The return

"Come on Kia, you know if you hear the lightning, then it wasn't meant for you," my mom laughed after lighting struck nearby and I hit my head on the wall out of fear. I gently rubbed my forehead hoping it wouldn't swell and thank the heavens it did not. I grabbed my bike's keys and gave my mom a goodbye peck on the cheek and left the room. It was just the two of us as my brother was in university and my dad... deceased. I jump onto my bike and put on my helmet before riding down the road. As usual the streets were beginning to get lively and I was craving for chocolate. I walked into a small shop by the side of the road and smile at old Joe who sat behind the counter. The old man like always, wore a smile on his wrinkled face and swayed joyously to the music on his radio. "Hello Kia," he asked. "You know I think I should give you something for always being my first customer." "Come on old man, I don't need anything besides that warm smile of yours," I reply smiling, "And a chocolate of course." "Well young lady you know these chocolates..." he began his lecture on how sweet things can affect your health which I knew by heart. "Chocolate is relatively energy dense, meaning a small amount provides many calories, with high amounts of fat and sugar. Remember that young lady." "Thank you old Joe, have a great day." I made it to school from old Joe's place in fifteen minutes and walked to my locker. The corridors were full of people moving from one locker to the other in all directions. I found Evelyn impatiently waiting for me by my locker with a wild grin on her annoyingly gorgeous face. Her silky brown hair flowed off her shoulders and hid behind her back. I found it rather stunning that she was wearing a black skin jean instead of her usual blue jeans and pink top. "Hello," I stood by my locker and stared at her trying her best to ignore my presence and waited for her to spread her hands around me and let me inhale her lavender perfume. "Kia," she said hugging me and pulling back quickly, "Guess what?" "Eve, I'm not good with guesses," I shuffle my books into my satchel. "I know but just try," I was about to refuse and she pleaded even more. "Please," she imploringly looked into my eyes until I made a guess, "Uhm, you just got a new follower on gram?" "Girl guessing is not your thing," "I tried telling you." "Hey Eve," Zane, her ex said as he passed by and smiled but Eve just didn't care. She rolled her eyes and turned back to me. "You failed the guess so now I have to tell you what happened, rather what is happening," she paused as if to search her language bag then continued, "He's back." "Who's back?" "The one and only guy," she brushed off some strands of hair from her face. "You know that doesn't mean anything right?" "Yep, don't worry. You'll get to know him real soon. Actually you know him but you... wait, do you talk to anyone else in this school besides me?" I knew that was rhetoric and she was right because I hardly talked to anyone besides her but if I agreed to that then she was going to find a perfect reason to make fun of me. "Well yes, I talk to Andrea in class when you aren't around," that was half true, "and Zane in matrix class. "That's all?" "Well yeah, it's not like I want to win an award of being the most social person around," I said. "Yeah you're right, but you would definitely be awarded for being the most 'anti-social" person in Blackrock High," she emphasized on the word anti-social and air quoted it with her fingers. "I swear if I were your mom, I would have slit your throat the moment you were born." Wow. At times she says things that left me wondering if she had a hidden agenda behind being my best friend. Somehow, I like her that way and feel great around her. She lives a few streets from my place. Her white house is has a loan and a garden of roses by the side then a short white fence. Eve lives with her stepmom and they don't quite get along so she's at my place most of the time.  The clock strikes seven thirty and people are just about to rush to their classes when an ear piercing scream from the door and everyone comes to a halt. The corridors become silent and everyone looks at the glass door where a couple of men in black suits are opening the door. The silence turns to a wave of whispers. "Kia, where are you going?" Evelyn asked as I walked to my class. "Umm, I'm obviously going to class," I continue walking and leave her with the other students. I sit down alone in class and write a short poem. I would have made it longer but the novel in my satchel seemed to be calling out to me. I pulled out the book to read and that instance the noise shifted from the corridors and fills the medium sized cube I was in. Evelyn rushed to sit next to me and by the look on her face, I knew she had some  hot gossip that she couldn't wait to get off her chest. Everyone seemed to be in a different mood. "Hey there nerdy," a hand slapped my desk with pink fingernails and a silver ring. "What now Isabella, did you just get dumped?" Evelyn interfered as she knew Isabella was there only to pic a fight with me. "Will you shut up girly and stop being some super girl," Isabella shot back then returned to me, "You, don't you have any manners? How could you come and sit here when Ace is back?" "Manners? Ace? Those two don't get along quite well." "Will you shut up Eve," Isabella hissed while slapping Eve's desk." "It's Evelyn for you," she stands up and looks at her in the eyes. It seems as if two c***s were about to fight over an unfaithful hen. "Ouch, didn't that hurt your elegant soft skinned palm?" "Shut up," pain was written all over Isabella's face but she tried her best to hide it. The room was silent as people enjoyed the drama taking place right in the center of the class.  "Umm, Isabella," I finally interrupted, "I don't think we're here to fight so would you please look for someone else to mess with?" Oh no! Why did I say that? A new girl had entered the room. She was in a black dress with polka dots and a leather jacket. Her hair rested on her shoulders and her eyes covered by a pair of lenses. Have you ever wished you could turn back time? That's how I feel right now. I unknowingly asked Isabella to go and bully the kid. Eve looks at me and nods her head. I don't think I'm the only one who has read the situation. Lucky enough, Mr. Thompson enters the room with his usual grin and a pile of books in his left hand which he probably wasn't going to use. If that's what happens when you're aging, then I would rather die young. "Good morning learners," he gently lay the books on the desk and slid his hand over his bald head. The lesson is about to begin when the door swings gently and the room is filled with a bad boy fragrance. Just the kind of guy every girl dreams of. He slowly and elegantly walked into the class you would think he's a leopard showing off it's spots. His white t-shirt tight enough to highlight his chiseled features. A chain hung around his neck and a pair of sunglasses sat over his ears. He's slamming hot. Instead of apologizing for being late he simply makes his way to his desk. As he gets to where I sat trying hard not to stare he's stopped in his tracks by Mr. Thompson, "Where might you be going young man?" "Into the future," he smirks and pulls off his sunglasses. Gosh his facial features are so jaw-dropping. "Would you please be serious young lad." "Umm well, that sounds ironic because I've known myself for being a joker," he gave an even bigger smile, "Now that you know where I'm going, shall I take my place please?" "Yeah, take your seat but this is not to be repeated." "Whatever." Oh My God. This dude right here, is oozing attitude.
