"Hello?" I heard Devin and I sighed and looked around the bathroom. "I have a problem." I whispered and she just kept asking if I was hurt, where Mark was, and going on and on. "Devin!" I shouted and then looked towards the door to make sure no one heard me and worried. "What is it?" "You know how my mate is supposed to have a dead first mate and I am his second chance?" I asked taking a deep breath before and after speaking. "Did you meet him? Is he cute?" She asked and I heard her trying to stop laughing. "He is hot, but that is not the problem right now..." I said and saw Sabine walk through the door, and I gulped. "What could possibly be the problem... does he already have a kid?" She asked and I coughed and cleared my throat. "No, but you know my new power... she's here." I said and she asked me who. "The first mate." I said and then there was silence. "I don't see what the big deal is. I was here for Dean when I was alive, and I am making sure you are here for him as well. He isn't as put together as he tries to be." Sabine came forward and I just focused on her for a little while before realizing Devin was saying something. "What was that?" I asked turning from Sabine and facing the mirror. "I asked why she is there?" "She said she is taking care of him. And she wants to make sure that I take care of his the same way." I said and looked back over at her. "Is he disabled somehow?" She asked and I just glared at the wall. "No, he is not. But I am sure there are some things I don't know about yet." I said and then sighed. "I have to get back out there. She appeared and I just had to leave... how should I tell him?" I asked and she laughed. "How to tell your new mate his dead mate is there with you while you are digging up other dead bodies? Gee that's a little new, hold on while I think." Her sarcasm so was not needed right now. "Well maybe I just won't tell him." I said and sighed and licked my lips. "Why would you tell him. Sure, I am here for him, but I need to help him through you." Sabine said and I just looked at her. "So, I shouldn't tell him?" I asked her and she shook her head. "Yes, you should. That's like you getting to talk to mom and dad and you not telling Ivory and I." Devin said on the other end and I just nibbled on my lip. "That's true." I said and deflated. "Just don't tell him... he needs to focus on getting to know you rather than knowing that I am still here." Sabine said and I sort of agreed with her. "I have to go back out their Dev, before he thinks something is wrong." I said and then just hung up a looked at Sabine. "We look nothing alike." I told her and she nodded. She had blue eyes, blonde hair, a couple inches taller than me, and our figures were nothing like. I was smaller in the chest by at least two cup sizes and my ass was nowhere as big as hers. Seeing her and then looking at myself made me feel like a down grade. "He doesn't need me anymore, he needs you. You are better than me. You'll help him more than I ever could." She reassured and I just looked down and looked at my shoes. "Let's get back out there." She waved me out and walked out of the door and I took a deep breath as I started walking as well and then pushing open the door. I pulled my shirt down farther and turned the corner smiling at the waitress as I passed her and then focusing on Dean who was looking around with both of our plates in front of him now. "Hey, I didn't want to eat without you." He said and I just nodded with a widening smile as I sat down. "He was always so sweet." Sabine said and I noticed her sitting on the other side of him. "You okay?" Dean asked and I realized that I must have been staring at Sabine and him for a little longer than I thought I was. "Yeah, just thinking about what is to come." I said and swallowed hard. I started cutting up my French toast and ate quietly and I heard a sigh, so I looked up to see Sabine right in front of me. "He's too quiet. He used to talk a lot at dinner." She said and looked at him and then me. "If you two didn't spend all day together I would ask you to just start a conversation." She said a put her head in her hands and sighed. "Ask him more about computers." "So, if you're the computer geek," I said and he looked up and Sabine told me not to call him that, "what made you do that instead of the field?" I asked and then put a piece of food in my mouth waiting. "I have a god daughter... so to speak. And her mother, Gene, she's the Beta's mate from the pack your sisters are at now." He started and then looked around. "Gene is like my other little sister, and she asked me not to get put in harm’s way. For her, and for Heidi." He said and lifted his coffee and took a sip. "How old is she?" I asked and ate another bite. "She's turned 7 a couple of months ago." He told me and I nodded. "I missed that birthday though." He said and focused back on his food. "What's she like? Heidi." I said and he smiled as he chewed. "She's really clever, she bats her eyes and gets what she wants from anyone. She knows how to use blackmail... not proud to say she learned that from me." He laughed lightly and I smiled. "She's in school now, and she always asks me to come back when we video chat." He said and I just looked at him and then down to my plate. "Well my guess is, that since we are mates... you are going to go back with me when all this is over to go and get my sisters and since they are in that pack you can go and see her." I said after a couple more bites and thinking it out. How to say it and I looked towards Sabine who was giving us both a smile. "I will be with you through everything from here on out." He told me after I had been focusing on my food for a couple of bites and I looked up and he was completely serious and then focusing back on his food and I just stared at his profile. I finished my breakfast dinner way after him, but he had ordered everyone else's meal and then when I was done, we just finished and we talked about where we each grew up, him being from Montana and I being from New York. When the rest of the orders were up, he paid for everything and we walked out both holding onto one bag. He grabbed my hand as we walked on the snow just in case there was ice under it and then opened my door. I used the space where my feet were to hold the bags as I pulled them up to cradle them as we drove back to the cabin. He drove slowly, kept glancing behind us, and around like he was on high alert. We got back and Mark was outside in his wolf form and growled at me and then looked to Dean and looked to the cabin. "Get in the cabin Aurora now." Dean told me and pushed me in before locking the door. I muttered a spell right away to put a ward up and stayed near Dean as he went to the computer. "Sit down and just relax. It is probably nothing." He said typing away and I just sat own on my bed and muttered protection spells on Mark and Adam and Jason.
