5 - The Jacket

Ethan My name is Ethan Richards. I'm an actor. Other people call me a lot of other things: Phenomenal Star, Box-Office King, National Boyfriend, Most Influential Endorser, Number One Heartthrob, Asia's Multimedia Star, but I'd like to stay known and appreciated for my passion-- acting.  Like every boy I have a family but not the conventional type. I live with my Dad and my baby sister who's not exactly a baby anymore because she's only a few years younger than me, but will always be our little darling. My mother passed away before I became famous.  Mommy Lexie was Mama's bestfriend from highschool. Mama was the first person he came out to. He stayed with us through the course of Mama's sickness until she passed away. Mommy Lexie took care of me and my sister like his own kids. Aside from Mommy Lexie, my cousin April who's like my big sister also lived with us. She has a little Angel whose Dad took off before she was born.  My Mama who is now in heaven left my Papa with an irreparable broken heart. He said she took half of his heart with her and it can only be whole again when they meet in heaven. My mom and dad loved like no other. They always knew they were meant to be forever.  This is the one true love I dreamed of having and I have no doubt in my heart I will find it.  People say I have it easy but this life I live is anything but breezy. You see good things don't happen without sacrifice and to be where I am, I worked all day and night. In this world of stars and glitz, to find true love is just a diss but I didn't lose hope because I have seen it: true love and destiny in all it's reality. So I go out with a smile everyday. It takes only a smile to brighten someone's day and I always bring one more too many to give away. I find joy in making people happy but in my heart I also longed to find someone to warm me with her smile.  One night, I found the one, a blue fairy who appeared through blinking lights. Sprinkling her fairy dust with her captivating stares. Her eyes are pools of shiny chocolate that made me dive right in and swim. Her cheeks are berry hills that glow against the plains of her caramel skin. Her nose is a tiny pointy candy corn poised in the middle of her lovely face. Her lips are full red cherries that make you want to take a bite.  And her smile... Her bright smile with her shiny pearly whites can touch a thousand hearts with its radiance.  I long to see that smile again and feel the fuzzy warmth in my heart as our eyes meet and stare.  Tonight like all nights, I was stuck in traffic. I listened to the pitter patter of the rain on the car's roof.  I dreamt of true love. I dreamt of her. Foolish as it may sound, there was no need to deny because to myself I couldn't hide my heart's deepest desire. In the gloomy rainy weather I closed my eyes and made a wish.  Wish I may,  Wish I might,  Find that one love tonight.  I opened my eyes and to my surprise, I saw her. Under the faint light of the streetlamp in front of a building's facade, taking shelter from the rain, she stood cold and damp. I quickly grabbed my jacket and against Mommy Lexie's reprimands, I put it over my head, got out of the car and ran to her.  I stopped right in front of her, cramming under the same shelter. I took my jacket and put it over her shoulders then at that moment she lifted her eyes.  She gasped and her eyes widened in surprise because what were the chances of us meeting again under the circumstances?  I met her gaze and those shiny chocolate pools once again drowned me as her cherry lips opened to speak.  "Ethan? What are you doing here?" She asked.  "Just passing by." I grinned, still not believing how the stars could be so kind to me. "You must be cold standing out here in the rain, Miss Daisy. Would you like to have some coffee with me?"  She smiled and the same warm and fuzzy feeling melted my heart.  "Coffee. Just coffee." She said.
