her ‘I was being serious, I appreciate your advice’

‘Oh’ She said and frowned ‘Okay’

‘Were you there when the Fae attacked the clan?’

‘Yes, and I don’t want to talk about it’

I was disappointed that she didn’t want to confide in me, but we’d only been together for a little while, I’m sure she’d open up eventually.

‘As you wish’

She shifted in her seat and adjusted her legs so she was sitting properly and she placed the pillow beside her

‘So, about your outfit’

‘Don’t even try’ She glared at me and placed her book down on the coffee table ‘I already hear it from my dad, I don’t need it from my mate too, I’ll dress however I want’

‘William disapproves as well’

‘We’re not discussing this’

I smiled ‘I love it when you're stern’

‘Shut up’ She blushed

‘Did you just tell your King to shut up?’

Kat smirked ‘Maybe’

‘I think I should punish you for such disrespect’

‘Really’ She asked in amusement ‘And how exactly are you going to do that?’

Images of her bent over my desk came to mind.

‘Are you going to force me to wear sweats and a hoody every day’

I laughed ‘Don’t tempt me’

‘I tell you what oh powerful King’ She mocked me and sat down on her knees in front of the coffee table ‘If you can beat me in an

arm wrestle then I’ll never wear a short skirt ever again, not that this is even short’

I smiled and walked over to her with confidence ‘You think I’ll let you win out of chivalry, but I won’t’

‘I don’t need you to let me win your majesty’ She said full of confidence as I sat down on my knees beside her ‘I will win on my own’

She sat her elbow on the on the coffee table and offer me her hand with a smug confident look in her beautiful face.

I shook my head with a wide smile on my own face, how did she have to ability to make me feel so light and playful.

I took a firm hold of her small hand in mine and she moved closer to me, what was she planning

‘Are you ready your majesty?’

I growled playfully ‘On 3’

‘One’ She said with a sweet smile

‘Two’ I said

Kat sat up and leant close to my ear ‘Three’ She whispered and sucked hard on my ear lobe, what the f*ck!

I gasped and I felt my d**k twitch in my pants and Kat pushed my arm down before I realised what was happening

‘That sneaky minx!’ Kai was torn, he hated losing but he loved Kat’s boldness

‘I win’ She said smugly and leant back

‘You cheated!’ I laughed ‘I demand a re-match!’

‘No way’ She said and stood up and curtsied ‘I win and I didn’t cheat, you never said there were rules’

‘That’s because everyone knows the rules’ I told her as I stood up ‘I think I’ll have to punish you after all’ I added and stepped towards her, but she giggled and stepped back ‘I can’t lose to a Beta’

I reached out to grab her, but she giggled again and rushed around my desk away from me

‘GET HER!’ Kai said playfully as I growled again

‘I’m sorry’ She smiled and raised her hands in defeat ‘I cheated, I admit it’

‘No’ I shook my head and slowly walked around the table towards her ‘I can’t let you off the hook this time little Beta’

I launched for her, but she dashed back around the other side of my table back near the coffee table

‘It’s not my fault’ She told me ‘It was Remi’s idea’

‘You really ought to listen to Remi more often baby’ I quickly ran at her, she tried to dodge me but this time I snagged her around her waist.
