When I tell you the rest of the night was pretty uneventful, that would be putting it lightly. The fanfare grew exponentially and, of course, Marí was loving every minute of it. Me, on the other hand, grew more exhausted as the night went on. “Ready to head in?” James asked, slipping his arms around my waist.
I’m starting to think this is now my favorite place to be. Safe in his arms without a care in the world. I sighed in relief as if the world was pulled off my shoulders, even if just for a minute. The fight rang through my mind on repeat since it ended and the reality was, they weren’t wrong. I kept asking myself who am I to even be this defensive over my role. I am just a beta.
